I know it is really hard to do, but drinking while eating can cause your small pouch to stretch and you really don't want to do that. While eating, don't keep any fluids near you. Out of sight out of mind.

1. Caffeine - Is it a requirement to avoid caffeine short and long term? My doctor does not want us to have caffeine products. However, I drink coffee every morning. I will never give up my java in the morning.:tt2: My doctor is aware I drink coffee. 2. Barium - What is this that I've heard horrid things about?? It is a very thick solution you drink while being x-rayed. It is tolerable. Not the best, but it is tolerable. And the cool thing is you can see your insides projected on the tele as you drink the solution and are being s-rayed. Plus, it gets you that much closer to your surgery. 3. C-Section - How does recovery from Lap compare to a C-section? Recovery from my two c-sections was harder, because I was up every two to three hours taking care of my baby. Rest eluded me, which made it more challenging to recover. The c-setion incision was quite larger as a bikini cut. The Band surgery lap-scopic only took me 7 days to feel better. And I was able to get lots of rest, as there were no babies to tend too 4. Surgery - My doc markets that they can get you in and out in 84 minutes....did I misunderstand? Most "best cases" that I've heard are arrive at 9, leave by 2. What is realistic? Not sure about this, as I stayed in the hospital for 2.5 days. However, if you don't feel well or need extra time to recover, then let your doctor know. It should not be about how many minutes it takes, but how well the procedure goes. 5. Work - How much time off do most people plan for with an office job? I have an office desk job and I took two weeks off. Part of that was because I wanted me time. I cannot recall the last time I ever took a two-week vacation, so that is what I did and it was great!!!! However, I did feel better on day 7. I was sore, but was driving, cleaning house and shopping on day 7-post-op. Good luck!:thumbup:

My doctor recommends that we don't drink these types of products and because I didn't drink them pre-band, it has been a non-issue for me.

I am unaware of people being able to physically know or feelwhen their port flips. I am aware of people finding out the port flipped, when they go to their doctor for a fill. You might know more when you have your next fill. If the doctor has trouble inserting the needle into the port, then there might be a problem. Good luck!

Hi Gottaloseit, good to hear from you. I did have some complications while is the hospital. My spleen tore from scar tissue from previous surgies and I had a terrible time with pain management, while in the hospital as well. However, I do not have any regrets. I knew there could be the possibility of complications and I accepted the risks associated to the surgery. Today, I have lost close to 40 pounds. I am able to exercise now without the back, knee and ankle pain that I had when I was 40 pounds heavier. My goal is to get healthy, so I can participate in my out-door sporting activities. If you believe you need medical assistance to address your health issue, which is your weight, then contact your doctor. Your BMI is not healthy at all and does qualify for the majority of insurances for WLS. Being 29 years of age would not effect your qualifying. I would contact my insurance company as well to determine what my WLS benefits are or are not. Just as a side note, by the time I was approved by my insurance for the band procedure my BMI was around 40.1 or something close to that. I never went below 40. Good luck!

CHICAGO (AP) -- The father of the California woman who gave birth to octuplets tells Oprah Winfrey that the actions of his daughter and her doctor were "absolutely irresponsible." Ed Doud says in an interview taped Thursday for "The Oprah Winfrey Show" that he questions the "mental situation" of his daughter. Thirty-three-year-old Nadya Suleman, who already had six children, gave birth to octuplets in late January after undergoing in vitro fertilization. In excerpts released by Harpo Productions Inc., Doud says Suleman and her children need help, and people shouldn't punish them for what she did by holding back on donations. Doud says he hopes Suleman will finish her education and start working so she can help support the family. The show is scheduled to air Tuesday.

I agree with everyone else. At least you are getting exercise in and that is a lot more than some people. So good job. I also agree with your assessment of maybe more intensity. Maybe add some light weights to the walk. I bet Jachut has some great tips too!

Today: Just stretches. I feel some what achy, so I just did band stretching hoping to losen me up. I just hope it is not the flu. It is going around work like crazy and people are dropping. :tt2:

I think a CPS action is a good thing. I work with social workers and dependency actions and appreciate the job they do. First and foremost they are charged with the task to ensure children are safe when an accusation is claimed. Being in the judicial system, I do see lots of parents who really, love their children, but are unable to provide food, shelter, medical care, and clothing. Love is great, but it cannot buy the basic necessities children need. I hope that someone is stepping in to ensure that all the children will have all their basic needs met.

Can you start using the product? I wouldn't sell, unless I used the product. I would not want to mislead people. Can she start providing you free samples, so you can become familiar with the product and see if it helps you with more weight loss?????

My personal opinion is you take care of your parents when they need you, because they took care of you. Well in Octo-mom's case her parents continue to take care of her. On t.v. her parents look so tired and worn out. And her parents are behind on their mortgage for the one house. This is so sad. Maybe, her parents can get some financial relief with their daughter finally being able to support herself. Not sure if she is able to support herself, but it sounds like money is coming from somewhere.
