  1. I was banded a week and a half ago. Saturday I started running fever. Monday I saw the doc, he ordered tests. Diagnosis: kidney infection. Has anyone else out there in band land experienced a kidney infection post surgery (like within a week of surgery)? I won't hear from the culture until Monday so I don't know which bacteria has caused my problems. I'm worried.
  2. Hi, all. I'm having pre-op tomorrow! Surgery is December 12. I, too, am getting nervous, asking myself alot of questions (like did I REALLY try to diet???; is this REALLY necessary????). My head says this is the smart thing to do; my heart says I'm committed; and my gut is nervous as hell!
  3. That's the way my doctor reacted. It really hurts your feelings, doesn't it?
  4. I'm scheduled for the 12th. Getting nervous and anxious!!!!
  5. How long before you returned to work? What's the total time for recovery? :ranger:
  6. I'm curious about how many days recovery before returning to work? :ranger:
  7. Thanks guys. My dh and I discussed it this morning. We feel the same---why try another diet, possibly lose, then gain back plus some (that's my pattern). thanks!
  8. I visited my primary care physician today to get her blessing for my lap band surgery. She believes I'm a "poster child" for the procedure but wants me to try one more diet....with drug assistance (topamax pm and adderall am). The diet is very simple...protein 4 times a day with moderate meals Monday through Friday. weekends free eating. I'm pretty disappointed as I was quite psyched about getting her clearance for surgery. It's my choice: diet or lap band. What would you do? 215 lbs and frustrated! :rain:
  9. Hi! I just joined the site yesterday. Thinking seriously about the band. It's great to see you all feel it's been a positive thing. I told hubby today I feel really guilty about getting banded because I ought to be able to push away from the table and STOP eating so much. Is that normal?
  10. I have a very stressful job and unfortunately have become a real stress eater. The most unfortunate thing is that I give in to my cravings (mostly chocolate). I really want to lose weight and keep it off. Has anyone had lab-band surgery with similar problems? And has the lap band helped? :ranger:
