  1. I'm sorry you're dehydrated. But regular popsicles and jello, lemonade have a lot of sugar. That is universally highly discouraged, if not out right banned post WLS. I'd really encourage you to find another way to get hydration. You don't want to work against this amazing tool you now have.
  2. For me, it totally does. So much so I'll even eat legumes on a date, lol! The key is, you can't just take one. I think that is what a lot of people do when they say it doesn't work. I'll take 3-5 right before my first bite. Also the Walmart generic version does not work at all.
  3. Beano ... you can eat legumes without the consequences!
  4. I like some of the protein soups they sell here on this site.
  5. I would not risk it, and have it resubmitted. I'd want to make sure I am approved for the surgery I am receiving.
  6. That article is terrifying!
  7. I agree with drinking water keeps your hands and mouth occupied. I'm frequently in situations like this, candy spread out on a conference table for a day long meeting, or cookies brought in to a meeting after lunch. Going to a bar after dinner and bar snack, or someone orders nachos. I just drink water, and keep drinking. I also focus on the fact I'm not actually hungry, and what my goals are.
  8. I was reading the posts in my email thinking .... who's this GreenTealael person, and why did they take Tealael's user name!?!
  9. Are you still a long way out from pills? I was ok, at about 2 weeks where you are at now.
  10. Liquid Tylenol with Codeine
  11. Yeah, the capacity is a huge downside. For just 1 it's fine, for two, it can be a challenge sometimes, for more than 2 it doesn't work at all. My mom and neighbor have two each, lol, my neighbor talks of getting a third one. I saw an infomercial for this one while I was in a waiting room. I have to admit I was sucked in and totally want it. Which is ridiculous considering I'm single, no kids and have a 2 oz stomach capacity http://www.powerairfryer.com/
  12. I actually have made falafel in the airfryer. As long as it will hold together somewhat it should be ok. Although I do appreciate the fat free aspect of the airfryer, I also appreciate to no mess aspect vs. frying and the "set it and forget it" aspect. My mom and my neighbor do a lot of wings in their airfryer, they both claim (and I agree) they are superior to pan fried. In fact my neighbor whom used to fry a majority of his meals (chicken, pork chops, etc) told me he has barely turned his stove on in months, and his last gas bill was $8. He is definitely not motivated by the health benefits either.
  13. Have you ever tried an airfryer? I was surprised how much I like and use it, It's super versatile and easy clean up. IMO, the results are even better than frying. I turned my mom and neighbor on to them, and they love it as well. I sound like an infomercial, lol!
  14. Not while you're married, it's not fair to any women you may meet.
  15. I think you're overthinking it. Staying in the room while everyone else goes out to eat sounds depressing. Enjoy your vacation, go out to dinner. There is always soup on the menu, and most likely other things as well. Pack a stash of food that you can eat if you get hungry. Shelf stable hummus, unsweetened apple sauce cups, bring some protein powder and a shaker bottle.
  16. They need to know you are taking medical leave, but they certainly don't need to know why
  17. Thanks Ash .... you're right on every point. What I tell myself is he had the absolute best of me for 7 years. And his embarrassment over my appearance mattered more to him than anything else. I can change my weight (and I am!), but he can't change his shallowness
  18. Thanks @Chrisb428 ... I have to tell you I do have a fantasy of running into him in public, especially after I get my plastics, lol! Even better if I have a hot bf with me!
  19. BIG CONFESSION TIME I had a boyfriend of 7 years, who left me over my weight. When we got together I was probably around 170-180. When he left me I was about 230. We had no other major issues. We got along extremely well. We had only a few fights during our entire relationship. Despite my weight I was more physical active, and active in general (more social, traveled frequently), and also took a lot of pride in my appearance. He was slightly overweight when we met, gained some weight, and then lost weight to end up just very slightly overweight. I noticed he started to not invite me to things with his family or friends. I didn't think too much about it. Holidays were off the table with him having 2 sets of kids, and me with my family, so we never did those together. Otherwise he was pretty much a homebody, so other social events for him were few and far between, made it easy to ignore. We both had demanding and social jobs, so staying in and me cooking was the norm. I barely noticed the decline in going out. I knew from the beginning I wasn't his physical type. But I figured it wasn't a big deal, because we had a great sex life. There were things about him that weren't ideal, but all the good stuff made up for, I thought it was the same for him. He began to get more distant. So we finally sat down and talked and he said he wanted to break up. He wouldn't give me an answer why really. I finally asked him if it was my weight. He was surprised I knew it was an issue for him. He told he was embarrassed to bring me around his family and friends or to be seen in public with me. He was still sexually attracted to me, but too embarrassed to be seen with me. That was four years ago. I only told one person the real reason we broke up, and I did it when I was drunk, lol.
  20. Another angle, plenty of curves left
  21. I had a long conversation with my Dr. ex about this. He explained that transdermal medications take a lot of research and manipulation to allow the medication to pass through the skin's barriers. Prescription drug companies must invest in this because they are regulated by the FDA, but supplements and these patches are not. So it is safe to assume that Patch MD has probably not put the investment into research and molecular manipulation to sell patches at less than $1 each. Also we spoke about how one of the main functions of the skin is to keep just about everything out. If it didn't, we could never go into the ocean, or else we would die of a sodium overdose, we couldn't use lotion, not to mention bug repellents like deet.
  22. I dated a physician for quite a long time. One thing I learned is they are not all knowing, ESPECIALLY outside of their specialty. They will disagree vehemently within their own department. One thing he told me is to trust my own intelligence, knowledge, education and experience. If something doesn't make sense to me, then don't hesitate to question, respectfully of course. If a physician doesn't react well then find another because a good physician would welcome the learning experience and be grateful their patient is empowered about their own health.
  23. I think I am the can of worms I posted this a couple of weeks ago on the topic of vitamin patches: I looked into the patches and was seriously considering using them, because most supplements cause me nausea. I spoke in depth to my surgeon's PA (she has a much better bedside manner!) about them. She has the same issue w nausea, and had looked into them herself. She was skeptical and ultimately decided against them. She told me I should use the patches only as a last resort, as they might be better than nothing. Thankfully she suggested the multivitamin she takes, and it's easy on my stomach, so that problem solved. When I was considering the patches I also talked to a good friend of mine who's a GI. He very much doubted that most Vitamins and minerals could be absorbed transdermally. I asked him about labs tests to verify, and he said that labs can be very misleading and it can take many months, years, or even decades for deficiencies to show up. He said for instance Calcium will almost never show deficient, our bodies will just take from our bones. And that labs don't even test for all the vitamins and minerals we need. So taking those two opinions, plus my own doubts from this article, stating that the weight of the patch was significantly less than the combined weight of the claimed vitamins and minerals on the patch. https://www.unjury.com/blog/important-information-if-you-are-recommending-a-patch-vitamin/ . It just puts patches into the too good to be true category, and I'm staying away. And then there was this thread very recently. I'm linking from @Matt Z post, and then read down for my and @KimTriesRNY responses
  24. That is super interesting. I'm pretty good at estimating what I will be able to eat. I have nothing to contribute to this thread because my after is nearly always an empty plate.
