  1. I find the underpinnings of sexual attraction interesting from an evolutionary/biological perspective. Did you know that there is an ideal hip to waist ratio that indicates sexual attractiveness and can also predict health outcomes? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waist–hip_ratio There are so many studies of these types biological reasons of attraction, I just don’t take it personally anymore. In fact I say thank you, but keep going about my business. A few rabbits holes: https://psychcentral.com/blog/do-looks-matter-in-a-relationship#do-looks-matter: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0191886920303603 https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1090513806000614 I’ll never forget being propositioned in Vegas 2 years ago and saying that I'm partnered and unavailable. The guy said so what. I stopped him and flat out asked if he would not want the same response and courtesy if I were his partner? He said “yes you’re right, I forgot”. He forgot. And I believed him. He clearly was on the hunt. And I can’t pretend that the same sex isn’t just as bold. I’ve been approached by a ton of women sometimes 20 yrs my junior when I wear what my boyfriend calls my hippie witch clothes (basically a bustier/corset and long flowy skirt) I met my current partner after WLS so no issues there for me. But every year at least one old flame resurfaces to try their luck with me.
  2. Today is my 7 year surgiversary ? I can’t believe it’s been that long but my lifestyle does have a lived in feel to it. My weight is stable-ish with a current BMI of ~25. I have no problem finding safe things to eat while out but this year I cooked the major of my meals. That means I accidentally began meal prepping because of cooking foods only I seem to want to eat twice in a row. I’m ok with this as I actually like eating the same things, ad nauseum ?. I drink hot tea every morning and most nights. I have fully returned to carbonated water, kombucha and pre/probiotic drinks. Some highlights of this year includes sending my last child off to college, my first colonoscopy, started reading spicy books (thanks ACOTAR) and a few bucket list trips (The Space Coast to visit Kennedy Space center, Grand Canyon and the New Mexico hot air balloon festival). I’m still very satisfied with the outcome of WLS and all of the new advancements in obesity medicine.
  3. It’s possible whoever told you this meant short term as in the immediate preop and early post op period. Or meant you can supplement/augment protein needs with shakes in addition to food but your bariatric team will move you through food stages and require you eat actual foods.
  4. Apparently I was also defiant. My Mum loves to remind me I refused to “eat those little trees” aka broccoli at 3 years old. I don’t remember this but I do remember having an irrational fear of eating baby corn at that age. ?
  5. No and no doctor would support this without extenuating medical circumstances. Even then it would be a nutritional/total meal replacement drink. On this site we don’t support dangerous behaviors.
  6. The version I grew up with has a smoother silky texture, not really like grits.
  7. I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes the tiny onion ring!
  8. I did not. However my boyfriend did and it has been the biggest struggle to convince him that he is free to stop when he wants. At one point he, early on, he tried to control my intake, I had to set a hard boundary. He even apologizes if he can't finish something. I honestly wish parents didn't do this to children because it's feels impossible to reverse. Sending virtual hugs to you and strength for the battle.
  9. Food. A lot of listeria contamination warnings lately but maybe it has always been this way and I’m just noticing.
  10. Anyone else noticing the uptick in product recalls?
  11. That’s an amazing difference already!
  12. Medical tourism. Think Miami, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Turkiye. I went with Miami but would have been comfortable with Colombia (Medellin specifically). These are cash markets but some places in the States accept care credit and other medical financing (personally I would not use these services). Join Facebook and Instagram groups to start your research. Good luck ❤️
  13. No keto ice cream for me either, I think I have an allergy to monk fruit and the one brand I like made my mouth itchy. Also it seem to like unpopular or ice cream flavors of bygone eras: mint chocolate chip (but it must be mint flavored vanilla, not green), rum raisin and custom ice cream shop flavors of lemon poppy seed and lavender honey (which I was told was the most requested by their octogenarians patrons).
  14. I’m definitely making this! My boyfriend became obsessed after having Cuban homemade flan in Miami during one of my plastics rounds. Just whispering flan from a different room and he’ll hear it. ?
  15. I didn’t want to scare anyone, just give the perspective of a surgeon who sees many cases. The doctor speaks on average outcomes. Your surgeon can speak to the specifics of your case which is why you should raise your concerns with them as soon as you have them.
  16. This is the porridge of my childhood: https://www.africanbites.com/jamaican-corn-meal-porridge/
  17. I would try on yogurt, cottage cheese or in an oatmeal/porridge (Do people even eat porridge anymore? ?)
  18. I’m going to try to make vegan versions of these.
  19. I wish we had flares on this site because Titty Consult would be mine ?
  20. This pattern of eating is unhinged. It’s like reverse tetris!
