  1. Earl Grey, English Breakfast Tea, Turmeric Tea, herb teas (all decaff) are great and so soothing!
  2. Also, just FYI, the gastritis is a very very common finding in EGDs on bariatric pre-op patients. I'd maybe put that at around 80% or so? Maybe higher...but it's scary to read it. Right?
  3. WTG! Sounds like a great plan! Be sure to contact them if your symptoms get worse!!! Make em document EVERY little thing. I've never ever ever heard of anyone being made to wait 6 months for a medically necessary revision. Especially one involving active GERD that could cause Barrett's or erosion or ulceration, etc...at any time. I'd be that darn squeaky wheel they want to move along in the process!!!! ((hugs))
  4. Mine would have been licked clean of every speck. @GreenTealael Did you have any nausea after eating the fish filet? I struggle so with high fat meals, and I'm so chicken to try to eat a piece of fried fish. I can do oven-fried or air fried...but that looks delish! What was your experience mam?
  5. Lucyyyyyy! You got some 'splainin' to do! Sorry things are not going "right"? Whaaaaaaassssssuuuuuuppppp?
  6. Yes. You might be having GERD. But it may also be "normal" for you for this stage. You've just had surgery. And your tum is very sensitive. Sometimes at night our tummies get clocked (gooped) up with mucus from drainage during the night. And it get's "stuck". Many have food aversion or foamies till that mucus clears. My RD told me if that happens to drink cups of warm fluid until it clears out. Try some decaf herbal tea or even just warm water since coffee is still too acidic for you. And see if that helps. If it doesn't, then that's a surgeon's phone call. Many to this day only drink coffee with a protein shake in the mornings.
  7. Wooohoooooo!!!!!! Congrats girlie!!!! You're covered by our prayers (and those of Ricky Bobby). Don't be askeered. Be excited! ((hugs))
  8. A cheesy SIDEBOOB taco! Bahahahahaahaha!!! I'm so proud of you! What a trouper! You're a super trouper!!!! (I'm not worthy...I'd be milkin' the system...uhn uhn, I need, I need. I want. I want...Can you peel me a grape please???? )
  9. Only my opinion, cuz they may work for some. But I call those candy. And during my WLM, I didn't indulge in stuff like that cuz I wanted to be sure that I would get to goal or as humanly close as I could. Those are dangerous delivery systems for sugar (honey) and grains (oats) and nutbutter (which I didn't eat a whole lot of cuz I wanted to keep calories low). My view was that I had all the scooby snacks I need strapped and trapped on my ass--I had no business eating more that would have to be burned for energy before my body would tap into its own "scooby snack" on my booty. The reason I have a problem with them beyond being potential triggers for some is that our goal (especially early out) when our restriction is maximum, is to eat calorically LITE while eating nutritionally dense. So if I'm gonna spend 70 of my calorie budget on something--I'd rather it be a hard boiled egg, or a turkey rollup, or a string cheese. Cuz it's a better bang for my protein and calorie buck. And with the candy, the calories will add up VERY VERY quickly for very little protein. Especially since they are so small! It worked to my advantage within 9 months. If I were at goal? And it wasn't a trigger for me, and helped me maintain, then I would go for it for sure! There "may" be a different set of realities in maintenance from losing phase.
  10. I talked to my nutritionist. She has no problems with me fluctuating my protein up and down. She just doesn't want me to suppress it every day. I only need about 45-53g of protein per day to sustain my body at my new weight. So to eat 50-55g or protein one day and raise on other days is perfectly fine. The protein can come from "all sources"--meaning even protein in veggies count! She wants me to focus on getting protein from many sources. Yes, complete proteins are important, but that can come from milk, yogurt, eggs as well as things like quinao/beans/lentils/soy beans (which I got the go ahead to have a serving a day from whole sources (no isolates)) or things like hemp and chia seeds and I'm now allowed a bit of flax seed too. I had a pre-albumin test recently and my pre-albumin was 24. Think 20 is low. But the doc was fine with it being at 24. Some days I get 90g of protein (feast days), but other days I'm more like 50-ish. I usually on days where I do a 20/4 or a 22/2, will do 1 shake (25-30g protein) + 1 meal with 4-5oz of cooked protein (meat/fish/seafood--something very dense protein per ounce--trying for 7g protein/ounce of source (weight). So if I can get 24-30g of protein in a meal + the shake, I'm gold! And right before eating closes for the night, I might still be able to get in 4oz of kefir + 2-3oz protein drink (love strawberries and cream flavor or peaches and cream flavor mixed with low fat kefir). TRE=Time Restricted Eating Ok, maybe @Healthy_life2 will step in and help you with this. She runs marathons! And has a huge routine down that is very specific for her work out schedule. She's awesome sauce!!! Congrats on the triathlon next month!!! Wooooot!!!! I hear ya on the urgency stuff when you cut down via TRE (time restricted eating)--especially during a race! Wow! That would be unpleasant!!
  11. Ugh! Ok my secret is to get the unflavored generic then squeeze in some water drops to each serving. My faves are sf tang and sf Hawaiian Punch.
  12. Yay for pushing through and enjoying end of summer and on getting this super serious condition taken care of. So glad you don't have webbing!!!! Wooot!!! Heal quickly! ((hugs))
  13. Wooohooo! Congrats! That was quick!
  14. Yes. I lost 30 lbs with a combination of IF TREs and minimal EFs. I did a lot of ADF with 500 cal restriction as well. IF got me to goal. But I should say, that my TREs are not free for all eating in that eating window. I still only look at getting my protein and deeply nutritious veg in and a tiny bit of healthy fats... I also have treat days every week.
  15. Gosh I LOVE it!! Great report! And I love that he can do it all at the same time! Why not go for a brachioplasty at the same time since it's less money? Then you can get the arms you want at the same time? (Psssst, is it Dr. Now? )
  16. Don't forget the coleslaw and the bottom right sauce. bahahahahaha!!!!
  17. Ok, so reality check time. You are 143lbs and 5'3". You could be built like a brick sh*thouse. And you still are NOT in danger of being dangerously underweight. You are at the VERY high end of normal. So take a deep breath. And don't stress. Here's the standard chart. But you may not be built standard. Now that we're all breathing and know there isn't any reason for anxiety...congrats! That was a very FAST trip. Your PCP is an alarmist--so is your surgeon. Average weight loss per week is 2-4lbs. Yes, it does usually slow down. But you are building muscle and tearing it down at a very fast pace. Your strength training builds muscle and your biking tears it off of you. Now...more reality...with the amount of exercise you do, I've no idea how you live on only 700cals/day. I don't care if that's weight loss or some kind of monkey butt magical maintenance. You need more calories. You have 3 macros and only 3 macros to choose from: Protein - no one needs (or few need) 120+ grams of protein per day unless you are in that 1% of 1% elite athlete zone. Carbs - you probably are metabolically flexible at this point, and could handle 50-100g per day. But I understand fearing the carb monster. It is real! And carbs (non-veggie sources) are a slippery slope trigger for many. Fats - here is where a major source of calories reside. Some of us can't do super high fat meals. We get nauseated. But when you suppress your carbs, the % of fat naturally goes up relative to everything else. It doesn't mean you're eating gobs of fat. You could probably easily up your fats to become 65-75% of your diet. (AKA keto). Healthy fats and easy sources for fat: avocado olives nuts nut butters olive oil butter coconut oil palm kernel oil lard, tallow omega 3 oils These foods have the smallest volume footprint but pack in the calories and are nutritionally dense. I would personally start by upping your calorie load by 200 cals per day. You can pretty quickly get up to 1400-1600 cals and then stop and see where you are. You may continue to lose quickly. Your metabolism is amped up. But for most of us, we start slowing down in the last 20 lbs. And at 5'3" and 120lbs, you would STILL only be smack in the middle of normal and healthy. So technically you "aren't on your last 20lbs". Congrats. You are a beast!
  18. I don't really know. I thought it could happen to either surgery cuz of having the stuff done laparascopically? Cuz I do know the remnant stomach can twist in VSG? I know it happens more now than when it used to be done in open surgeries? But other risks are lower. With your's being on the right side, that sounds more like gallbladder or ulcer ish?
  19. Adiposity Set-Point - Putting this here so I can come watch it tomorrow! Ok, I took the time to watch this. And I thought I knew a lot already about nutrition, our fat brains, and neurosciency nutrition. But my mind is officially blown. This explains so so much! I'm running to buy this book she speaks about. It's ALL about what I've been saying...that we MUST down regulate our hedonic pleasure response to food in order to have a normal relationship with food. As MO or formerly MO people our response and neural wiring is DIFFERENT do you hear that? From naturally thin people. Turns out...our BRAINS (hypothalmus = aka lizard brain = hedonic pleasure center) will increase our neurochemical adiposiity (fat) set point to defend a higher weight (resist losing weight) based on how tasty your food is! So the tastier, the harder it is to combat and control hunger. It's why substitutions still light up our brains like crack! So sugar free anything still causes our pleasure center to be stimulated and we get a cephalic insulin response. But even salting steamed green beans will make things more pleasurable. Even roasting green beans rather than steaming them, raises our cephalic response and cause the brain to NOT want to lose any weight. Gah! Brain! Ef you!!!!!
  20. My pain was mostly upper left side. But it also hurt below my liver on my right side. It was ACUTE! It was break out in a sweat and know intuitively that you're dying. It's the WORST pain you can even imagine. Mine was an internal hernia and volvulus and all my bowels were outside the sack and were twisted. IT felt just like that.
  21. That depends. You don't drive yourself as cray, BUT the other way gives you more time to really deep dive and do the head work. Any prep work you do up front is time very well spent in my opinion. In the 6-9 month lead-in for me, I broke up with high glycemic carbs, most processed foods, caffeine in any form, all white stuff--especially sugar and white breads, pasta, potatoes and rice. And I was also keto adapted. That made the 2 week liquid diet and post op diet infinitately easier!!! I would have hated to go through all of those things PLUS recover from a major surgery.
