After you loose a considerable amount of weight you really should have another sleep study. I lost 70 lbs & still have to use one! I’ve been using one for 18 years 🤦‍♀️

Wow! That seems like a lot of calories so soon. I think I didn’t have more than 800 for the 1st 6 months. I was told to concentrate more on Protein. To have 60-90 grams a day.
    Good luck to you.

Not being able to feel restriction is usually pretty common till you get past the soft food stage. I remember thinking the surgery didn't work for me either, till I started eating regular food at 5 weeks. It was then I really felt the I'm full pain. I have since learned when to stop before it gets to that point. liquids and soft phase were pretty easy for me. I still go back to it sometimes when my tummy is not feeling so good.
Just be careful that you don't eat more than you should. Especially this early out. You don't want to pop a staple or blow out your stomach. Extremely dangerous. Nerves have been cut too during your WLS and can contribute to why you aren't feeling that restriction. Give them time to heal.
At this point you want to go by how much your Dr recommends eating because you can't trust that not feeling restriction phase. I could always eat more than 2 TB of food but never allowed myself over 1/2 C early on. Also wait 30 minutes to an hour after eating to drink. If I don't, liquids won't stay down. I would concentrate right now more so on getting all your liquids in. Good luck!!
    Here's what my nutritionist recommends:
5 weeks to 6 months: 600-800 calories, 65-100 g Protein, less than 45 g carbs, less than 30 grams fat.
6 months to 12 months: 800-1000 calories, 65-100 g protein, less than 60 g carbs, less than 35 grams fat.
Over 12 months: 1000-1500 calories, 65-100 g protein, less than 75 g carbs, less than 30-60 grams fat.

The only pain I had (and it’s always really bad for me) is the pain in the left shoulder from the gas used to inflate the abdomen. Nothing helps that pain as mine always lasts about 3 weeks! I do see a pain specialist so I can’t remember if my surgeon gave me pain meds or not.

If something just doesn’t seem right, call your surgeon’s office, they are the experts, not us!
Check with your insurance about a nutritionist & therapist.

You can wear the same clothes home that you wore to the hospital. You won’t be in them for long.

toodlerue got a reaction from GreenTealael in Exercise Before Surgery
Starting to exercise 3 weeks before surgery isn’t gonna change much of anything. Besides you can’t exercise for 6 weeks after.
When your six weeks are up ease into something slowly. Hopefully loosing weight will make it easier on your body to move more without being in pain.
Best of luck on your surgery & weight loss!

I haven’t had any regrets. 5-7 days after surgery is when you think “what the hell did I just do?” But then you are able to drink a little more Protein each day & then you progress though all the food stages & you slowly start to feel better as the weight starts falling off. Then you feel amazing & wonder why you didn’t do it sooner!

I think most of us were scared before surgery. It’s a natural response.

Try using an electrolyte drink like Drip Drops or Liquid IV. I was feeling this way & a naturopath suggested that for me. She said I looked & felt “punnie” (sorry don’t know how to spell that). Using one stick of Drip Drops a day has made such a difference for me!

toodlerue got a reaction from Tomo in Nausea after eating- 3 weeks out
Babyspoons said everything I would say. Keep eating the soft foods for another week & then try moving on. My daughter couldn’t eat chicken for the longest time after her RNY. I didn’t have any trouble unless I ate more then 3oz. Make sure you’re not eating too much. That can make you nauseous!
I use the alarm on the Baritastic app to remind me to drink Water every 15 min (accept when I’m eating of course). I’m over 5 years out & I still need to be reminded sometimes. I never leave the house without a bottle of water & I always have it right next to me. I use 1/2 a stack of Drip Drops in 23oz. Gives it a little flavor. I aim for 3 bottles a day.
Good luck! You can do it.

Maybe you used too much liquid in your salmon. I puréed beef with a baby carrot from the roast I made the family & it was surprisingly good.
Make sure you put your fork down between bites. This will help you to eat slower.
    Don’t forget about cottage cheese.

toodlerue got a reaction from learn2cook in How Can I Drink More Water??
I have a timer from Bartastics sent for ever 15 minutes reminding me to drink. I have silly sayings like “Must drink coffee”, “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere “ , “It’s wine o’clock “, “Tequila because Water is boring “, & “Must go pee” as reminders.
