  1. It is just one of the many stalls that you will have. The first one is usually around three weeks. It is extremely common. If you search it on here you will see how many people experience it by How many results.
  2. The only problem is with that amount you may get low. I bet you could tolerate a lower dose of just iron another time of day though. Just gotta still work it out where you take it all two hours away from the calcium.
  3. My BMI was on the low end and my knees were only beginning to hurt and only with vigorous exercise so I was kinda like you. It wasn’t like I was unhealthy. but I knew that I was gaining weight year after year so it was only a matter of time before my knees hurt worse and limited my movement more making me gain even more weight and that would limit me even further. It was just beginning but it was going to snowball out of control. There were other reasons that I did it though, I was sitting out of things because I was embarrassed of my size or I didn’t have anything to wear that I felt good in and stuff like that and Despite all the crazy diets I tried i was only going to gain more. I am now over a year out and I had very little pain post op and no food intolerances or anything like that. I did not lose as much weight as I hoped. I reached my first goal which was an easy one but couldn’t reach the second. I am on meds that make weight loss a little more difficult. My point is that I did not get to my dream weight but I am still VERY glad that I did it because I am at least comfortable at this weight to go out and live my life again.
  4. I definitely eat out of boredom the most. I literally go to the fridge mindlessly and grab things. I sometimes get to the table with it and then get up and put it away cause I know I am not really hungry I just want something. It’s weird how some people do that but others like my husband actually dread having to eat. He thinks it’s a chore. For me I guess it’s almost fun (something to do).
  5. Ooh that’s cool.
  6. What is gene sight test?
  7. That small of an increase could be anything. Retaining water, full bowels, etc. Fluctuations of a up to a few pounds can even happen within a single day. I wouldn’t worry too much about that. And as for the few days without losing it’s possible that you hit your three week stall early. It’s so common that they have that name for it. It happens “around” the third week for most. If the little fluctuations are going to bother you you may be better to weigh yourself less often because stalls do happen and so do those small fluctuations. As long as the overall trend is down you will be fine.
  8. That describes many of us who get this surgery. Have you worked out whether you have any disordered eating? I still struggle with boredom and emotional eating and those things are tough. I can’t find a therapist that specializes in it in my area but if do have any issues it’s best to sort those out pre up.
  9. Congratulations on your surgery date. Have you started your pre op diet yet?
  10. It sounds like you are similar to me. I didn’t eat a lot of junk food or anything. I just ate a lot, period. I have to admit now that the hunger hormones are back this has been a challenge with the sleeve because you technically can eat a small amount and then eat again on an hour if you want to. Thing is, now that I have lost the weight I am committed to staying this size and that somehow gives me the willpower to not just eat to eat like I used to. In the beginning it’s easier cause most of us lose the hunger hormone so you can lose the weight.
  11. For me it would be two minutes. If that. My husband always says slow down NoOne is going to take you food. Lol
  12. I never noticed. Although I still eat kinda fast. It doesn’t cause me any issues so As much as I try to eat slower, I don’t think I slowed down as mich as many of you.
  13. I was just thinking, their persistence to take you out could Have been out of lack of another plan. They knew they wanted to do SOMETHING for you for Mother’s Day and didn’t have any other ideas. Perhaps if you come up with something not food related that you would rather do in the future and you suggest it they will not pressure you so much to do dinner out??
  14. I personally don’t eat out much but many people on here do post surgery (a few months post). They just make choices like grilled chicken and veggies or salad with protein and a low calorie dressing (or without dressing). Earlier out soup is the only option of course. You can order just broth most places or ask them to strain one of their soups for you. Your menu will look different than the rest of the family but it doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the family time. It may take a While before you can enjoy yourself doing this though because you are probably morning the loss of food. I wish I had advice of how to make them understand it’s just easier for you not to go out right now. It’s hard. I remember my mom not understanding that when we went out for my birthday to Chick-fil-A that even a salad didn’t fit within my calorie budget because their dressings were too high in calories. I have since learned that their vinaigrette with the market salad isn’t too bad. I just leave off the other toppings and it worked. It’s takes a while but you will find that most places have at least one thing on the menu that you can eat. And eventually you will be in maintenance and you will have even more options that you can eat in moderation.
  15. It is pretty quick once you complete all the requirements but many people if they are going through insurance are required to do a 3-6 month medically managed weight loss attempt. It’s just an insurance hoop you have to jump through which requires you to go to an appointment monthly and get weighed but it has to be completed before they submit to insurance for approval if it’s required.
  16. Ooh wow you did them very often. Yea I was required every 90 days for my first year by my surgeon and now I will still see the surgeon annually, but if you have a family doctor they ask you to have them order your labs after that first year. Must be nice that they still get paid for a visit every year but don’t have to worry about labs anymore. Really, assuming I maintain my weight, I don’t see that I will need anything from them but they need to record my weight for their statistics yet I have to pay them. If I didn’t have insurance I probably wouldn’t go at this point but I think it still may help me with accountability to some degree.
  17. Congratulations on your surgery date.
  18. Ooh I do still get labs done. I will annually forever as far as I know. I just go through my family doctor ordering them and my insurance pays the majority of the tests so I don’t need to pay a third party website to order them especially since that means insurance won’t cover the tests.
  19. Some bariatric surgery centers host clothing swaps. Mine doesn’t unfortunately but I have heard of some that do.
  20. Although it’s not as common as constipation this is not the first time I have heard of this. I am not sure if you can take something such as immodium?? I would contact my team to be sure. You can definitely try gas ex for the gas and heating pads some say help as well.
  21. If it’s your vitamin there are things you can try such as taking with food/ protein shake but if it’s other pill that shouldn’t be causing nausea I agree you should contact your dr.
  22. I was told to take colace post surgery by the dr and I had to take milk of magnesia when it had been several days but that worked fine and I went that night. Then I was told to take soluable fiber such as benefiber daily to keep things moving and I haven’t had any problem since. Walmart has generic benefiber powder that is far more reasonable, fyi.
  23. I don’t think I will ever lose enough weight to make my cushion go away there. they do make butt pads though. They are like shorts with pads sewn in. ?
