Psych Eval Today
If I remember correctly (it was 2017) the clinician told me immediately he would approve me and the official results were in my file within a week (this was before the hospital system I used implemented MyChart)

VSG to RNY - will I be just trading one set of problems for another?
I initially had VSG in 2017 and was revised to RNY in 2019. I have no horror stories. Some mild but utterly manageable complications early on but nothing that has made me regret life post RNY compared to VSG. Honestly to me it feels exactly the same and I have lived with the change long enough to make the comparison. In the early stages post revision, I needed to relearn and change some things but after that it’s been smooth. I deal with dumping syndrome (but I did with VSG also) so I know what to stay away from and it has eliminated 95% of the possibility of it happening. As always, your experience may differ in any number of ways but IMHO the people who struggle the most with revisions are the ones who either have very serious physical complications or those who didn’t want to be revised at all (this is more mental than physical). I hope you choose the best path forward that you are comfortable with. Keep us updated ❤️

Raspberry Chia oatmeal- (not my portion but it was pretty). I eat oatmeal maybe once a year. Also Steak fries w/ketchup and bbq sauce. I eat potatoes at least once a month. Anyone else still eating these carbs regularly?

Food Before and After Photos
Pizza ish. I used a mini naan bread and spoon full of tomato basil soup that was already cooking. The real star is the turkey pepperoni, which next time I’ll just eat alone.

Help me weigh pros and cons?
If I were in your position and unsure I would: Find a GREAT team (that accepts your insurance) and go to a few information sessions. Ask a ton of questions. Consult the surgeon and ask a ton of questions. Join the support group and listen to the candid conversations of the members. See the nutritionist/dietician and follow the plan they give to you. Start implementing the post WLS lifestyle now. Try a few protein supplements. Start monitoring your progress during these changes. If you are still unsure about any of it, ask more questions, take your time and go to more support meetings, talk more with your family about their concerns, tell them yours. Honestly you don’t have to rush into anything, take your time (unless there’s a reason you need to). For me WLS was absolutely worth the risks and I would do it again. Good Luck!

Am I crazy for wanting to cancel my surgery next week and just try Wegovy?
Personally I would NOT cancel surgery unless I had a 6 month supply already on hand and even then I would still go through with WLS because I strongly believe it is currently still superior to the GLP-1 meds for a few reasons (nothing to do with efficacy) Please try to be patient and let the surgery schedule work itself out, one way or another. And please note that Wegovy has and will continue to experienced supply interruption issues: https://www.novonordisk-us.com/supply-update.html

No judgement here! I realized that sometimes if I have to cook I’d rather not eat ? Also I’ll take your side on Asteroid City (having never seen it ?) I hate all Wes Anderson films, except The Squid and The Whale.

Food Before and After Photos
Ok so I lied. I did make the breakfast sandwich again (this time with egg instead of cheese). It was either this or eat a block of goat cheese with pretzels or 8 mini snickers. I’m avoiding grocery shopping. Anyone else eating really random stuff out of laziness?

Croissant w/ turkey bacon and cheese I’m always surprised (and annoyed) at how many calories are in the foods I make at home. I won’t be repeating this meal for a while. ? ?
