Freakin Weekend
I'm with the rest of you. It is much easier during the week! I know exactly what I'm going to eat and when, but on the weekend is a different story. My teenagers have all kinds of snacks around and it's not always easy to pass it by. I've been doing pretty good, although I did sneak the toppings off a slice of pizza on Saturday. If I stay home on the weekend, I find myself sometimes falling into that old habit of thinking about what I can eat next. Sometimes, though, it's very refreshing to realize I have gone hours without thinking about food at all. And even with weekend "cheating", I'm sure eating a lot less than I used to!

Share your NSV's!!!!!!!!!!
I wore my favorite jeans today, size 26. At least 4 people have commented that it's time to get rid of them. I can take them on and off without unbuttoning them. I used to have a roll that hung over the top of them, but now they are entirely too big! Guess it's time to retire them!

Hi from Minneapolis
Welcome! I think we all go through the nervousness about surgery. It helped me to focus on the preliminary tests and to try to stay in the moment. If I let myself, I'd have been projecting outcomes of all sorts and getting myself in a tizzy. I'm glad you're here! This is a great place for support. Looking forward to getting to know you also. Hang in there!

NA'ers?
Welcome! Glad you're here. If it makes you feel any better, the pain wasn't that bad for me. I don't know if you've had any surgeries before, but in comparison with the children and 2 surgeries (gall bladder and tubal) this was a breeze. I am married to a recovering addict, so I shared my concerns with him about the pain meds. I told him how my pain was, and how often I was supposed to take the meds. He helped me keep track and stay accountable. I only took them them for 2 days, and then 1 more pill on the 3rd day and I was good to go. I wish you much success on your journey!

That's awesome, Gibson! I know that felt good. I now realize how much I was missing out on because I was caught up in that never-ending stream of thoughts about food.

Share your NSV's!!!!!!!!!!
Let's see... 1. I have way more energy. 2. My clothes are fitting loose. Can't wait to get into smaller ones. 3. My co-workers notice and compliment my weight loss. 4. I have wayyyy more time on my hands now. Never realized how much my life centered around food. 5. I have inspired my children to exercise and eat a little healthier.

Fill Dates - How many weeks for you?
I thought mine was 4/16, but it's 4/17. Looks like we're getting filled the same day! I don't mind either. I do still have restriction, although less than I had in the beginning.

Thanks for your input. I'm not doing sugar, bread, Pasta, rice, etc. I'm just very surprised at the carbs in other foods and how they add up. I think I need to count them right now just so I'll be more selective and educate myself on foods I didn't know were high in carbs. Some foods that surprised me as far as amount of carbs: aspartame, milk, veggie soup, bananas, other fruit, and grits. Grits shouldn't be a surprise really. But the banana is what really floored me. 28 grams of carbs!

Thanks! I will definitely try to increase the calories and decrease the carbs. What is normal/recommended for protein and carb grams? I think my doc said 60 grams of protein a day, but he didn't say anything about carbs.

Weekly Exercise Thread 3/10
I haven't been able to walk at the walking track yesterday or today. I have heel spurs and they really hurt from those 2 days straight of walking around that concrete track. I decided to rest for 2 days, at least from walking. I'll do 20 minutes on the exercise bike tonight.

Delicious slow cooker recipe....and only three ingredients...
I tried this tonight, but I didn't put it in the slow cooker. I seasoned, then browned the chicken breasts in a skillet with canola oil. Put them all back in the pan and added the rotel and let it simmer about 30-45 minutes. The kids loved it! I ate the shredded up chicken and some tomatoes, but no rice for me yet. But it was really easy and good. Thanks!

So here's the average from FitDay for the past 6 days: Average Calories/day: 647 Average Fat grams/day: 25 Average Protein grams/day: 49 Average Carb grams/day: 61 Not at all what I thought it was going to be. I'm interested to hear how many of each y'all are getting? Who's counting?

Confession: I ate 2 fish sticks last night that my daughter left uneaten. JaxBandster: Thank you so much for reminding me about that site. I used it a couple of years ago. I went on today to log my food for the last week (still not finished), but I was appalled at the amount of carbs I was eating! Yesterday I was at 1000 calories (highest since surgery) but I had 111 grams of CARBS!!!!! I didn't realize bananas, milk, and veggie Soup had so many carbs!

Stuck at 17 pounds!!!
I'm stuck, too. No weight loss for several days. I started counting calories today just to see where I'm at. I agree with everyone else. I think my body is holding on to whatever it can! We will all probably break loose at the same time and the pounds will start dropping! Now, pass the ice cream! LOL

Fill Dates - How many weeks for you?
8 weeks after surgery for me. I have no idea why so long.
