  1. Katie, Hi, I had my band put in on May 22. I am doing really well, down almost 10 pounds. This last week has been pretty tough because I haven't had much restriction. I go for my first fill on Monday and I'm sure that will help. But I have been doing great otherwise, no nausea or anything. I only had to do clear liquids 24 hours before as well. I think it is mostly men that have to do the liquids longer because they store a lot of their fat around their livers. I didn't really care who did my surgery, but when I called to make the appointment, they scheduled me with Dr Paynter because Dr Ponce is only in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and those are days I have to work, so I went with Paynter because he is there Mondays and Wednesdays. That is really the only reason. It didn't matter to me, and I really like Dr Paynter, and I am sure they are both very qualified. Good luck with your surgery! The first few days are a little rough, but it gets much better. I am sure you will do fine!
  2. Dr Paynter did mine in Chattanooga. He is with Dr Ponce. If you go to gastricbandinstitute.com you can read about them. They are great.
  3. I had surgery May 22 and I couldn't wear a bra for about a week. My port is right in the middle of my chest between my breast, right where the bra goes across. But since my incisions have healed, I have no problem with underwire.
  4. I would also like to change clothes in front of my husband without being embarrassed.
  5. That's great!
  6. I know, why are all shirts made for your boobs to pop out of? I hate it. Another thing I hate- it seems all plus size shirts now look like maternity shirts.
  7. That's good to know. I never can find anything over a 40DD, and sometimes they are hard to find.
  8. I also prayed about whether or not to have surgery. I prayed for months. And it seemed like it was meant for me to have it. I didn't think I would be able to come up with the money at first. But then something changed that gave me the money to do it. I took that as a sign to have it done. I was also very scared and just when I was about to back out, something would happen to cause me not to. I also didn't think I was going to be able to get time off work, but again, something happened that allowed me the time. Just keep praying about it, and if it is the right thing for you, you will know.
  9. Phoenix, I couldn't have said it better myself. I relate to everything you said. To me, the easy way out would be staying fat. Everyone questions this in the beginnig, it is only normal. I almost backed out the day of surgery. I had surgery on May 22 and I haven't lost that much, but I would do it all over again in a minute. Cate, I had the same worries as you in the beginning. I only told my family and I didn't tell anyone at work (and we do work closely) because they are all so judgemental, and I didn't need them being the food police. I thought that it would be very hard to keep it from them, but it is not hard at all! You would be surprised how little people actually pay attention to what you are eating. I don't drink with my meals, but I keep a bottle of Water in front of me. No one even notices that I don't drink from it. And I have to eat a lot slower now. So we all usually finish eating about the same time, even though I am eating a lot less than they are. Plus, if your coworkers are like mine, everyone is usally on some kind of a diet anyway, so no one questions how little you eat.
  10. A girl at work had that procedure done and she hasn't had a period since. But it is only for women who don't want any more children. Since I don't have any yet, I can't have it done.
  11. I'll be happy losing a pound a week. Has anyone seen that commercial about losing 1 pound takes 4 pounds of pressure off your knees?! That's what I think about when I only lose a pound!
  12. I know a lot of people don't like Victoria's Secret because they are snotty, but their secret satin bras are the best. I wear a 40DD and this is the biggest size they make, so luckly I can still wear them. I buy mine on ebay though. No snotty salesperson to deal with.
  13. I feel mine too. I think it is just normal to feel it, especially laying flat.
  14. I know how you feel. I gained back almost 2 pounds this week and I hate it. I go for my first fill on Monday, so hopefully it will get better. I feel like I could eat as much as I want right now (even though I don't).
  15. LOL, that's a good question.
  16. My voice sounds young too, and I have curly hair, so I guess that makes me look younger as well.
  17. I don't really know if sex causes mine, I don't have it that much.
  18. Well, I have always had the opposite problem. No one thinks I am 30. Everyone thinks I am a lot younger. I know a lot of people would take it as a compliment, but I feel like I some people don't respect me because they think I'm young. I work in the medical field and a lot of patients have actually asked me if I'm old enough to have a job and then when I go to draw their blood, they get nervous because they think I'm too young to do it!
  19. I have one right now and I feel like crap. I got up to use the bathroom last night and OOCH it hurt. I have to go to the doctor today.
  20. Depo Provera did the opposite for me. I didn't think I would ever stop bleeding. I ended up in the hospital with a low blood count. That shot was evil for me!
  21. Go back to your doctor. There are a lot of people who get way off track. They see it all the time.
  22. It will get better when you get passed the liquids and can have some real food. I was banded May 22 and I already feel like it was worth it. I had a really big cry around 4 days after my surgery and I regretted doing it, but I think almost everyone goes through that. I am fine now. Just hang in there and you will feel better.
  23. Good luck. I'm sure you won't have any trouble getting approved.
