  1. Hi there AlisonJean! Welcome to the boards. We have lots of bandsters, and quite a few sleevies too! So pull up a chair and look around, because there is a LOT of information to sort through!
  2. w00t!!1 I call first place in line!!
  3. Good for you, Andrea. Remember, no matter how we dress it up or use our bands, the bottom line is that we have to burn more calories than we eat to lose weight. Keep up the good work!
  4. I voted "use a modest covering". It doesn't bother me in the least (work in a medical setting and have seen it all. NBD) to see breastfeeding. When I voted "covering" I wasn't so much thinking a physical cover so much as a little discretion, like cyndi was saying. Anywhoo, I think it's a little sad that some people get up in arms about stuff like breastfeeding, but think that the graphic violence and torture that is vogue in movies and TV is suitable for children. Weird commentary on our culture....
  5. carlyg. you are my hero. Not only for the astounding weightloss, but because you have the stones to try ripping your own band out. Before trying that, you might want to bite down on a stout piece of leather, lol. Seriously, that is a fan-freaking-tastic weight loss! Way to go!!!
  6. Hey, Katie, do what ya gotta do to stay healthy. I would tell you that the world would not be better off without you....but you're a smart girl and I think on an intellectual level that you already know that, despite what your anxiety disorder is wispering in your ear. So, go......feel better and come back to us when you're ready. I don't get to chat with too many 19 y/o's, so if nothing else, check in from time to time and humor a pathetic old fart like me, mmmmm ' kay?
  7. Gas pains associated with new surgery are because of the way the docs fill your abdominal cavity with CO2 so they can "see" where to put the band. Because the gas is not inside of your stomach, Gas-X strips won't really help. Walking helped me more than anything else. Walking and time.
  8. 11 hrs? I think I'd start getting a little bit bored by then....
  9. Clearly SNT is trippin' on the good drugs. Probably staring at her hand listening to "In a gadda da vida"......or maybe I'm the only one doing that right now?
  10. You know, Steve, I don't think that's crazy at all. In fact, the American dream is to work hard, make money, and give Uncle Sam his due. What I think is unfair, though, is to severely increase taxes in relation to what your studio is bringing in. See, I kind of think of it as the law of diminishing returns, by increasing the percentage at which you're taxed. At some point, it's just not worth putting in the effort to work, since you still have to do the full amount of work for far less profit. This seems to me to discourage small business from working as hard. Also, it would seem to discourage the other end, the poor person (and I'm waaaaay closer to that end of the spectrum) from working hard, since there is also a point of diminished returns there (ie, I get x amount of federal support from not working at all. If I have to physically get out and work, I'm only gonna make Y). I am not wealthy....My combined family income isn't nearly half of the 250,000...but I still think that redistribution of wealth is not what America is about.
  11. Maybe you should have explained what it would be like if his teacher handed out grades like Obama wants to hand out wealth: Points will be taken from the "A" students (but only those that make 95% or better in a subject) and given to the "F" students. Why? Because regardless of effort, in America everybody deserves to be the same. Sheesh.
  12. In summary, yes, we are ready for a black president. The real question is, "Are we ready for a president that believes in forcing some Americans to give up their money to other Americans"?
  13. Seriously, I do get what you're saying. Common sense should go further than it does. I daresay anybody can support almost any crackpot theory by having another loon validate it for them on the internet. When it comes to weightloss, or just health in general, there are very very few absolutes. What is true (or works) for one person may not be true (or not work) for another.
  14. Andrea, congrats on having the courage to post that right now you're struggling.....and for not giving up. Here's the thing....it's never too late to get back on the right track. So keep on exercising and trying to pick better food choices. It took me 3 fills to get to my sweet spot. I know it's difficult, but be patient....and hey, support is what we deal in here. So when ya need some, come get some (I realize that kinda sounded like a pro wrestler's tag line, but you know what I mean)!
  15. Awesome results, Chris!!
  16. Welcome to LapBandtalk, Babygirl. There's a lot of stuff to wade through. Good luck on your journey!
  17. When it comes to syndicated radio entertainment, there's nothing better than The Bob and Tom Show. I listen to it on my way home from work every morning.
  18. Pretty cool! It sounds a little like a sitar to me (I totally mean that as a compliment).
  19. Hey I wanna go to Mexacali too!! I'll sip las Margaritas whilest y'all take care of bidness.
  20. Wow....that's some irony right there.
  21. Great post, Jacqui. Did you find it on the internet?
  22. You mean a hot and smart blonde conservative chick?!? Where? WHERE?
  23. Wow, some of those pumpkins were extremely intricate!!
  24. Mac, she was just hatin'......I think she's jealous.
