  1. Are you allowed broth, SF popsicles and SF jello? I had so many of those thing between pre and post op phases that I don’t care to eat any of it ever again. A lot of people really do say that warm liquids help some so I would try that if you haven’t yet and if you are allowed caffeine try caffeinated tea or coffee. You could also call your doctor and ask if you can adjust your schedule to add a fourth protein shake. I would definitely ask though because some people medically can have too much protein.
  2. If it’s just stomach grumbling it doesn’t necessarily mean you are hungry. My stomach post surgery grumbles often. Most often when it is digesting in fact. Don’t get me wrong some people do still have hunger post op but it is more of the exception than the rule. Sometimes it just takes a while to get used to hearing the sound that used to mean you were starving and Interpret it differently. Either way, some have said that warm liquids such as broth, tea or coffee help. Also, are you on PPI’s. I didn’t need them but some say they help. That it’s actually acid that makes you feel hungry.
  3. My pouch somehow was bigger so I have not felt “full” yet. At each stage I could physically eat more than expected for that stage so I have had to measure my food and learn to stop eating when I finish my portion and hopefully feel satisfied rather than full. The decreased hunger helps with that tremendously i’m sure. I couldn’t imagine that I could have measured out a portion and just stopped pre op.
  4. I lost my actual hunger post op but not the head hunger. I know this because head hunger emerges when I am board. I noticed that if I was just sitting around watching tv I was watching the clock for my next meal but If I was even remotely busy with anything I would forget to eat alltogether. I think alot of people may be board sitting home from work so they may experience head hunger until they get back into their routine. That’s just a guess though.
  5. Well if you are eating closer to the one ounce per serving all day I worry that you may not be getting enough protein. You may want to supplement with shakes. If you are closer to the 4 oz I think that is close to where I was. Everyone is different though. If your team gave you a plan I would stick to that.
  6. Most people are able to drink water relatively normal before they are a year out. It will be advised that you always chew your food well and eat slower because it allows you to get that full signal from your brain before you overeat but I don’t think everyone still chews 30 times at a year out. I know I don’t but I didn’t ever have issues with food going down. I chewed it really well through all the post op phases but by the time I got to normal foods I was only eating a little slower then I did pre op. I think I am the exception though in that. i get what you are saying about the risk. I am a little younger but I was a lower BMI as well. I was a 35 BMI when I started the process. A little Less at time of surgery. I was just beginning to get knee pain with heavy exercise though and I was steadily gaining like 5-10 pounds a year despite the yo yo diets so I knew it was just a matter of time before that started to limit me physically. I wanted to get ahead of it. It was also limiting me going out and doing things I enjoy simply because I felt uncomfortable or couldn’t find clothes I felt comfortable in, etc. I decided that life is too short to stay locked in the house not liking myself if there was another option. I am over a year out now. Down 55 pounds and couldn’t be happier that I did the surgery.
  7. I was the same way at every stage I could eat more than expected. I just had to measure my food and eat how much I was supposed to but the process still worked.
  8. When I started getting dehydrated my doctor arranged for me to get fluids as an outpatient. I got a couple bags and I felt sooooo much better.
  9. I was really tired for a while. I just gave in and took naps. I wanna say it was a couple weeks out before I stopped napping at all.
  10. I haven’t had anyone say anything but I guess I would just say no my stomach does that when it’s digesting. I’m sure they really don’t care that it’s noisy. They are only concerned that you may be starving. Once you tell them you really aren’t it will be no big deal.
  11. My stomach makes all kinds of crazy noises too. It takes a while but you get used to it.
  12. Yea I thought of that after my post and edited my comment to say that I know you can have it sooner but I’m really not sure what phase that would be in.
  13. Hello and welcome to the group. There are so many helpful people here to help you through the process. I am over a year out now and couldn’t be happier with me decision to have WLS.
  14. They make watermelon flavor in the Walmart brand crystal light. Would that help your craving?? Or watermelon flavored jello maybe??
  15. I never had reason to ask but I’m gonna say regular foods because of the seeds. I’m sure you could have seedless watermelon sooner but can’t say when. Sorry.
  16. First off, PLEASE DO NOT CHEAT. At this time it wouldn’t be just a few extra calories. Your tummy is still healing and you could seriously hurt yourself. That being said it is possible what you are experiencing is actual hunger (a few do) but more likey that it is just extra acid or head hunger. Are you on a PPI? Many doctors prescribe them automatically but some you have to ask for it. The way to know the difference between actual and head hunger is by what you are craving. If you are craving something specific (usually something you should not have) it is most likely head hunger. Actual hunger you will be craving anything. Even another protein shake sounds good. Some people say warm liquids such as tea and coffee help with the hunger whatever the cause. Not sure if you can have caffeine yet but I’m sure decaf works as well.
  17. I weigh myself every morning after I pee. Early out it can sorta mess with your head but I did it anyways. Couldn’t help myself. Lol
  18. These are things you may want to talk to the bariatric therapist about. If you aren’t sure you can follow the rules then maybe you aren’t quite ready. Maybe you need to explore these concerns a little further. You don’t have to rush the process. Wait until you are ready.
  19. For some people certain things like bread sit heavy and they lose interest in it or certain meats are dry and just harder to swallow but that’s not everyone. I am 14 months out and I can eat anything I ate pre op. Just in smaller portions.
  20. Well getting sick should certainly teach you but hopefully you learn by just not doing it because you know you will get sick.
  21. You will most likely get sick if you take too big of bites. Especially in the beginning.
  22. You will have to work on both of these things. The sleeve surgery should reduce your hunger hormone and will make you eat smaller portions but it won’t stop you from going back for seconds and thirds after a bit of time passes. If you are eating because you are board or because of emotions you may benefit from a bariatric therapist because boredom and emotional eating is disordered eating. The fluids you will have to learn to take smaller sips more often but your body should send you signals to help make that change. It will hurt if you drink too fast.
  23. You are experiencing what is called body dysmorphia. Many people benefit from taking a current photo of themselves and putting it next to a pre op photo.
  24. Yea you have to set a goal that is realistic for YOUR body. But that doesn’t mean you have to stop there of course if you are still losing easily. I went past 180 and tried for 160 but I only got to 169 and then I gained so I realized that I had reached my low weight and gained back the typical ten pounds that most people do before they settle in to their maintenance weight.
  25. I was able to drink fairly normal that same day In the hospital. I think The amount of inflammation varies drastically from person to person and this really impacts the drinking the first few days.
