Struggle
I refused to watch commercials after surgery. They were almost all about food (or life insurance). If you can stream programs or TiVo past commercials (is that even still a thing?) that trigger can be eliminated. The other triggers you will have to work on (maybe even with professional help) but it gets better with time. You may have to bring your own food along to events disguised as a potluck contribution, eat before you to events and even eat at a separate meal time. Good luck and congratulations on your surgery ❤️

Post op diet
A lot of people that convert from VSG to RNY are not aware that the extreme fullness sensation *may* disappear because the pyloric sphincter is no longer the portal used by food to enter the intestines. After RNY foods and liquids travel into the intestines quicker than with VSG.

Stricture (anastomotic stenosis) topic
No I personally wouldn’t risk it (I also had a stricture) Perhaps tell your surgeon when you start to feel more confident in your recovery and ask if you can advance back to soft foods earlier.

Nutritionist was NO help at all
Can you switch nutritionist? Find a new one? If not can you email your nutritionist so she has to see the questions (clearly written) and respond appropriately? This is helpful if someone speaks too fast, speaks too soft, overtalks others, speaks with an accent, tends to speak in “stream of consciousness style”, etc. Good Luck ❤️

Vacation 3 months after surgery?
I went on a long vacation around 4 months post op. It wasn’t too early (for me). I had absolutely no problem finding food and drinks at local markets. There were plenty of protein options, but I wasn’t in Japan. I would expect most of the protein from eggs, fish and tofu. By that time I had a lot of extra energy I was walking for exercise, the burden of excess weight was being removed and I looked better than ever. All of those things increased my excitement towards the trip. However, if you experience any major complications after surgery (not that you will, most people don’t) then reschedule when you feel better.

Food Before and After Photos
How does it taste with apples? I stopped adding bananas to my smoothies when I noticed it tripled the calories, then I basically stopped drinking smoothies altogether because I liked them better with bananas ? I still make green juice but only with spinach, a *little* pineapple, lemon crystals or drink mix and water

Ok it has been a while since I made this: zero carb bread French toast. Everyone loves when I make it. This is the first Aldi zero carb loaf I’ve bought in 3 months ? This was for someone else, but I ate half this amount so around 96 cals

Post Op Phase 3 BBQ ?
I highly recommend ground or minced meat shaped around skewers and grilled. They are traditionally called Adana kebab or koftas. These are usually super soft protein options and BBQ friendly since they are normally grilled anyway. Have fun with your family and congratulations in advance. A couple of recipes in the links below; https://www.thespruceeats.com/adana-kebab-4164647 https://www.thespruceeats.com/moroccan-beef-koftas-recipe-333841

So this was originally a one piece suit that I altered into a bikini? tankini? I like it better this way (Also I had to hike to this spot -I don’t normally hike- so that’s me on a big rock in the rainforest being bitten by every bug just to get a photo ?)

Anybody not working out??
I think it’s hard to want to do more when you’re not struggling to lose weight. It’s also liberating to not worry so much. I completely understand because my motivation to exercise (anything more than basic stuff) plummeted because I was already happy with the results. Exercise is not necessarily most important factor to lose weight after WLS but it *may* make a difference in where you lose or maintain muscle tone.
