Too few calories can be just as bad than too many. Many "low cal" products have added sugar - which is what you want to stay away from.

You may have felt back to normal but your insides were far from it. You are an adult and can do what you want but please don't encourage others to do the same. Drinking alcohol this early out is extremely dangerous. You may feel fine but you have no idea what type of damage you could have done.

Thank you Joy and Kristen. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only person that's had issues with this. I was so frustrated trying to figure out how to make this happen. And how other people have been successful with it because obviously people were. I really appreciate all of you for responding. It's great having a support system of people that care enough to help even if we don't know each other.
Today seems a little better so I'm hoping each day does get easier. The last few days I was wondering what the heck I did to myself. Haha! But one day I'm sure I'll realize it was all worth it.

Yeah I have appointments on Monday. I just was curious to see if this was common. I participated in a 5k this morning and I know I'm at a deficit on Water right now. I'm struggling to get it in without eating.

@@coloreyes Congrats on your loss so far! I had a few sessions of therapy pre-op to deal with this type of issue. I believe it helped (although I'm only 10 days out so that's yet to be proven). I agree about cutting out carbs - they just make you crave them more. Go back to tracking - focus on Protein and getting in enough fluids. You have come this far - you can do it!

A PPI does not help prevent a stricture - I know, I have one.
It is necessary, however, to help reduce the acid production in your new tiny tummy so make sure you get on one ASAP.
Acid is unlikely the cause of your distaste for Water right now, though. That's fairly common. I'm still there 3.5 years out. Have you tried different temps? Adding a SF flavor? Sometimes you simply need to change the pH level of the Water to make it easier to swallow. I drank Gatorade mixed with water 50/50 for my first 3 months with approval from my surgeon. It was the only way I could get it down.

I hope that you're calmer today. It's your disappointment that I can relate to, having lost 115 lbs from the time of my surgery and then, about 45 lbs from the loose goal I had in mind, beginning to regain about 75 lbs. It's "failure" and "failing" that I don't feel (not all the time, at any rate), as I know exactly what set me in reverse. It's all the other, original-equipment crap that kept me regaining.
@@Bufflehead and @@KristenLe have offered perfect suggestions. Bufflehead's tip to turn to healthy, real foood stands out. Forget the proteen (deliberate misspellings) powwders. Real foood is so much more satisfying and, well, real. It's also a pointer to more smart foood choices. Shaakes, not. KristenLe homed in on your weight loss and what you've kept off. Take a look at that and take ownership of its significance.
Say some kind things to yourself. Your own thought process is a far greater obstacle than are sugar and carbs.
There's some magical thinking in the mix. Your stomach wasn't removed and, if you knew at the start that you had to acquire new eating habits, knowing that regain and no loss were possibilities were part of the package.

We are all the sum of our minds, bodies, emotions, experiences and more. By viewing your mind as a separate entity, you're putting up road blocks. If it isn't part of you, of course you have no control over it.

"Vicious." "Addict." "Sick addict." "Super jealous (of which there is no good kind)." Negative to the max.
It's possible that you will reach your goal by your birthday, but it makes no sense to put a deadline on yourself. What if you're three lbs short on the day? The way you're speaking suggests that you may wail that you're a failure over three lbs. "Losing weight" as a goal, period, makes sense. Losing weight is good.
It's not sugar that derailed you. It's all the stuff that took you to it. Working with a therapist isn't at all a bad idea. A cognitive behaviorist can be a great help in sorting things out and reclaiming the power.

You sought the help of a surgeon to "fix" the physical part of Portion Control, why not seek the help of a psych professional to address the mental parts? Some people can fix this part on their own through self imposed will power, excercise, self help books, addiction recovery programs, etc. If you have tried all of these options without success, I strongly recommend you seek personal counseling. You are an addict and need to figure out what drives you to do the things you do so you can address those issues and devise a plan to change those addictive behaviors.
My sleeve, diligently sticking to my diet plan and tracking/measuring everything helped me lose weight initially, but I give full credit to my therapist for helping me to keep losing to goal and staying there. What I learned over 3 years with her has helped improve ALL aspects of my live, not just the parts involving food. It took a long time, hard work, and a lot of commitment, but 6 years later my new behaviors and skinny lifestyle are just normal for me now.

Yup. If one lurker learns that ice cream or chicken or wine is NOT ok at five days out because I throw out my OPINION, great. Clearly some people DON'T know how dangerous their behaviors are and I refuse to coddle anyone. If that makes me a "meanie pants", so be it.

I think that number one, the tone of a lot of posts from some newcomers is one of, "I didn't get any education about any of this prior to surgery and have no idea what I'm doing." Other than that, I see some that are clearly seeking to go off-program and are hoping to have ANYONE enable their decision. All it'll take is one or two people saying, "Go for it!" Even if there are 50 saying, "That's ridiculous."
While it's true that different programs prescribe different plans, and there are variations (I was allowed to skip the pureed stage, for instance), the guidelines are more or less the same. Eliminate sugar as much as possible, cut down on the fat, prioritize Protein and eat complex carbs, avoiding simple ones like bread, Pasta and rice. That is pretty standard, across the board. So don't come and ask whether pizza or chicken wings are okay, one week post-surgery. You already know the answer.
If you want to know if something is okay to eat, call your surgeon's office and ask the dietician who should be helping you. If you don't have one, read the litany of advice available via Google search, or trust the MAJORITY opinion that you get on a board like this one. The gist of the feedback is almost always going to be, "Take it slow, don't rush, and make much better decisions than you did pre-op."

I think that's normal. When people are in pain, they think something went wrong with the surgery, when people (like myself) had the easiest recovery (or was hungry the first couple of weeks), we think something went wrong with the surgery. By the 3rd day I felt so "normal" and I swear I thought they didn't do it except that I had holes all over my tummy hehe.... But once I hit the solid food stage, there was no doubt about it. ^^ Your hunger will drop off once the swelling goes down and you get the acid under control.

I made my own broth. Use can or box broth and boil celery, onion, carrots in it and add spices. I used salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, paprika. Much better than store bought. You'll be so much better off sticking with the pre-op diet. It's brutal but prepares your body for surgery and you mind for post-op. Good luck to you all! I'm 10 days post-op.
