  1. I only weigh in once a week, keeps me from obsessing! you can gain/lose up to 5-6 lbs of water daily so I don't sweat it. I am 8 weeks out and down 40 lbs. one third of the way to my goal. I am right there with you on that 'one bite too many' I can tell right away when it is too much. I have only really overaten once and it was stress/emotions related. gotta learn to conquer that!
  2. WOO HOO! I have United healthcare and they required 5 yrs of history plus a 6 month supervised diet to 'prove' I can follow a program I guess?
  3. Glad to hear he is on board. I have a friend whose doc also does not provide pain meds. CRAZY. I had the ON-Q pain pump and it was AMAZING! GO YOU! I'm so glad you did this!
  4. WOW lots of bad knees here lol I am bone on bone as well, lots of basketball, etc. I'm not sure I will do knee replacement any time soon but I'm sure I will need to do it at some point.
  5. lol so many forums, so little time. my doc recommends between 800-1000 and always have more protein than carbs in whatever I eat.
  6. I am between 800 and 1000 calories right now. some days more than others. but is still struggle with protein.
  7. I am 52, mother of four, grandmother of four, have 4 furbabies.....hmm seeing a pattern. lol My youngest has special needs so a lot of my energy goes to him. He is part of the reason I did this. My partner is a great source of support and I am hoping she may take the same steps soon, for her health.
  8. I meal prep a lot. so ill do baked chicken breast, or if I'm lazy get a big rotisserie chicken from sam's or make turkey meatloaf for protein. we always have sliced turkey and ham in the fridge, then I grab various veggies and stuff, yogurt, sugar free jello or pudding, beef jerky for snacks.
  9. We have the same surgery date! I am 52 yrs old. I feel like 40! this surgery has lifted me so high, emotionally, spiritually! You are never too old!
  10. Most store bought baby food has NO nutritional value anyway. it is mostly rice. My doctor advised me to stay away from it all together. PLUS it is GROSS lol
  11. Not until about 5 weeks in... I ate 4 mcdonalds French fries...that is all I could hold. I also tried FRITOS, my very most favorite snack. no issues with either but have been being pretty strict
  12. It is so interesting to see the difference in experiences, everyone is different. Please don't let this get you down, we have all been there. This is why we are here, to share our fears, get a boost and a "Chin up girl"! The liquid stage is hard but you should be able to soon tolerate yummy things like yogurts, and pudding, jello and pureed fruits! My saving grace////Lemon meringue yogurt with a dollop of sugar free cool whip. PROTEIN AND DESSERT.
  13. Funny you should mention flintstones. lol I am currently taking two a day of my sons waiting on my next shipment to arrive
  14. hmmm may have to try this crust recipe. wonder if I can freeze it to use in the future? been doing cauliflower crust but it is sooo messy
  15. I was thinking about doing these too.
  16. My regimen was clear liquids 3 days, Full liquids 21 days, Purees until 5 weeks. Still trying to do softer foods. but so far nothing has bothered me!
  17. You can get the Bariatric vitamins on Amazon. Around $50 for 90 days supply. B12 is super important. I take a separate B12 supplement. I take the bariatric advantage multi vitamin.
  18. I have taken omeprazole for years so my doc doubled my does after surgery just to be safe. The cough is definitely indicative of GERD or any type of reflux. get some OTC to try. if it helps then get your doc to prescribe it for you if ins will cover, as long term it can get pricey!
  19. that is going to be different for everyone. I did not eat any meat other than chicken the first six weeks and stuck with soft rotisserie type. A friend who had surgery two days after me was eating roast at three weeks, a little indigestion and constipation, but no other issues. Listen to your body. it will tell you what it likes!
  20. Not full liquids but I did 2 shakes a day and one meal midday. usually a salad with protein like chicken or tuna. I lost 9 lbs. for that two week period.
  21. At age 52 my breasts are certainly beyond help LOL but I have noticed on my face, neck and chest I am starting to see the difference. a good firming cream should help. the nerium products have a riming cream that worked pretty well for me on my upper legs
  22. 6 wks post op on Tuesday. have not had chicken yet but figuring to start out with a nice rotisserie chicken from Sam's. very soft and flavorful.
  23. I forgot to take measurements before all this got going. I could kick myself because I know it is more dramatic than what shows on my scale! Don't get me wrong, 31lbs in 5 weeks is amazing but my clothes are falling off! lol
