  1. As everyone and anyone will tell you comparing your progress with others usually comes to no good. If you use the info you are asking for to make healthy/sustainable changes or as a source of peaceful motivation, than yay! But if the info gives you angst and sends you in an im-a-failure spiral, then boo. With that said, i will assume you are an even-headed adult, and, because you asked: I too am 5’2, and I started my 2 week pre-op diet at 235 lbs. I was 46 when I had the sleeve. At my 4.5 months post i was down 80.1 lbs (that includes the 11.8 lbs i lost during the 2-wk pre-op diet). At 7 months post i called goal when I hit 127 lbs (108 lbs lost for those lazy-mathers). Stabilized at 115-ish at around 10 months post. Its been 4 years since i had my surgery and i bounce around 115-120 (closer to 120 these days). Regarding clothes sizes, in the beginning i felt like i was going down a size every 2 weeks. It slowed down as i neared goal.
  2. Yeah, speak to ur doc…if there is something you need to be worried about, he’ll let u know. I’m 4 years out, i dont eat much at one sitting (compared to “normal” people) or i’ll feel icky and or sick or barf. I also dont eat very fast, not eat alot of sugar at once nor on an empty stomach…cuz yeah, i’ll feel icky or sick or barf..in the case of too much sugar, add in racing heart, lethargy, headaches, the runs… If you are down with tracking, try finding a pattern to the sick feelings and what/how fast/when you are eating. You may find the culprit or at least learn what YOUR limits are. Good Luck! ❤️
  3. Sometimes i eat junk. (I am 4 years post op and have been in maintenance for over 3 years and have long ago learned what i can eat without imploding) I haven’t eaten since 2 pm yesterday (i got distracted by errands and then was just too pooped by end of day to do anything but sleep!), so i woke up pretty starving this AM. So when im super hungry, i don’t have the patience to cook something suitable so i just grabbed whatever was laying around. In this case it was a cold piece of bacon, 1/2 a Chinese bbq pork bun and a handful of ketchup chips!! Aside: this is actually a life lesson to have healthy things laying around so u dont end up with a breakfast like this lol. Had I eaten it all, it would’ve been 397 calories. Ended up just eating the cold bacon, the meat filling of the bun and some of the bun that got in the way of the filling lol. Estimated 159 cals for what i ate. (will likely eat the chips later though if someone doesn’t get to it first!)
  4. < deleted post > Oopsies wrong thread!
  5. Like others said, maintenance calories differ for everyone depending on body composition, lifestyle and genes. I’m 5’2” female, 50 yrs old, moderately active, 117.8 lbs (this morning) I’ve been maintaining this weight +/- a couple lbs for the past 2 years at about 1800-2000 cals a day. In comparison, i was able to maintain this same weight range 3 years ago eating as much as 2500 cals average a day…but I was waaaaay more active back then. Tracking your food consumption, weight and activity levels helps to pinpoint YOUR maintenance calories for a given desired weight. But i realize this is not for everyone…in that case just make adjustments (i.e., change your food intake, exercise frequency, sleep habits, etc) if you notice your weight (or how your clothes fit) go in a direction that you are unwilling to go. Good Luck! ❤️
  6. I basically lived on these for the first 3-4 months: - 1 scoop Isopure Low Carb Dutch Chocolate Protein Powder - 1 tsp decaf instant coffee crystals - 2 tsp Benefibre - 1 cup of ice - fill up with water to make 500ml Blend and Enjoy! 25g protein, yummy and helps to keep u regular! Now i don’t like sweet drinks and the Dutch Chocolate flavour was the least sweet of all the protein powders i tried. So if you prefer sweet, this may not be for you. I also liked (and still do) to drink carbonated water (i.e., Perrier or similar) with a squeeze of lemon. But again if, like me, you like non-sweet drinks.
  7. +1 Last year I consciously upped my arbitrary “red-line” weight by a 5 measly pounds. Its made a difference: i find i don’t have to do “reign-ins” anymore when i start to approach it, because i just don’t with a higher number. So thats just one less thing to worry about. AND, in my opinion (which is really all that matters), i still look and feel fabulous lol. Win-win. P.S. but I totally get it, i went through a short period of panic/anxiety in the immediate months of maintenance. As time goes by, hopefully you’ll learn to trust yourself and accept things as they are, or change them if desired, and know when to do either (yeah, i ripped that off of some invocation, lol) Good Luck! ❤️
  8. Edited to add: Oopsies, OP was asking about RNY…i was sleeved. My response anyway: 4 years out next month. On average I can eat about a cup of food (solids) in volume at one sitting comfortably. More if its salad or chips, less if its meat or fluffy bread. I can drink seemingly endless amounts of liquids (so long as i dont eat anything solid before or during). This is quite a bit more that I was able to tolerate comfortably in the first year or so (i ate very little at a time…i was a grazer by necessity…ate a few bites and i was done for a couple hours) But compared to how much I ate pre-surgery, i would say I eat about 1/4 of what i used to eat at a sitting pre-wls. I aim to eat to a point just before my full feeling, cuz i know from experience that reaching that full feeling is uncomfortable and i just prefer not to be.
  9. Vodka sodas (NOT tonics…tonic water has lotsa calories!) with LOTS of lime was my go to the first year or so after surgery. Also dry red wine. Like others said, take it slow…you won’t know how you will be affected…until you do. Good Luck!
  10. Coming up on 4 yrs post op and i have learned that carbs are not the devil lol. Over the past 2 years I have slowly re-incorporated them into my diet to the point that i dont even actively avoid them anymore. I eat all kinds of them to the point of “toleration”…which i guess luckily, isnt very much for me. And surprise surprise I am maintaining my weight just fine (with the added bonus of not looking so gaunt in my face…but do look less defined in my bod…but i’ve accepted that…small price to pay to enjoy a maki roll once in a while!)
  11. I tried a series of micro needling on my neck…didnt notice a difference. I next tried botox in that area and there was a subtle improvement. Too subtle for the cost though…not convinced its worth it.
  12. Yep, i was chubby footed as well apparently, lol. I went from a 7.5-8 to a 6. further, i shrunk about 3/4 of an inch in height…guess i had chubby soles too!
  13. 1st meal if the day! 2 soft boiled eggs and 1.5 peices of bacon (would have been 2, but someone pinched a piece from my bowl) 190 calories…ate it all.
  14. Def an NSV. I noticed this too as I lost weight! Looking at old pictures, my trapezoid area shrunk (the part between the side base of your neck and the top of your shoulder). And as it did, a little dip formed there that was a perfect little cubby to hold my purse strap in place! Lol. So yeah, add it to your NSV list, ha! ❤️
  15. And when you are done, you can make a new collage and update it every year, lol Here’s mine. I like to look at it every once in a while (much, much more frequently before though, ha!) Looking at it is like giving myself a pat on the head and saying “yay, me!”
  16. Taking pictures of yourself as u shrink helps! Put your most recent pic beside your oldest one…its hard to argue with photographic evidence. P.S. If you can, wear the same clothes in each pic…but this may get challenging as you get smaller and smaller, lol. If so, try to at least wear the same colours (i wish i did, ha) makes for a lovely collage later.
  17. For me its pork, bread (“soft” fluffy bread in particular) and avocados. Im almost 4 yrs post op.
  18. The Question: “When did you stop buying new clothes?” My Answer: Never! ? With that said though, “New Clothes” purchases started its significant rise around 4 months (when i shrunk out of my horde of “skinny clothes” i kept over the years); peaked at about 1 year (omg i was a shopaholic around that time), and levelled off since then (i’ll be 4 yrs post in October). If resources allow, i say there ain’t nothing wrong at all with getting some cute outfits that fit PROPERLY….looking good generally makes you FEEL good, which does wonders for your confidence, which makes all the difference with dealing with life in general (including weight loss/maintenance!) Good Luck! ❤️
  19. Other than being super tired the first couple weeks, and feeling like i did 100 situps (I didn’t take any pain meds after the first day), my recovery was also uneventful. No nausea, no gas pain, no throwing up. Granted, I barely ate those first couple weeks, but I didn’t really want to anyway (which probably explains why i was so tired). Am pleased with my results P.S. im almost 4 years out now, reached goal at 7 months, and been maintaining below that goal to this day.
  20. Finally went diving!! (First time since surgery!) Pleased to report that: 1) I went down from an XL BCD to an XXS! 2) Went from 18-20 lbs of required weights to 6! (8lbs if i wore a wetsuit) 3) Speaking of wetsuits…i used to wear a Men’s XL, and now a woman’s size 2 (though if they had a size 1, it probably would’ve been better) I was NOT all sweaty and tired lugging all my gear around on land, got in and out of the boat with little to no effort, AND was looked cute in pictures lol. WIN!
  21. Salad! 202 cals for the container. Shared it with The Kid, estimating i ate a little more than half.
  22. *raises hand* My guess its partly related to increased energy and confidence levels. Both of which i have plenty more of since surgery, lol
  23. Taboo schma-boo. Lol. I am pro-botox and fillers (the natural looking kind, not the exaggerated kind!) Makes a world of difference, and if its done right, people will just say you have nice skin, ha! BUT…it does get expensive. It doesn’t last forever so there is regular/ongoing maintenance, and it adds up. I’ve likely spent more at my medi-spa than the cost of a facelift. Sigh.
  24. A: all of the above, ? i’ll also add: chest pressure, lethargy, racing heart, acid indigestion, extreme fullness sensations. for me, different situations and foods cause different symptoms. I’ve long learned which ones cause which. Trial and error will help you learn how to deal with YOUR own intolerances. Pro Tip: introduce new things a little at a time so you can pinpoint what exactly agrees/disagrees with you. Also, if at first you don’t succeed, try again (if u want to, that is): what bothers you today may not bother you tomorrow. Good Luck! ❤️
  25. Had some corn i need to use up, so grilled up a few 1/2 cobs and made a raw corn salsa with other random item in the fridge. Had one of the 1/2 cobs preceded with an espresso martini (not shown). 217 calories for both. Heres a pic of the salsa and ingredient list…I didn’t have any yet…i’ll stick some on a salad later. The yield was about 2.5-3 cups and comes up to 499 cals is someone were to eat the whole bowl.
