Honestly, I wouldn't mention anything about your weight...or being overweight on the first date. Kind of thinking maybe that subject would be best left to another time. Let them know the real you 😊

Try to keep a positive attitude. 31 pounds in three months is over 10 pounds a month. Take a photo of yourself pre-op and put a photo of yourself now next to it. You should see a difference. Sometimes you lose inches and not weight. Keep positive and stay on track. Everyone's weight loss journey is their own. You will lose weight at your own rate. Don't judge your weight loss against anyone else.

redfire_angel75 reacted to Berry78 in Hunger from hell
I sneaked a peak at some of your other posts. You've mentioned eating crackers and a mini bagel a while ago. If you are still eating wheat, that has to stop. WHAT you eat is more important than how much or even how often at this point.
I have a markerboard in my kitchen. On it I have written:
1. Coffee/vitamins/milk: 9g Protein
2. Breakfast smoothie (spinach, fruit, coconut water) OR pint of low sodium V8
3. 1 ounce nuts: 7g protein
4. Egg with beans: 14g protein
5. 4oz meat: 28g protein
6. 4oz cottage cheese: 12g protein
Total 70g protein
As I get hungry through the day, I check the foods off my list. Sometimes I have my meat first and smoothie at 7pm. It doesn't matter. I just push to get it all in.
I'm 9 weeks out, so as I have room, I'll add more non-starchy vegetables.
Having a set menu frees me up so I don't have to wonder what to buy at the store, or what my next meal will be. I keep substitutions to a minimum.

My favorite so far is chicken and refried Beans. I made my family chicken tacos and I used 3 ozs of the chicken and 1oz of the beans and pureed it.

redfire_angel75 reacted to PatientEleventyBillion in MILKTHISTLE to help shrink the LIVER
Unnecessary. A simple low carb, low cal, high Protein diet is more than sufficient to shrink the liver.
Example foods that I used:
- Lean ground beef, lean chicken, etc.
- Almonds, peanuts, low carb Peanut Butter
- eggs
- String cheese
Plenty of others, but those were my bread and butter.
The best way to know during a diet like this that your liver is shrinking is you'll lose weight.. maybe not right away, but after a few days or a week or so and beyond. Not only did I lose 79 pounds on a 3 month pre-op diet consisting of this, but I had pictures of my liver taken, and from stage 3 fibrosis before pre-op, it was in great shape on surgery day.

Enjoy your new low weight. !!
Many of us find there is a bounce range and our original low weight often is difficult to stay and maintain.
Maintenance is a bit tricky but is doable. You have changed your life ... and I congratulate you on your victory!

redfire_angel75 reacted to Kimmy0926 in HOW LONG BEFORE THE WEIGHT LOSS STOPS?
Hello! I was sleeved 6/30/15 - when I felt that what I had lost was enough and started looking too thin in my face especially, I bumped up my calorie intake by 200 calories. I went with that for about 2 weeks, adjusted to the new amount of calories and put back 5 pounds on. It made ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD! I've been holding steady for 6 months now only teetering when my monthly is due. Good Luck!! Hope this info helps.

Cals need to be more around 800 post surgery. All great tools and advice though!! Unfortunately the only thing that will stop the cravings is to cut out bread completely--at least until you reach goal or close to. I am going through the same thing with sugar and I've just promised myself once I'm in maintenance and have more cals to spare, some will go towards dessert.

Whew. Well you're honest with yourself and that's a start. I've heard of people "eating their way through the surgery", but never heard someone admit to it. For that, I'm very glad you posted. Let me start by sharing that I am pre-op so can only relate to being an extreme carb lover who also has a long history of binging. Even saying the word "carb" brings on the most severe head hunger. I assume since you paid out of pocket, you were able to get surgery without any requirements which would aid in preparing you for the limitations so I will start from where you're at now with that assumption. I will seem harsh. Please know I intend to be straight forward because I have to personally hear it myself right now as well due to head hunger.
You have already had the surgery before being mentally prepared. Since you can't change the surgery, your option is to grow up and get a grip on yourself. Or, you can choose to be the proof outsiders need when stereotyping us about finding the easy way out, cheating at losing weight, and being lazy. If you choose to actually work at this, here are a few recommendations.
Tell your doctor. If you can't, join a support group in person asap.
Talk to your PCP about being on a dr monitored diet.
Track ALL calories. Every single thing that goes in your mouth, put in MyFitnessPal and keep your calories at 1200 (I'm personally at 1000).
Step away from carbs. Easier said than done, but if I can do it, so can you.
Understand you have an addiction. Treat it as such. Get rid of all temptations, pre plan your meals, cook at home or bring a meal or shake out with you.
Buy pre cooked GRILLED chicken breast for those moments you don't want to cook. Pop one of those in the microwave and you have an almost instant meal that will dull bad cravings.
Get a nutritionist and remain honest with them.
And finally, for everyone else's sake whose going through the aggravation of educating the masses about how hard we work to be successful at this, please don't contribute to the stereotype and fail. Be stronger than your addiction, tell your head to shut up and keep your hands away from junk. Our minds and bodies are stupid when it comes to this stuff. Consider them your enemy and get back in charge of yourself!

redfire_angel75 reacted to blizair09 in What do you eat?
I eat 7 times per day, about 2 hours apart. And I eat the same thing every day.
Meal #1: 1 scrambled egg with 1/2 piece of American cheese and 2 oz of chicken or pork loin (scrambled in the egg)
Meal #2: 4 oz cottage cheese with 1 T sugar-free strawberry preserves
Meal #3: 2 oz salmon or chicken, 1 string cheese, 10 ParmCrisps
Meal #4: 3 oz chicken, 1 oz green Beans, 5 ParmCrisps
Meal #5: 2 oz hamburger steak (90% lean), 1 oz green beans, 5 ParmCrisps
Meal #6: 3 oz salmon, 1 oz green beans, 5 ParmCrisps
Meal #7: 4 oz cottage cheese with 1 T sugar-free strawberry preserves
I drink 32 oz of Water after Meal #1 and Meal #2, 16 os of water after Meal #3, Meal #6, and Meal #7. I always allow 30 minutes after eating before I drink and at least 30 minutes after drinking before I eat again. (It is almost never time to eat again 30 minutes after finishing the water, so that is never an issue.)
This comes out to 1000-1100 calories, 20 carbs, and 110-130 grams of Protein depending on the day. The only time I ever have to have Protein Shakes is if I am traveling for work. And even then, I usually only have to have 1 since I can't drag food around with me everywhere I go.
Good luck!

I am pre-op and my allowance for nutriton at each meal is 10g or less of fat and sugar, but at least 10-12g of Protein. I just recently made a white chicken chili that turned out great and was well under the fat grams allowed, but very filling! There is a recipe cauliflower fried rice that is really good too on the food network. If I want something sweet I'll make some sugar-free fat-free chocolate pudding and mix Fairlife fat free milk (you can't tell it's ff) and Jiff Peanut Butter powder. Low sugar, low fat, high protein and really tasty. You can find the white chicken chili on Pinterest
