  1. Doesnt your doctor have you on 2 days of liquids?
  2. Way to go Mary!!! Thats great. Maybe at next meeting you will have to give us a demonstration...lol., The scale says I am at a standstill. I am going to go get a fill Friday. Everyone here says that on my size band the 1st fill doesnt do much restriction, so I figured I will get it out of the way and I should be safe on vacation.
  3. Hi Edie, I was a lurker for quite awhile. I always enjoyed reading about the "oldtimers" or "experienced bandsters". All of you helped me make my decision. When they changed the format here, it seemed I lost alot. I dont see posts from you,Wheetsin,or Carlene anymore! Maybe I am not looking on the right threads. You have been an inspiration. I look forward to losing and having energy again also. Thanks so much!!!
  4. I didnt tell my primary care doctor until 2 weeks after banding. I didnt need his approval for my insurance to pay. He can be short and abrupt and I didnt want to listen to him. I have heard people say that their doctor didnt want them to do it, because once they get in better health and off of their meds they dont need their primary care doctor as much. At 52 I felt like I was running out of time to do anything to make a difference. What happens after you stop taking the diet meds???
  5. I know someone in Springfield Missouri that had both done at same time. This was very recently.
  6. I wish I could have done this before the excess weight ruined my knees, feet and back.
  7. I had sooo many delays along the way, it didnt click for me until I had the surgery date. Then it really clicked several days before actual surgery. Good Luck.
  8. And I never thought about it I was so nervous. Wish they would have!
  9. I had a breast biopsy several years ago and had a stitch like that on 1 end. I tried to pull it. It wouldn't come out and now that end of my scar is bumped up and is still red. Leave it be.
  10. Try a heat pad on your chest, shoulder or upper back. That helped me.
  11. I thought I saw somewhere a breakfast cookie someone made. Had protein in it. I cant find it anywhere. Along with my protein shake I sometime like something to chew. Anyone have a recipe for something to fit that??? Thanks
  12. Mermaidpuppy...I have followed your thread since your cancellation appt. THATS GREAT YOU HAVE LOST THE DESIGNATED 14LBS!!!!!!! YEAH!!! Goodluck on the 7th, the pre-op was worse for me than anything else!! Take care...........
  13. SWEETY......Look how close you are to ONE-DERVILLE!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Did you check on Tallgrass in Topeka? I was going to go with them. But, a Shawnee Mission Hosp got approval for my insurance before Tallgrass could. I have also heard of a Dr in Denver on here that has a good price also. Goodluck....it is a bumpy journey due to insurance!
  15. Mine is from initial Psych eval. Which just happens to be my highest ever.
  16. Our Doc here had no bowel prep, because doing liquids for 2 days pre-op ELIMINATES the problem!!!! pun intended LOL
  17. I know that Medicare covers lapband, I dont know about Medicaid. Look around on this site, there are 7 hospitals in Illinois that are Medicare approved facilities. The hospital must be certified as a Center of Excellence. If you dont find your answer here call one of the hospitals and talk to their Bariatric Department and ask them. I know it is frustrating goodluck. Bariatric Surgery
  18. Sorry cant help you about the steps though.
  19. I am 52 and married. My husband surprisingly was a big help. A 10 year old can help with whatever you will need. I am retired, but I wouldnt have wanted to go back to work before 1 week. The day of surgery I was groggy and came home and tried to nap. The phone kept me awake but I was fine. I took my pain meds for about 3 days. Most of the pain was from the gas settling in my chest and upper back. You will be able to cook, but it wouldnt hurt to have some things in the freezer to get you by for a few days. I was surprised that it wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. Hope that helps, I know everyone is different and heals at a different pace.
  20. When we scramble eggs at our house we use a couple spoons lowfat cottage cheese. No milk or water. You get more protein that way too,and there good.
  21. I had left side pain for about 2 weeks. I assume it is because that is where the band is actually on my stomach. I was banded 8-8-07. The growling noises went away about at the 2 week point. Everything has to re-adjust itself, its been all moved around. I have little restriction right now unless I eat too much and then it hurts. They say you dont get a lot of restriction until you start getting fils.
  22. What a transformation......Congratulations on your loss!!!!!
  23. I am supposed to be in menopause,no period since first of year, last weekend guess what?? period,oh joy
  24. told me I could swim 2 weeks post op,as long as incisions were closed. They were and steristrips had come off (staples out at 7 days) so I have swimmed everyday since then. I immediately come in and wash with antibacterial soap, just as a precaution tho.
