  1. ....???ummm....closet? What is that? I think that is what I affectionately refer to as "The Boutique". I have clothes ranging from size 8 all the way to 18. I hope to find a couple of needy women to donate the clothes to, as I hope to shut down the "Boutique" by years end. Will only carry one size.
  2. Yesterday I experienced two wonderful NSVs. My oldest son of 10 years is a few pounds overweight (15). He was offered a package of donuts and he only ate 2 then offered the remainder to his brother. The second came last night at dinner. Now, keep in mind ever since I have been banded the portion sizes have shrunk for all family members. It is impossible to convince me they can eat a lot of food. Any way I prepared a very small plate for him and before he was finished he announced he was full. I was absolutely shocked. His younger brother (9) typically announces he is full and absolutely refuses to put another morsel in his mouth. He has no wieght issues. But my oldest has a different body structure. Very thick and solid. He typically eats far more than my youngest. Well, last night he ate about the same as his younger brother. He had one drumstick, a tablespoon of rice.
  3. The gym offers a free consultation with a Nutritionist. I plan to make an appointment. I'll share with you what she says. Maybe it will help. I really don't understand why my nutritional goal woud be 2037 calories, but that is clearly what the report states. Confusing, huh?
  4. Today I had a Body Age Assessment done at my gym. The report indicates the following: 61.3% lean 38.7% fat fat mass - 82lbs* Lean Body Mass - 131.2 * Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) of 1858 calories/day 557 calories burned by processing food and normal daily activities Conclusion: Daily Caloric Intake 2037!Daily Meals 3 Daily Snacks 2 My confusion lies with the number of calories they have recommended I eat. Isn't that a lot? Why wouldn't they recommend I take in less calories? Aren't we supposed to take in less calories to lose weight? I think my calories are coming right at about 1300 calories. Perhaps this is why my weight loss has stalled? Who knows? What do I do? How many calories do you guys recommend I take in? * The fat mass they came up with is the same amount of weight I want to lose. I wonder if this means when I lose the weight will I have a nice lean muscular body underneath :scared: Thanks in advance for you help. Lisa
  5. Just want to say that half of the battle is being able to admit to ourselves the truth. Granted you haven't been eating ideally, but hey, you are human, right? . YOu are not alone in your weakness. I too slipped a little today. I ate 1/2 a Mr. Goodbar. I was so thankful that I voluntarily stopped 1/2 and not my standard 2 bars at a time.
  6. Went to the gym today and actually walked away feeling really, dare I say it, good. I walked 2 miles (45 minutes), kept the incline at 10 for most of it and for about a total of 15 minutes walked at a 15 incline. Did about 4 steps on this machine where you step up and do curls at the same time. I am not coordinated well enough to do two things at one time, so I stopped and moved to the shoulder press. Did 3 sets of 10 shoulder presses. I think it was 15lb or 25lbs. Leg extenders (works on quads). Did 3 sets of 10 at 55lbs. *This exercise machine is the one where you are lifting your legs or something. Calf -- did 3 sets of 10 of these. You sort of bend your knees, extend and then press the paddle thing with your feet. Hip extender - Did 3 sets of 10 25lbs. These I can feel. A little sore. The next machine worked the back of my thighs and buttocks. Did 3 sets of 10 at 55ls. After all of that I went and took a shower, washed hair and then sat in the aromatic steam room. This was rally nice. Food for the day ---- Breakfast - Jasmine Dragon tea Lunch - 1 walnut crusted chicken breast (thin & flat like smothered fried steak), spinach (a couple of leaves) Dinner - 2 over easy eggs Snack - EAS Chocolate Fudge Protein drink Water - 50oz or so 1/2 of Mr. Goodbar 1oz of VIBE

  8. Sunta, I too had really bad gas pains, but it does pass. I did an awful lot of walking and I firmly believe this helped as I did 'lose' it at time :-). Is the Tylenol in pill form? I was advised by my doctor not to take pills as they could very get stuck and really hurt. I took my pain meds in liquid form. Also, I too only did Clear Liquids in very small sips. Hope you feel better.
  9. Happy Anniversary! You are looking fabulous! I am not sure about others but these before and after pictures get me all emotional and teary eyed. I have never been happier for folks I have never met. Hugs
  10. I am so happy. I never thought I could do it. I did it about 3.1 mph and an incline of 11 (ok, sometimes I had to drop it down to 9 but still...). I am a little confused about something. I think I misunderstood the trainer, so I am hoping one of you can clear things up. I burned about 600 calories. Did I burn fat that was already stored or did I just basically burn 600 calories of the food I ate today? I hope to add weight training in a few weeks. Thanks much, :whoo:
  11. Christy, What got him to change his mind? Did you start to 'squeak'?
  12. I did not start in the 300 category, but want to comment that people will advise what they are most comfortable with. Perhaps your doctor doesn't have much experience with lap bands and particularly doesn't have much experience placing bands on patients with higher BMI's. Why don't you ask him how many bands has he placed on patients with similar weight/BMI as yours. Personally, I too belive the RNY surgery will help to take the weight off sooner but there are far too many tradeoffs. Far to invasive. I like knowing I haven't done anything 'permanent' to my body. Good luck with your decision.
  13. Teresa, During the entire 'activity' I kept thinking of the cowbell skit and cracking myself up laughing. My husband didn't know what was wrong with me and he didn't care. He just loved the fact I woke him from a nap. BTW have you seen the cowbell video? I couldn't believed I actually watched the whole thing --- twice! Lisa
  14. Delara, The heck with the Peanut Butter stories, I want to talk about the G-spot and ...um....um....the anal thing too. :-))
  15. Heather, ROFLMAO ---- I was just jokin. No cowbells involved. There is a guy who has as his signature tag line, "I love those cowbells...or more cowbells". Something like that. We didn't use Peanut Butter or cowbells, although I am sure my husband would like to see them tied to my ankles.
  16. Ok..I am back. We got out the Peanut Butter and the cowbells....and went at it. Hot Damned! It feels like I burned at least 300 calories. I'll be it was the cowbells. Hope I didn't offend anyone mentioning intimate toys.
  17. This thread has got me all hot and bothered. I think I am going to give my husband some much needed attention, as it seems I am a bit more attractive to him since losing 18 lbs. BTW I lost the weight due to this surgical procedure I had -- the lap band.
  18. Delara, I am a Christian and hell yes I have a vagina. Where is the thread? I must have missed it. I love the threads that address sex issues, as sex is real and worth talking about. Delara - I also agree with you that if you have to see and listen to those of us who are Christians rant and rave then we too must be tolerant of those who choose to communicate in ways that might be offensive (Note: not offensive to me). Where the hell is the naked man? Heck I wanna see that too! I too am dissapointed because I was expecting some real XXX stuff. That is why I clicked on the well labeled thread, becuase of the XXX which of course I associate with sex, pornography, kissing, adult stuff etc. Now seriously, I would be very offended if I opened a thread that wasn't labeled properly. However, I choose to be on this board and I choose to read what other say. I take some of what they say, I leave what I don't. WE aren't going to all agree all the time. Hell, that's life and that's what seperates the men from the boys - maturity. I love the racier threads and those brave enough to broach the subject.
  19. I agree get the gas-x pills and do try to walk. Even if it is only baby steps. I walked for what seems like hours at the hospital and then after discharge we went and did a little shopping (Mexico) where we walked even more. I hated it while doing it but understood walking is the best way to get things going. ONce I got home I would walk around (wouldn't do the steps) upstairs becuase my calves were aching as well. Also, try a tea that's helps with gas. I drank lots of tea during recovery. I too suffered with hiccups. It happened EVERY time I sipped something. It was excruciating. Then one morning I woke up and felt completely normal! As if I hadn't had surgery. I called my patient coordinator and told her something was terrible wrong. I was certain my band had slipped or something. I didn't expect to feel so completely normal. Hope you feel better soon. Hugs  Nicky, I have a 9.75 cm band that holds 5cc's. At time of surgery I got a 1.5cc fill. Still had the same symptoms you are describing, except I had to drink very slowly. Liquids didn't pass very quickly or easily (becuase of the swelling).
  20. I was banded on Dec. 12, 2005 and don't plan to get a fill. I rec'd a fill of 1.5cc at the time of surgery (not enough fat around my stomach, band was too loose), so I don't really know if this counts as a fill. I don't really count it. I kinda view it as a necessasity for the band to remain in place. I have a little restriction. Not nearly as much as others. I can chug-a-lug Water and can eat much more than a 'bite or two'. I can almost eat a full saucer of food - depends on the food. Have lost 17 lbs so far. Probably could have been more if I hadn't picked up drinking coffee again. I have since switched to non-fat and limit it to 3x week.
  21. I agree! What an inspiration!
  22. $7,300 in Acuna Mexico. Dr. Rodriguez. Included everything except airline tickets.
  23. I have started walking at the gym. Right now I really just want to make it a habit of actually going, even if it is only for half an hour. I am going to concentrate on walking for the next couple of weeks before moving to weights.
  24. Ladies, It was really nice meeting you all today. I called my husband and told him about the gathering and my goals, which are very aggressive by my standards. I promised to look up some information regarding getting insurance approvals for the WLS. Below is the .pdf file for your review. I am not sure who mentioned that one of the files I posted required payment for thier services, you were right. I didnt' read the information, as I am a self pay client. But I am not going to include it here. For those of you seeking insurance approval, I hope this helps. Lisa Oh, yea. Thanks for the obesity help website. I think I landed on here before (forum) but didn't realize just how much information they provided. www_geocities_com_laylaburd_AGB_inssurg.pdf
