WHY are people voting for McCain?
Well, this is kind of fuzzy logic as well. 1)There are very few mothers that have ZERO support today. Look at WIC and welfare. Is it a great system? Hells naw! But they're not exactly left to their own wits and devices (and if somebody was driven to have a better life, they could, uh, not have any more kids, and start work / school as soon as the baby started school...but that's off point). 2) This is a bit disingenuous. Pro-lifers are not automatically pacifists. There's a difference between a baby and a terrorist, IMO. But as a country, we'd better be on the lookout for...baby terrorists!! 3) - nothing wrong with being born into extreme poverty. Both my parents were. Growing up, if they didn't grow or shoot their food, they didn't eat....and there were plenty of times they went without. There were some abuse / alcohol issues with their parents. My parents are first gen college grads. They were ignorant of scholarships, and so worked full-time to go to school. My point is, in America, most everybody has a chance. Being aborted is zero chance. If I wrote much more, I'd have to publish this post as a novel, eh?

WHY are people voting for McCain?
I get your point, Gadget, but I think it's a little black and white. I would actually have to put myself in the pro-choice camp. As a Christian, I think abortion is a sin.....but my deal is that I don't think the federal government should legislate the issue. I think it should become a states' rights issue. I think I would not support abortion in any way, but I don't want the fed sticking their fingers into my (or any American's) life any more than they already do. Ironically, that's one of the reason's I'll probably vote McCain.

Depends on what your insurance wants to do. In my neck of the woods (very cosmopolitan and sophisticated....you might not fit in up here, SNT...) Medicare patients have to stay overnight, almost everybody else gets to be an outpatient (but there is another pretty common insurance that has their pts stay overnight...I can't remember now...maybe tricare? How 'bout it military folks?). Also, I guess it is possible that the doc might specify if they want a particular patient to stay the night (because of complicated medical history, or maybe concurrent procedures?).

Yeah, I think SNT was agreeing with you. Of course, I still believed in Santa Claus until last Tuesday. That was when the Tooth Fairy left me a note explaining that Santa is a fraud.

risky......anyone ever have a threesome?
Maybe I'm too old as well. The idea of a threesome, strictly as a fantasy, has a certain appeal....but the reality would be a mess. In my younger days I certainly had opportunities, but I managed to avoid avoid avoid. I would look at it like this: There is a risk (however slight) that this action may damage your marriage. Personally, I'm not willing to take that risk for sex....I gots no complaints in that department anyway. I wish you both , uh, luck? lol.....I wonder what "good luck" in this context would entail?!?

WHY are people voting for McCain?
What Gadget said.....Of course you can personally dislike (or even hate) Palin, or her views, or whatever....but I'd think that feminists (a group of people committed to advancing the personal power of women) would welcome that she is in the running for a very powerful position. I'd liken this to civil rights leaders decrying a black guy that was running for president as a republican.....It's a shame that something as petty as politics has riven a wedge between feminists (or at the very least has exposed a very ugly side of it) Healthcare....it sucks. I don't know the answer. Socialized healthcare is the worst case scenario of things that could happen here in America.....but I do think that everbody who holds down a fulltime job should have access to affordable health insurance, even if they make minimum wage. If you work, you're a productive citizen, ergo you deserve health insurance (IMO).

Lulac, I'm about 180 mi. east of you....yes it's gotten cold. I love love love that people here break out the heavy coats when the temp drops to the low 60's. Anything below 60 is officially cold. It's such a Texas thing, I think.

Wow, harsh! You haven't seen any of my earlier filmwork, have you? I was young and needed the money! After reading SNT's comment, I guess I can 'fess up to also throwing in some "jazz hands" to any dance.

WHY are people voting for McCain?
Hoo Boy! So, according to Eve Ensler, being a feminist isn't so much about empowering women, but empowering women that believe the same way that Eve Ensler does. I mean, if you believe in creationism, you can't be a feminist? If you are pro life you're not feminist? If you don't believe in global warming (or are even on the fence) you cannot be a feminist? Funny how the common denominator of being women goes by the wayside when the politics don't match up. In the article you posted, Ms. Ensler rants about closed minds......well, she has become that which she sought to fight. Also, Ms. Ensler makes several de facto errors in her article, but I....must....resist.....

WHY are people voting for McCain?
Slightly off topic, but why do liberals hate Palin so much? I thought they fancied themselves as being open-minded?
