  1. Thank youuuuuu. These are the compliments I live for and is especially appreciated since my boyfriend just said that I’m “either dressed to the nines or look like a hobo. There’s no in between.” He’s not wrong ?
  2. 7 years out this November (I can’t believe it’s been that long!) 1. The surgery did all of the work. I didn’t wake up hungry, I didn’t feel like I could eat more than recommended. I didn’t have any (initial) complications that slowed the weight loss process. 2. I was really strict and followed every rule pre and post op. I was super serious because I absolutely needed this to work. My motivation remains for medical reasons first and aesthetics second. 3. I limited calories from liquids. 4. I am finally ready to admit that I have a narrow palate. I don’t like most food and definitely not most fast food but in a pinch I will eat it *some* things. I cook the vast majority of my meals and most are very boring by foodie standards. 5. I was converted from VSG to RNY at my goal weight (GERD etc) and I’m sure the durability of RNY has made a difference in maintaining. 6. I was given a higher BMI range by my surgeon and thank goodness because getting any lower would have been a real struggle without added benefits. 7. I invested in plastics. I shouldn’t make sense or a difference but I didn’t want to mess up the work I had done plus removed skin and fat cells are gone forever. 8. I address the smallest regains IMMEDIATELY adjusting behavior and intake. I’m not ashamed of it or ignore it, I weigh often to stay accountable to myself. 9. I found what works for me and focused on that, adjusting as needed. I try very, very hard not to compare myself with anyone else. I never attached self worth or morality to weight (gained or lost). I think it helped immensely that no one ever bothered me about weight. I realize it maybe a different story if this wasn’t the case. 10. I check in yearly with my bariatric team.
  3. This is my nightmare fuel every time my clumsy kid asks to help me prepare a meal. “Cut the cucumber… over t h e r e “ ?
  4. Some food from my road trip: Classic (tourist trap ?) burger and fries in Arizona. This became my only meal split throughout the day. I loved it. Flan and butter bundt cake with local tea selections (?) in New Mexico. I barely ate any because it was a super sweet dumpling risk but I really like flan.
  5. You may be right. It takes time for insurance approval, scheduling then the preop diet. But if offered Dec 30th, take it ?
  6. Tough one. On one hand your body your choice, on the other hand no man is an island. If surgery goes well without complications, timing is a mild inconvenience. If complications happen you’ll want their support (physical and emotional) for the long haul and they’ll need time to prepare for major life changes. Also how does insurance factor into this? And what is your timeline? Are we talking surgery on Dec 1st or 20th?
  7. I’ve never cut myself with a knife but this felt like the time it would happen!
  8. Ok! It’s great. Sat butter and maple syrup ❤️
  9. Now I want to know what you’ll do about Halloween first! But at every food based event, I try to hydrate as much as possible then focus in only the foods I really want (even if it is dessert). In the early days I would bring protein shakes along because there’s almost no protein in pies. ?

It looked fake in person. My eyes couldn’t reconcile the depth of field or scale. I’m passing the curse forward ?
  11. Well then crunch the numbers with your surgeon (costs, outcomes, risks, etc) and choose the best. After all you want the best option for your money (present and future)
  12. Ok, I thought so. TBH the only time I have seen re-sleeves posts, people are usually self paying. I don’t think insurance will even cover them. Do you know if insurance will cover SADI?
  13. Get well soon and try to update when you can ❤️
  14. This definitely feels oven worthy!
  15. Want to know a secret: I don’t love food. IDK if I ever did as I look through some of these post and think, “Does everyone eat this many different foods?!? Or when my kids joke about me eating tea again for dinner (I do love drinking ?) But also please don’t torture yourself by looking if you are struggling ❤️ Check out the research on hedonic hunger: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hedonic_hunger https://www.webmd.com/diet/story/hedonic-hunger-and-why-we-cant-stop-eating https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6009994/#:~:text=The term 'hedonic hunger' refers,of this construct in 2009.
  16. Cooking: Covered then uncovered?
  17. Did your surgeon explain why he thought a re sleeve would be appropriate/help? Was there any mention of RNY bypass? Are you self paying or going through insurance? Let us know how it goes!

I thought I uploaded this pic but I didn’t. Grand Canyon (southern rim)
  19. I was inspired by this post to buy one!!! I still haven’t cooked it. What’s your favorite method?
  20. Now is the time to raise these concerns and questions with your surgeon and come up with a plan moving forward. Ask for average loss expectancy in their practice, if you’re on target and what is their plan for patients with below average loss. Don’t let them tell you to just wait and see how it turns out. Ask for a plan with amendments such as medications. Good luck
  21. Tastes like every other chocolate with fruit ? I suspect i am just not a fan of prickly pear
