  1. Oh gosh I hear you. But unless they have known "fat" you, (& even sometimes then too) it's still going to come across as another skinny person giving them shame. Because my head still hasn't caught up to my size, I'm constantly looking at people trying to assess (privately) "am I bigger than them?" "was I bigger than them before the surgery?" Etc. I was almost always the fattest person in a room and I'm still shocked at not being that way anymore. And I want to go up to them all and tell them there's hope. But I don't of course because that wouldn't help. I'd have HATED someone to do that to me.
  2. 1. personal goal: Imma get to Onderland guddamit; exercise every second day; follow Keto with some IF 2. Surgery: MGB conversion from band, losing (slowly) 3. 91.5 kgs = 201.7 lbs / BMI = 32.8 4. Imma struggle with bad knees so it's gotta be easy 5. Favourite flaw: that I have or that other peeps have? Hehe mine is: I'm naively gullible. I'm like the opposite of Judy Judy - I think everyone tells the truth and is innocent. But I figure that's a kinda nice way to be (except I get terribly shocked when I do find out someone has lied to / manipulated me).
  3. Yep, I’m a band to mini-gastric bypass here. My surgeon did it all in one go but had to leave the pouch bigger than usual because of scarring from the band so probably a good idea to separate the two surgeries out. All my band problems delightfully disappeared with my conversion. No more reflux, sliming, things getting stuck etc. and I never lost much weight with the band but I'm currently ¾ if the way to my goal having lost about 43 kilos (approx. 100 lbs I think). Best decision ever
  4. Ok lads, late posting this and I sucked at the challenge (didn’t quite hit onderland) but I did increase my exercise heaps and joined the gym so I’m well proud of myself for that
  5. You know... I'm about six weeks off my annual checkup so I might make it early with my GP and see if there's something non-bariatric going on. I googled and apparently thyroid issues can cause jittery feelings.
  6. Thx Jazzy, it's just a bit annoying
  7. OK this is a new symptom that has started over the last couple of weeks. For those that have had reactive hypoglycaemia you know that slightly jittery feeling you start to get that tells you it's on its way? Well I've been getting that on and off lately but it doesn't become hypoglycaemia and my blood glucose levels are fine (eg. 4.8 mmol / 86.4 mg). It's not affecting me dramatically, it's just more annoying than anything. I haven't changed what I eat. I am exercising more but it doesn't seem linked to exercise that I do. Like, I could wake up feeling this way. I'm not drinking lots of caffeine. So what gives? Anyone else have this happen?

I'm a whisker off hitting the magical onderland. Felt rather skinny (for me) in UK size 16
  9. Oh well done!! The difference is amazing!! You should be thrilled!
  10. Errrr no?? Should I be?? (Wondering what's going on with others' public loo experiences)
  11. BAKE COOKIES?? This is a challenge I definitely can't do waaaaaaa (I know I know but even keto cookies would make my calorie load fail under pressure)
  12. Oooh woops I'm not a sleeve, I'm a mini- gastric bypass, my bad.
  13. Definitely regular icecream and not much of it on an empty stomach. I stole about 3 or 4 spoons of my hubby's Ben & Jerry's at the movies once and about 20 mains later I got the shakes, feeling faint, nauseous etc. Haven't tried more than one teeny spoon of ice cream since. I once had a petrol station machine mocha and a small can of Pringles and oh my that made me dump AND throw up with 20 or 30 mins. That was about 4 mths after surgery, haven't done that again. Those experiences were enough to make me very cautious about sugar. Nowadays 10 mths out from surgery I have had a few reactive hypoglycaemia attacks when I ate stuff I shouldn't have. A scone with a teeny bit of jam and some nice cream gave me a hypo two hours later. As did a whole packet of cheezles I stupidly ate in one sitting. Also if I eat sweet (white or milk) chocolate I have to be very careful or I'm hypoing two hours later. Basically if I break the rules, I suffer, which is what I (well, technically the Health Service) paid €7450 for!
  14. @Sheribear68 many congrats both for your daughter's amazing achievement and also coz you both look adorbs!
  15. Happy to say, I spent the whole day in the skirt and not a problem. It felt so airy not having bike shorts on #freedom
  16. Yayyyy well done!!!
  17. Woah! That is a seriously good looking bike. Enjoy!! #placesyoullgo
  18. Ladeez, I’m going out sans thigh-rub protecting bike shorts under my skirt. First time in forever. I shall report back!
  19. @Cheeseburgh a bike?? Like a proper one that goes from A to B or a stationary one like wot you can do in front of the telly??
  20. Ha! My surgeon gave me a mini-gastric bypass and told me I have to take omeprazole for life just to make sure I don’t get ulcers (more of a risk with the MGB??) so I wouldn’t necc. make the decision on whether you need to take PPIs for life, only. You might end up needing to take them anyway.
  21. I’m a band to mini-gastric bypass and it was the BEST decision I ever made. I had trouble with my band from the get-go. It sprung a leak early on so I never got restriction and spent the first nine months of my honeymoon wondering why I could still eat a full steak and everyone else was complaining about being full after a teaspoon of tuna. Had it fixed but it never really worked. Either too tight or too loose and when I moved O/Ṣ I just gave up and ate around it. I used to feel embarrassed to tell people I’d had a Lapband years ago and yet here I was north of 140 kilos. I’m about ten months out from my revision, surgery went brilliantly. My surgeon did a single operation to remove the band and give me my bypass but he had to make my stomach pouch larger b/c of Lapband scarring. I don’t mind b/c I’ve slowly lost 2/3rds of my excess weight, am just about to hit Onderland and I feel bloomin’ brilliant. Even if I never lost another kilo I love my life so much more now.

I’m so inspired by everyone’s pix. I’ve lost about 2/3rds of my excess weight but I still have a ways to go but you guys make me believe I can do it!!!
