  1. Yea I was very lucky to not have much pain post op but I was tired a lot. Constantly napping I just gave in to it. I would set my alarm to get up and walk or drink and just binge watched shows I have already seen cause I kept falling asleep.
  2. Well it’s not much help but they do have prescription patches that they had me wear at the hospital for nausea. They go behind your ear and they had me put it on before surgery. Perhaps the dr can prescribe them if the pills aren’t working (it’s sounds like he may be vomiting it up before it has a chance to absorb). The only problem may be that they take a while to kick in but if the pills aren’t working at all maybe waiting a couple hours for relief won’t be that bad. At least he will get some relief. To answer your question about the patches. The prescription ones at least must work because I had zero nausea post surgery and I have had 3 other surgeries and woke up nauseous every time.
  3. I’m sure yours were better but I was looking to cut calories and I asked the waitress at my local bbq place if they could make ribs with sugar free sauce if I requested it ahead or something. She suggested getting them dry and using my own sauce so I did what they call “dry” ribs as takeout for dinner tonight. I used sweet baby rays hickory sugar free sauce. They weren’t bad. Satisfied my craving at least.
  4. It’s been a little while how are you doing now, it’salbright
  5. I just received these doughnuts and apparently they do freeze well cause it says to refrigerate or freeze them right away because there are no preservatives. They are good for 30 days in fridge or 6 months in freezer. As if they will last that long. lol. I just tried one of the cinnamon sugar ones and they are quite tasty in my opinion. I mean it’s not a real doughnut but not bad considering.
  6. I didn’t have that pain but if you search incision pain on this site there are over 17k posts about it. You may be able to find someone who has already posted what you are looking for if you do a search.
  7. I agree. Just pick a menu item that your family likes and research it a bit. Just type low calorie blank, or low carb blank and see what comes up. That’s how I found the lower calorie nachos because someone on here posted nachos and made me want them so I searched for a lower calorie option. Then I made them even lower by using the baked chips and the reduced fat cheese. And how I learned about the sugar free bbq sauce is I was craving baby back ribs so I searched for low calorie ribs. And I found out about sweet baby rays hickory sugar free sauce on this site. It has to be the hickory one though. The original sugar free isn’t as good. I just got some ribs from my local bbq spot that are DRY and I am having them for dinner tonight with my sugar free sauce.
  8. I agree with starting now. If you have a handful of meals that you cook regularly ask for suggestions of calorie cutting tips or healthier options for those meals. Like for instance using frozen cauliflower crust for making pizza and topping it with chicken and veggies instead of pepperoni and real crust cuts calories and adds protein. Tacos can be made with ground Turkey and fat free cheese or made fresco style. I recently posted recipes in the recipe section for chicken and black bean nachos that I made with baked Tostito scoops and low-fat cheese and also for zucchini pizza stacks that were delicious. The pizza stacks are a little more calorie dense because of the pepperoni but you could try Turkey pepperoni to cut calories even further. I don’t recommend leaving it out alltogether I tried that and didn’t get the pizza flavor without it Little swaps, though, like Using low carb wraps anywhere you can instead of bread cuts calories. And finding sugar free and lower calorie dressings and sauces will help cut tons of calories. Also using spray Pam instead of oil to cook with or just measuring your oil and sticking to a smaller amount. During your weight loss phase you will probably have to cut down even further leaving some things off your plate but Once you get to maintenance things will get back to your new normal. I would just make a few swaps here and there to start and then a few more once those have been accepted by the family. Some things you will find don’t taste bad in lower calorie options and they are pretty painless changes. Others you may get a little grief about. ?
  9. Well it certainly looks good. Mouth is watering and I just ate.
  10. I agree with others. If you have a family history of those conditions you may still have them despite losing weight but if they were brought on by obesity then losing weight should resolve them. My husband for instance has always been very fit and he still has high BP and ironically doesn’t even like salt. It’s weird but there is nothing he can do to get off the meds. And now for me post surgery my triglycerides are creeping up, but this runs in my family even in those with a healthy weight so I’m guessing it was going to happen regardless of my weight or surgery. So I guess the short answer is yes some of your issues should resolve but not necessarily all of them.
  11. I agree I don’t enjoy them either. Great idea to just wait with them till it’s time so you don’t end up missing out on all the good conversation while they are in line though. Never thought of that.
  12. I ordered this and it DID work for my salad dressing in terms of it being thicker. The only thing I didn’t like is that the cap is not air tight so once the dressing is up in the lid I worry about it not being sealed. I use yogurt dressing so I’m not sure that’s safe. I’m sure for oil it will be fine though. I just washed it out and I’m going to put olive oil in it and stick to my little disposable containers for my dressing.
  13. I don’t know when your surgery was so it’s kinda hard to tell but once your like a year out it’s normal to be able to eat around one serving of most things. For some, bread sits heavy. They are lucky in my opinion because I, like you, could eat an entire bagel if I let myself. I guess in the future maybe only put half on your plate just in case. I have to measure out my food at 16 months out because I can eat more than I should. But if I stop and wait a little while I realize I am satisfied on less.

Steamed or roasted veggies like peppers and carrots could work until you can do raw. Or just eat it with a spoon. That’s what I did. Lol
  15. Good for you for taking this approach. You will be in a great place when you officially start your journey. Congratulations on the weight loss.
  16. We have intuition for a reason. You trusted your gut and I’m certain that was the right choice for you. You have come this far now and are so close to the finish line. Just hang in there a tiny bit longer.
  17. If you are showing any signs of dehydration contact your surgeon. They should be able to arrange for you to get fluids as an out patient before you require going to hospital.
  18. While technically going to different doctors looking for a different answer is doctor shopping, I think this is really only a bad thing if you are trying to get meds and stuff that you really don’t need. There is nothing wrong with getting a second or even a third opinion. I agree that knowing WHY they are saying they don’t want to do revision. Could be as simple as that your insurance doesn’t cover it or as complex as a medical issue that makes it dangerous. But if it’s the former you always should be given the option to finance and if it’s the latter than another doctor with a different approach may be able to help you. I would call and ask them why. Tell them you are seeking other answers and need to know why they feel you are not a candidate. Also, I just got an email yesterday about the use of diabetes medications now being accepted for weight loss Something like GLB-1?? They are difficult to get covered by insurance and not cheap but being covered by more and more every day Dr. Weiner, a weight loss surgeon says. Perhaps worth looking into.
  19. Absolutely better than they “you have such a pretty face” comment.
  20. I’m assuming you were already taking bariatric formulations of your vitamins and those didn’t work. Yea the injections seems like a logical solution since they bypass the stomach alltogether. Hopefully your primary doctor can arrange for those.
  21. If you click on the search icon (little magnifying glass) and search July you will find a couple threads that already exist with July surgery people as well.
  22. I think the OP may have posted this twice because I have responded to this already. My suggestion was to get their family doctor to help advocate for her with the surgeon assuming he is aware of what’s going on and more familiar with the patient.
  23. It sounds like you did but just in case for you or for others reading this, make sure to check with the pharmacy before opening or crushing anything. With some medications this can actually be harmful. Now to answer your question. I did not have anything as big as a capsule but I did have three pills I needed to take and I took them the next day after surgery (as in swallows them whole) without any issues. Some people do have more swelling though and pills can be hard for a few days. If so, most can be opened or crushed and taken with a bit of applesauce.
  24. Sounds like the answer is that he or she has never seen this. I do agree with making sure to take your birth control pills because it can help regulate your period but also you are super fertile right now. Many doctors recommend redundant forms of birth control immediately post op for a while. Have you asked your surgeon about your symptoms??
  25. Sorry I missed this post yesterday not that I had any advice to share but I would have said good luck at the dr at least. We’re you able to Get any answers at least.
