Drinking once is not going to damage you. You have to drink heavily for years.
You learned from your mistake, don't beat yourself up about it, it is the past you can't change it. Just move on.

I am 5 months post op, I have over 5 and 1/2 stone far, but at the weekend I went out and decided to have a few glasses of wine, not before surgery I was a cider/beer person but I know to stay away from carbonated drinks.< /p>
Well the wine obviously went straight to my head and I lost all control, I landed up drinking almost 3 entire bottles of rose wine, even before surgery I could only ever have handled one bottle, this was on Saturday night and now it is Tuesday I am still be absolutely rubbish both physically and obviously mentally as well.
Obviously it was a massive wake up call that I am not ready to drink again, but I am genuinely worried if I have damaged my liver or kidneys, I'm trying to keep as hydrated as possible, but my stomach is clearly out of sync, which is then just making the guilt cycle in my head. I am so mad at myself for not having control when I have been doing so well.
Was just wondering if anyone has any advice or similar stories on this as I have given myself a real scare

You should definitely check with your surgeon or surgeon's RN. I was told that I can't take anything larger than a dime so I cut my tablets where I can. I'm also taking hairnamics (huge pills) to help lessen Hair loss and I can now cut them in half and take them that way. If I must take acetaminophen, I take children's liquid otc for now. My other Vitamins are chewables like Flintstones or Celebrate (love their watermelon flavor).

The nerves in your stomach may not have healed back from surgery, which means you wouldn't have full feeling yet. This is also means you couldn't accidentally hurt your still-healing stomach. I would just move past it and make sure you don't do anything like it again. [emoji4]

I was just sleeved 3 months ago, along with my wife. We're good, but I've definitely changed. I don't put up with people's crap as much which has made my relationships with family, and my staff strained. It has made my staff respect me more but my family isn't quite as healthy and they are fighting against my new found voice.

Over four years post op and still happily married. I also have the same circle of friends plus a few more (I joined a running club and they are like family).

It is no secret that bariatric surgery exposes the raw dynamics of our relationships. That is not necessarily a bad thing. People just can't keep their mouths shut and you will very quickly find out what people really think about you. Then you have to deal with it and distance yourself from toxic interaction.
People that you thought were your friends can be mean and unsupportive.
Family can be mean and unsupportive.
Workmates can be mean and unsupportive.
Often when a marriage breaks down after you begin to lose weight, it was already broken before your surgery. Insecurities and jealousies can only hide for so long.
As you lose weight you gain confidence. Spousse find out that you can speak up for yourself, and they don't like it. They may throw roadblocks in your way, like deliberately bring home junk and eating it right in your face. The balance of control in a marriage can change.
So, just be prepared for what may come. If your mate can't be supportive of you being healthy and happy, then they don't deserve to be with you. You will either have to fix or flee.

I am 9 months post op and going through a dicorce. We would have been married for 10 years in September. After having surgery and loosing weight I gained some self confidence and my eyes were suddenly open to how emotionally abusive he was and to all the classic warning signs that he was cheating.

WiseBeauty reacted to Dashofpixiedust8 in It's been a year...
So it's been one year since surgery. I am so thankful everyday for my sleeve. Before surgery I had to be on oxygen because I was so overweight I couldn't breathe properly and could hardly walk around a room without getting out of breath. Now I can walk 6 miles and up hills without stopping for a rest.
I'm down 200 since surgery and 263 overall. I started at a size 36/38 (probably stretching it out) and now I'm a 18/20 too and 22 bottom (though probably smaller because of my extra skin...that will be gone soon though).
I'm having a panniculectomy on June 5th. I'm nervous but also excited. Anyone who has had it...what are some things you think I'll need to help me out while recovering!
I had a really rough 6 months after surgery with a bunch of complications but even with all of that I would do this again in a heartbeat.
    My stats are:
    Highest: 540
    Surgery: 480
    Current: 277.2
    Goal: 199
    Height: 5'10
I am almost exactly half who I used to be.

Thank you! I'm probably around 100-120/day. Docs office says 80 grams is the goal. I'm pretty comfy with 100 as that's probably a 1:1 ratio with lean mass. I'll find out for sure at my 1 yr check up. Just not sure if that's ok long term or only for the short-term losing phase. I'm a little paranoid about my kidneys due to watching my mother lose hers. Dialysis is no way to live if you can avoid it. [emoji22]

It is normal early on not to go for days and not because you are constipated but just because the quantity of food you eat is so small. As you eat more, you have more frequent bowel movements, By the time you are 6 months or so they should be close to normal.
My plan says I can have nuts at 8 weeks. I have only had nuts a couple times since surgery just because they aren't worth it, not enough Protein for the calories but you can have them. Nuts aren't hard to digest at all. You chew them and they break up very small and mushy, like a nut butter. By the time Christmas comes around you will have no issues with eating them at all.

"Ask your doctor" is the correct advice for you. For me, personally, I still have trouble taking standard size pills at nearly 4 months post op, but I can do it, both tolerance wise and with the advisement of my surgeon.

I have been eating pureed versions of foods like chicken parmesean and egg salad 3x daily. I have to remind myself to eat otherwise, with all the walking I do, I'll get light headed. I will progress to solid foods tomorrow and I can't wait. Getting enough Protein has been difficult especially since I have to cook separate meals for my son and myself (he needs high fat and protein due to his high metabolism) and I'm always on the go for my job. I just can't wait to have regular food again.
What's interesting is that there are foods that my family eats that I no longer have the desire to eat. And the smell of some of them makes me nauseous now (like zebra cakes and honey buns). I'm looking forward to getting to know this new me. ☺️☺️

I'm at 6 weeks PO on Wednesday.
I'm eating dinner, but the other meals are still Protein Shakes.
It feels too uncomfortable to eat more than one a day.
I also have a problem with Water, it's like it's too "hard" on my stomach?
How are you guys getting on with meals?

I don't feel hunger either. I have some reflux. I feel a fullness after a few sips. My stomach feels sick when I drink Premier. I'm looking for something else.

Okay...there is a notable difference between a woman telling you that "You're ugly" and actually feeling ugly. Our self-esteems should not hinge upon other peoples' opinions of us.
People who love and value themselves do not feel ugly. I do not place enough importance on other peoples' negative views of me to let them alter my positive feelings for myself.
In other words, conjure up some self-esteem. Learn to love yourself. Once you regard yourself highly, no one's words can break you down or cause you to feel badly.
I live by this quote: "Your opinion of me does not define who I am."

WOW! You must be dating a lot of women who only are looking at the out side of a man and not what he is made of on the inside. You were spared from these shallow women, it is their loss.
I dated a man for 6 months who had lost over 200 pounds. I was fine with the excess skin as it was him not his body that I liked. Plus I knew as soon as I had my surgery I would have the excess skin too. He told me he would be at the hospital the day of my surgery when I woke up. You want to know what happened. He never showed up and hasn't spoken or written to me since. I would say he had more of a problem than I did with excess skin.
What state are you in and how old are you? As these things may be factors into why you aren't finding the kind of women you deserve. Please don't settle for those shallow woman as they will never make you happy.
