  1. I use shampoo on my legs, seems almost ironic, lol. But with my hair, I don't spend much on shampoo, the conditioner is where I put my money. Therefore I don't want to use the expensive conditioner on my legs. Then I use olay for all over body wash. For razor, I dated a bodybuilder (who got me interested in it for a while, best shape of my life, until I fell back into depression) he suggested the Mach 3. It is awesome! I've never been nicked since using it. I use it even in intimate areas.
  2. Well, looks like I may be the only Marine wife getting ready for the ball. But I'm doing this for me, so still going to post the pix. The black dress is from last year's ball (i'm a little tipsy in that pic). The other pix my daughter took. (both were taken with phone, so not the best quality. The pix i have of the ball on my computer have been photoshopped so it doesnt look like a thigh is hanging from my shoulder) The weekend of Sept 13th I'm meeting my mother-in-law (and to think tomorrow is our 5th anniversary and I haven't even met her yet); I'd like to lose at least 10 pounds by then. That will be my mini goal; with the ball my next goal.
  3. It wasn't my first NSV, but I must share! The other night hubby and I were intimate and when he had his arms around me, I could feel that his hand could reach further around me than he had previously been able to. It made me feel so good. I told him about it the next day, but he didn't seem to understand why what seemed like such a small thing meant so much to me.
  4. Yes, my family is. I only know my mother's side of the family. My mom has struggled with her weight for as long as I can remember. In fact due to always seeing my mom on a diet, I raised my daughter to view people differently. We discuss healthy and in-shape compared to when I grew up all i heard was how fat my mom was. My grandparents (maternal) are both extremely overweight. My grandfather had a heartache when I was a preteen, grandma has diabetes. My mom has blood clots in her legs and other health issues due to her weight and her constantly dieting. With me turning 40 in a few weeks, I wanted to avoid some of the medical issues. I already feel better, having only lost 40 pounds.
  5. Tomatogirl, what kind of IUD do you have? I have an IUD but my periods are from hell now. I have cramps so bad, I can time them, they get to be 7 minutes apart, and for about half a day every month I go through that. Plus they are heavier since getting the paragard IUD.
  6. I use Instead and it is great! Occassionally when I don't want to deal with the mess, I use tampons. But I special order Instead because its not available in any stores around here anymore. A lot of the places don't even know what I'm talking about when I do ask. Its just easier to order it, I order enough to last about a year.
  7. I prefer small or average size. The way we all feel with society pushing bony models on us and influencing many of us to feel inferior, men have the size thing to worry about. Toys or men, I prefer smaller. I see some of the larger toys in the catalogs and it just looks painful, not enjoyable. And, I have an embarrassing story about kids and "toys". One morning when my son was a toddler, I went to answer the door, and while I was there talking to my mother who had stopped by for a second, my son comes toddling over with a vibrator in his hand. How sweet, huh. The night before hubby and I had used it, and I thought hubby had put it away.
  8. I think it may be a combination of you are hitting your sexual peak (men hit it late teens-early 20's; women early to mid 30's) and your new found confidence. With all that going on, who wouldn't feel more frisky? My sexual peak seemed to last at least a couple of years. Or maybe it was because I was newly single again and it seemed the men I attracted were much younger and in thier peak. (A couple I even carded to be sure). My husband is 13 years younger than me (6 years older than my oldest son). Enjoy your peak! Now that I'm nearing menapause, I am fighting it tooth and nail. I want to do things, but I have no desire. Men have viagra, I use alcohol, which sucks with the empty calories. For a while hubby thought it was him, even though I tried several times to explain. I say, enjoy it, you only live once.
  9. I didn't get to scan last year's pix yet. I had my daughter take a pix of me before I went to work yesterday, but I don't want to post it without the "before" pix. Wow, you're getting married in Hawaii, awesome! I know you are going to be gorgeous. Is it going to be on the beach? How exciting!
  10. I'm sure I'm not the only Marine wife here. The Marine Corps Ball is coming up in November :Dancing_wub:and I refuse to look like I did last year! (I don't know when other military service members have thier events, if around the same time, of course you are welcome to join us!) I would like to combine weight to lose and exercise accomplished in this challenge. This is mainly to keep me motivated. I was on a plateau for a month; the scale was teasing me, getting close to 160 but never under. When my daughter started school, I decided that instead of trying to grab a few more winks after dropping her off, I am going to workout. That must have been what helped break the plateau. Finally this morning I was under 160. I started out super slow, can't believe it's even helping, but its something. Right now I am only at 15 minutes in the morning. I just find usually a cardio workout on OnDemand, with an ab workout when my legs just ache too much. Also, if we have previous Ball pix, let's post them. I will try to scan mine and post it (the un photoshopped one, lol, i photoshopped it before we sent them out) Name............Beginning Wt............Current.............Goal......Left to Lose NewHope4Me.......................159.6.......................159.6.....................140...........................19.6 Wish everyone the best of luck!
  11. I'm so excited! The scale has been teasing me for weeks! Finally this morning, it was below 160! WoooHooo! And to think, I am so sore I was going to skip my workout this morning, but this gave me even more motivation to follow through! When I first signed up for this challenge, I wanted to get to goal by the 22nd, my anniversary. It doesn't look like that's going to happen, but at least I feel motivated again. Every day after I drop off my daughter at school, I work out. Last year, that was 30 minutes I would lay back down to try to get a few more winks.
  14. I think it depends on your personality. I went to Mexico alone. My husband is a Marine, and practically takes an act of God for him to go to Mexico, therefore I went alone. I didn't have a negative experience. We spoke on the phone several times a day while i was there. The hospital (Alamater, in Mexicali) was great, the staff, and especially Dr. Aceves. The others that were getting banded were sweet and we all talked and checked on each other. I had a positive experience.
  15. I haven't checked in. My scale has moved, down, then up, then down, the same 2-3 pounds each time. Think i need a fill, but they are so full don't think i'll get in until towards the end of August. Also am going to be hitting the gym every morning after i drop off my daughter at school beginning next week. (there it is, in writing, now i can't back out of it) (if anyone knows a great hair style for med/long naturally curly hair that is easy to fix after a shower, let me know. that's one concern for after i finish at the gym, i have to go to work.) Glad to see the success everyone else is having. Keep up the great work!
  16. I just saw an ad for yaz on TV. I didn't know about helping with the emotional aspects of pms, that sounds interesting. Wish I didn't have this damn IUD. Regarding no periods, when i was reading about the different types of BC, I read that drs. have had the ability to give us BC pills that when taken, we do not have periods since like the 60's (if i remember the article correctly) But because they thought we women would think it odd not to have a period, they made the pills have the cycle that we are all used to with the placebo pills during the days of our period. I don't think its "unhealthy" to not have a period. I believe all the pill does is basically tell your body that you are already pregnant, so that it doesn't continue to release the egg every month. I would prefer no periods compared to this IUD, actually. I completely regret getting it.
  17. this is why i can't bring myself to go to the gym! My ex-husband was one of those people. We would drive down the street and he would holler at people the meanest things. Once I even asked him, what if that person was extremely depressed and you just gave them the one reason they were looking for to decide whether they were going to take thier life or not that day. He blew it off. Even if i don't hear people say these things, i "hear" them.

I think the lack of respect for school staff goes back to the parents. Many parents spend very little time, quality or otherwise, with thier children, they aren't raising the kids. Teachers can't make up for what parents haven't done before the kids entered school. I don't think that has to do with spanking. One can be strict without spanking.

Speaking of spanking...I was trying to get my daughter into this school, had heard great things about it, etc. Then, a co-worker tells me that she heard that they spank. This shocked me, a school that still spanked! The day after I heard this, the school called to tell me that my daughter got in. I asked them if this was true and they confirmed it. I can't understand how they do this, there are so many issues. 1. Spanking is a parental decision. Even if a parent does choose to spank, usually they are the only ones who they want spanking thier kid, no one else. I was told if it came to that, the school would call me to ask if i wanted to be present or not. I asked what would happen if I didn't want her spanked, and they said they wouldn't. Which brings me to #2, Fairness. What if my child gets into trouble with her friend, both doing the exact same thing. The school calls me, I say no, the other parent says yes to spanking. So, 2 kids now just got 2 different punishments for the same offense. #3 Fear. Although some would argue that this may be a good thing, my daughter is already afraid to go to this school. I have told her that i don't even spank her, so there's no way i would let anyone else spank her. But she's afraid for the other students as well. (we have found another school for her) #4 Legal aspects. I have cared for children (used to have day care in my home so that I could stay home with my babies) in my home. This is a touchy subject. I never spanked any of the kids that I cared for, even if I had consent from thier parents. Suppose some parent does agree to have thier child "spanked" but their idea of spanking is 2 swats, the school's idea of swats is 6 or what if something happens (i.e. the child moves, the child bruises easily, etc) and the child bruises or there are marks on the legs or something, even though the school had permission, I believe the parents would have grounds for charges. I really couldn't believe this is happening in schools still. In elementary school I was "shown" the paddle (one step under actually being spanked), but that was a different era. Spanking another person's child, no matter what your relationship, is a very sticky situation. Another co-worker brought up another point. If you are a parent that wants to be present while your child is getting spanked, how awkward would that be?!? I have never been a parent that went to the school and said "...my child would never..." Because i will be the first to say, if my child had a chance they more than likely would, lol. I have always made them face the consequences of thier actions, but in a non-violent way. A co-worker was trying to convince me that my daughter is "good, she won't do anything." But she's a kid, and will break the rules at some point.
  20. Since you are in AZ, i would recommend Dr. Borsand in Scottsdale. He is awesome. I got implants in 2005. Also, he has what he calls the 24 hour procedure. There is very little scarring, and within 24 hours the pain is minimual. It felt like i had a hard workout the day before, that type of pain. I went back to work within a week. His website is bodynew.com
  21. I have an IUD. While hubby is deployed, I wouldn't use any birth control (no reason to). Before he came home the last time, I got paragard. I like it except for the periods. My periods are heavier now, much heavier! And cramps from hell! I can time my cramps out (usually 7 minutes) during the second day of my period. It sucks, its like being in labor every month. I had checked into the IUD before i got it, but did not see anything about the heavier periods and more cramping until after I got it. The only reason i don't get it out, i know it's going to hurt to take it back out. (putting it in, they said it would be like "mild cramping"- Bullsh**! a friend had given me a pain pill, just in case, i was so grateful she did. it was beyond "mild cramping")
  22. Nah, hubby didn't think to ask. He's gonna try to get ahold of his friend this weekend though.
  23. Of course I say that and they are sold out. LOL My husband's friend works at the 7day, he is going to hold one for us when they come back in. I see you have another offer, but if you want, he will hold 2 for us.
  24. Wasa, that is exactly what i was thinking. If this happened, it would be in the news. I am from the midwest, a very small town and believe me, I've heard all the horror stories about all the things that happen (suppossedly) in Mexico. But I have lived in a border town for 13 years, never have i heard about anything happening in real life. I got my band in Mexicali, I am still in one peice and very happy with the results.
  25. We are a military family too! They haven't been selling out as quickly on base. I'll have hubby check on base to see if there is one tomorrow. I've been wanting one too, but my son said he wanted to get it for me, he's so sweet. But because he wants to do that, I don't want to buy it on my own. lol
