  1. That’s a really good idea. Maybe try to change one habit at a time but before surgery so it’s one less thing to worry about.
  2. I agree I would wait until I was getting in an excess of 64 ounces of fluids.
  3. Seriously you gave me such a chuckle because that is exactly the kind of thing I worry about. Pre WLS I was a Coke Zero fiend. I drank like a 12 pack a day (so yes you can live without water I’m proof). Anyways, as I left from visiting my grandma in her nursing home each week I would begin to wonder about things like how will I get my Coke Zero and my snacks since I do not have kids. I was glad when Walmart delivery started in my area because a lot of times Amazon is out of Coke Zero and I will be counting on those services someday to get my stuff. PS you don’t have to continue on protein shakes but some of us choose to stay on one a day even after it’s required but don’t worry Amazon delivers these as well ?
  4. OMG this sounds so much like something I would have come up with to worry about. Lol You will be fine. I am over a year out and I eat on the same schedule I did pre op and I have been for quite a while. You eventually get back to a “normal” way of eating. You will eat close to a normal serving size (not a restaurant serving that is three times what you need) and you will eat that and should be satisfied. You may eat snacks. Some teams allow them and others do not. But you will be fine when you get old as long as they feed you as much as often as they feed themselves.
  5. I agree with lizonaplane, I was thin when I met my husband. Like size zero thin because I had just gone through a divorce and I lost weight but by the time he asked me to marry him I was chunky and I continued to gain from there. Now he probably wouldn’t lie and say that I was his ideal size but he still loved me for me. Now post WLS I am a size ten because this seems to be where my body is happy and he acts more like he is physically attracted to me again. You know the pats on the butt and noticing a new pair of jeans, that sort of thing. Although he never would have admitted that he wasn’t before. I think that this would apply to someone who likes bigger women and them getting slimmer as well. They may not be as attracted to you if your relationship was only surface level but if someone loves you they love you for all of you and that’s not going to change just because of a change of appearance.
  6. lol. Well at least temporarily you will lose a pound or two.
  7. Okay so I am over a year out now. I was warned by the nurse practitioner that statistically people with bipolar disorder do not always lose as much weight so I made My goal a little higher so I would not be dissapointed. My first goal was 180. Well I reached that and was still losing so I set it to 160. I got down to 169 rather quickly and I stayed there for months and then I started gaining. I gained to 179 and Now I have been stuck right around this weight for months. At this point I honestly don’t see myself getting back to 169, never mind 160. My hunger hormone is back and it will not allow me to reduce my calories anymore. I have decided that If I can actually maintain it, I think I can be happy at this weight. I am in normal sizes at least and only technically “overweight” by a little bit. I will not be happy if I gain anymore though. In a perfect world I would’ve gotten down to 160 and made another goal for 140 but on the meds I am on I guess that is just not possible. Anyways, whenever I look at the 160 it is depressing me. Should I just change it back to 180?? I know it is just a number but it is making me feel like a failure for not reaching my goal. Don’t laugh, I’m my mind it’s a big deal for some reason.
  8. Yes. It wasn’t long after I got back to normal foods that I began to try foods just to make sure I could still tolerate them. Some people take a little while longer to tolerate some things but I was fine with everything I tried and I can now eat anything I had pre surgery to include bread and lettuce which are two things that give a lot of people some trouble for a while.
  9. That may have been from the artificial sweetener that it worked as a laxative. This is the case for many people. Even those without WLS.
  10. Don’t forget that your weight varies by like 3-5 pounds based on time of day too. I always went in the morning and one time I went late afternoon and it seemed like I had gained and I was upset but then the next morning I was back down. I thought my new scale at home was off and I had gained since the dr scale was the same.
  11. Man those bruises look just awful. How much longer do you have to do those shots? Maybe if your tummy starts to feel better you should try them there? With the nurse suggesting them there and someone else saying theirs didn’t hurt too bad maybe it really is better to do them in that location. So Glad to hear the pills are going down better with the warm broth. I never would have thought of trying that. Hope you feel like you did in that first pic real soon.
  12. If I were you I would continually remind myself that WLS is a relatively very safe procedure that you get to go into as a planned procedure. Think of all the possible risks and complications that will come with all the procedures and surgeries you will most likely need and have no choice but to do if you do nothing about your weight.
  13. Wow. I don’t understand much of that but it doesn’t sound fun. I am glad you have your consult Monday. For most of us insurance requires 6 months of a physician monitored diet before they approve the surgery but it goes by faster than you think.
  14. Ha That gave me a good chuckle.
  15. Cool. Let me know if you like them. If so I will order them for my hubby for his Christmas stocking, lol.
  16. Absolutely not. I feel like this idea of a higher tolerance for pain isn’t real anyways. Some people have more trauma to their bodies and so they have more pain than others. We all had the same surgery but all of our anatomy is slightly different so for some the surgery is easier for them to do than others. I think I got lucky on this one because i have a long torso which seems like it must’ve given them more room than they are used to to do their work. Most people are feeling at least a little better after a week or so but some take a little longer. However long it takes is okay. Be kind to yourself and you will be back to normal before you know it.
  17. Congratulations on starting your journey. Lizonaplane has a great suggestion. From my experience They don’t mind taking time to answer your questions at all But they don’t want to hang around if they think your done either so if you have a list it’s easier to make sure you don’t forget anything. Most likely you do have to do the monthly visits for several months so you will still get more chances to ask questions but after the initial visit you may see the NP until closer to surgery day. My NP was extremely knowledgeable and easier to talk to so I didn’t mind that at all. She answered all my questions and I had a lot. Lol
  18. Ooh that sounds really good with the ground Turkey. And it looks very yummy too.
  19. If I were you I wouldn’t suffer needlessly until then. I would call them and ask. The girls up front probably know the answer and if they don’t they shouldn’t mind checking.
  20. I would ask your team. It seems like the issue with NSAID’s was because of the stomach and I doubt a cream would have anything to do with that. I am by no means certain of this so definitely ask though.
  21. Congratulations. Keep up the good work.
  22. I agree with using all the other tools that helo those of us with weight loss surgery to include a nutritionist and a bariatric therapist. Sometimes I wonder how much of it is that and how much is the actual surgery since most of us do not do those two options until we are forced to in order to get the surgery. They are both VERY big components that contribute to success and they could help you without surgery as well.
  23. Great idea and then you wouldn’t have as far to go afterwards either. Maybe splurge and order room service. Turn it into a mini weekend getaway
