After Surgery, Do Any Of You Struggle With Still Eating Too Fast ???
Denise, I was beginning to think I was the only one. Seems like so many people get that full or satisfied feeling and can stop and not be hungry again for 4 hours. Jean McMillan talks about satiety over fullness but I'm like you, my band only speaks to me when it's struggling to allow food to pass if I've eaten too much or too quickly. And I can graze non-stop as I seem to always be hungry(but never starved or ravenous). I'm still new to this(6 mos) so I continue to look for those signals. tmf

Yes You Can Drink And Eat At The Same Meal Time
This is good news imo but like the others, I'd like to see this study or research. I can tell you it takes longer than 1 minute for food to pass through my band. tmf

Started Exercising And Stopped Loosing Weight?
I'm doing something similar and although I haven't lost any weight in the last 10 days, I noticed my pants and a few shirts fit better or are looser. You're building muscle and that's a good thing but I know it's frustrating when the scale doesn't move. tmf

Surgery Is In 4 Days And I Am Terrified
I experienced no pain whatsoever. Piece of cake. I did have a little aching in my left shoulder for a week or more but nothing to be afraid of. You'll be fine. It's a simple operation if you're a low BMI like I was. tmf

After Surgery, Do Any Of You Struggle With Still Eating Too Fast ???
Shouldn't be a problem. You'll just have to adjust what you eat and stick with foods that don't cause for you to get stuck. You'll know what those foods are as you progress down the road. And, you won't be eating nearly as much so I don't see it as a "huge" problem. A speed bump, yes, but it's manageable. "Ask for your limitations and they're yours"...Richard Bach tmf

Not Losing Any Weight On Lapband Starting To Feel Discouraged
MrsPopeye, It does get better but usually it will take a few fills to get to that point. FYI-"It's just another diet until you get restriction"! You are pretty much on your own during this period but try looking for those foods that fill or satisfy your hunger. For me it's been salmon and some other fish. Hamburger seems to go down and satiates well too. I love meatloaf and that works. And yes, be happy, you're much closer to turning the corner on your journey than you were before surgery. tmf

Haven't Lost Weight In 3 Months... Advice
I agree with both waiting and honk. Go all out no carb for one week. And I mean no carbs and ramp up the exercise including some strength building days. It's just 7 days so most anyone can do it. No sugar of any kind including fruit, no flour, potatoes, dairy. 7 days won't kill you. Sliders, they're death to a bandster. tmf

New To All Of This
Since you're new to this, you might want to read some of the stories at this thread? http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/148296-has-the-band-actually-worked-for-you/ First time I've seen someone get this much response so quickly. It just reaffirms to me that I made the right decision and went with the band. tmf

Haven't Lost Weight In 3 Months... Advice
At this point in your journey it should be just a mathematical equation to losing weight? If your body needs 2000 calories a day to maintain and you re eating 1300 calories, you should be burning 700 more than you consume. It takes 3500 calories burned to lose 1 lb of fat. If you add exercise to the equation the results should be more dramatic. Do you keep a journal? I didn't and still don't but when I was stalled for 3 months I sat down with our nutritionist and she pointed out about 300 extra calories a day I could eliminate. I kicked up my exercise program and lost 19 lbs over the next 2 months. I've plateaued for the last week and will start a journal to see where I'm going wrong? I know I'm eating too much fruit and maybe some other foods that are slowing me down so the journal can help me get back on a lower calorie track. It's easy to stray and convince myself I'm not eating around my band. Give the journal a try and be sure to enter your exercise results every day. tmf

Help! I Need To Drop 10Lbs!
Read the label. I've never had a low carb Protein shake but I'd bet they taste bad? The higher carb ones taste awful.JMO. Low or no carb means just that. You really can't screw up and drink or eat anything with carbs in it. Just make sure you read the label. tmf

Just Banded 22May And Feeling A Little Frustrated And Slightly Out Of Control
I too went on pureed about 4 days after surgery. If you can't eat the pureed yet, substitute a Protein shake and count it as a portion of your liquids. Here's a manual the Grandma(her handle here) posted. http://www.peachtreebariatrics.com/docs/Gastric-Band-Patient-Manual.pdf Now, this is a manual by a different doctor and you should follow your own doctors advice but this is a basic outline that many of us followed. tmf

Need Some Support!
Looks like we're the only ones around tonight Maddie. Man I love fast food. I know it's crap, but a big juicy bacon cheeseburger and fries. Yum. And taco bell, love it. A footlong subway double meat!!!! But, everything in moderation eh? Tell yourself you'll reward yourself once a month with a trip to a fast food shack and get back on track with eating right. You don't want to spend money buying fat clothes again do you? If you did it in 2011 you can do it in 2012. Richard Bach (Jonathan Livingston Seagull) wrote a book called "Illusions". Here's one of my favorite quotes from his book, and I highly recommend it for bandsters. "Ask for your limitations and they're yours". In other words, If you say you can't, you won't. Enjoy the rest of your holiday and eat right K? tmf

Stalled Weight Loss
You are still in the healing phase of your journey and shouldn't be worrying about weight loss just yet. How can you be stalled when you've lost 11 lbs in 3 weeks? And stalled to most of us would be one month with no downward movement. You are doing just as well as most anyone who posts here so continue on as you are. You can only expect to lose 1-2 lbs per week after your stomach heals. And even then there will be weeks when you may not lose weight. tmf
-
Restriction Question
I've had 6 unfortunately. As long as you feel like you're satisfied after eating a small meal and that satiety remains for 3-4 hours, why rock the boat? If you're already in the green zone wait till next week and cancel the fill? Or, go in and brag how well you're doing? tmf

Wanna Say Thank You
OK, so I had to peek. Wow, I'm so jealous, I was banded two weeks after you and look how well you've done. I may be stepping out of turn here but where the hell did your butt go? It's like you just shaved it off. tmf
