  1. Julie, I would love to meet! Send me an email, think you can see it in my profile? We can exchange number and meet:)! I really appreciate this. I lived in Gilroy for a while in my younger years and my Father still does. I use to live off Day Road. I drove over there a few weeks ago and almost did not recognize the area. Downtown is looking very nice, lots of changes. Email (just in case) Suzanne408@sbcglobal.net
  2. Good morning Everyone, Quick question? Is it OK to swim 3 weeks post op? I went swimming with my son yesterday and felt a little strange. I think it is probably in my head no pain, just felt like things where moving :embarassed:.
  3. My Dr required that you have 3 months cig free. I tried Webutrin and it helped me cut back, but never stop. I am going to try the other two meds listed above. I think I didn't want to stop because I was afraid of gaining weight and I was trying to lose the 10% Dr required. To much pressure ! I can tell you one thing though, after surgery my chest was hurting more then anything! It was allot of pain and if I had to do it again, I would make more of an effort to stop.
  4. Mermaidpuppy, it took me like 8 months. I would eat a package of organic oatmeal for breakfast, lean cuisine or weight watchers, whatever was on sale that week. And only snacked at dinner. Like when I was cooking for my family I would take bites here and there. Probably was not good, but it helped. I would never sit down and have dinner. I would try to drink at least on protein drink a day if I got hungry between meals. I tried slim fast at one point to replace a meal, but felt hungry soon after. A self made protein drink seemed to work better for me and the oatmeal in the am really helped. It was hard as you know what! I wonder too why your Dr wants you to replace two meals? The more I read on this web sight, the more I relies that each Dr has his own way of doing things. It sounds like your Dr sabotaged you . As much as I don't like Kaiser they where pretty upfront on what they expected before surgery. I took a Lasik Water Pill and Potassium Pill the day before my preop appointment and the day of. I also took one the day before surgery late evening. I know it probably was not the best thing, but you know how it goes. At my preop appt I was 5lbs under my goal weight, my Dr told me that if I gained more then 2lbs the day of surgery he would cancel it! Hmmm. I was to scared to get a last meal in:). I think losing that weight before surgery was the easy part. I am having trouble with what I am suppose to eat and not right now. I know you can do this and wish you the best,
  5. I live in San Jose California. I was starting to feel a little lonely with not knowing if anyone was from here. I was banded 7/31/07 with Dr Hahn from Fremont Kaiser. I was doing good on the second stage diet for the first few days. Sad to say I am back to eating normal foods. Does anyone know of a good Support Group not to far from me? Also, is there somewhere on the web or could you send me a good 1,2,3 stage diet plan? The one I have from Kaiser is pretty basic and boring. Thanks!
  6. Mermaidpuppy, I was banded 7/31/07 and my Dr required a 10% weight loss. I had to lose like 38lbs and I didn't think I could do it. I know people say all the time that if they can do it, so can you. But trust me, if I can lose weight anyone can. I am the most undisciplined person in the world. I would do good for a few days and then MC Donald's fries would scream my name. I felt like I had betrayed a friend by not eating badly after a few days. You can do this. To make matters worse I was due to start my monthly curse the day of surgery. I knew that I would have water weight and took a water pill to help. It did, like 10-12 pounds worth. I know this was probably not good, nor am I suggesting you do the same, but I was desperate. I had worked really hard to lose weight and was not going to let nothing stop me from being banded. I wish you all the luck, Jennifer
  7. TracyinKs, Thank you! You are just what I needed. I know I was freaking myself out and needed someone to tell me to chill out. I am just going to take a deep breath and start over in the morning. ~Jennifer PS. You look Marvelous Darling. Keep up the good work.
  8. Anyalee, yes, I lurked all the time. I use to read all the post about what I am going thru, but now that I am actually going thru it I can't find anything that relates. Figures. I never thought I would be one of these people in my situation. I told myself that I would not do wrong by my band and here I sit. I wish you all the luck, Jennifer
  9. Thank you all for you replies. I hear what you are saying. I feel better knowing I am not alone in this rut I'm in. I was so embarrassed to tell anyone about this but you all are so kind and understanding I will not hesitate to post my problems anymore. I heard about fit-day and signed up awhile ago. I have never used it but am willing to try. If my band did slip, what would be the signs? Could I ask my Surgeon for a Xray or scan to check? Uuuuh! I would hate to call him and tell him what I have been doing. He was trying so hard to talk me into having the Gastric Bypass and not to positive about Banding. I don't want to here from him I told you so. I just feel like if I could find out for sure that I didn't mess it up, it would be a wake up call and a positive new beginning. I can do this, I know I can. Also, does anyone know a good 1,2,3 stage diet plan? The one I have is not to informative. Thank you again, Jennifer
  10. I know that this is a little off, but how did you know that your band had slipped? I was banded 7/31/07 and shamefully started eating regularly 4-5 days post-Op. ~Jennifer
  11. I was banded 7/31/07 and also could eat as you about 4-5 days out. I have the same questions running threw my brain. Hopefully things will get better with some feels for both of us. ~Jennifer
  12. :ranger: Hello Everyone, My name is Jennifer and I live in San Jose California. I was banded 7/31/07. This is my first post but, I have been lurking for sometime. I am ashamed that I have to have my first post be with this problem. I am so embarrassed that I don't even know where to start:phanvan. I was doing pretty good preOp with losing weight. Kaiser in Northern California requires you to lost 10% of you body weight. I did, with a few pounds to spare. PostOp I did pretty good with the stage 2 diet, sad to say that it only lasted 3 to 4 days before I had my first episode. Out of habit I took a bite of meat that got stuck and out of pure panic I drank Water to try to make it go down. In those few long moments I forgot everything I had read about what to do and not to do. Eventually it came up. I have had 2 more episodes like this, but i didn't drink anything to try to wash it down :biggrin1:. I am eating like before, not bad stuff, but stuff I am not suppose to, whole grain bread, rice, meat, ect. It was like the first few days postOp I was so careful about what I eat and drank. I was so proud of myself and hopeful about losing weight. I don't know what happen and I feel like a complete failure!! What if I messed this whole thing up? What if I made my band slip? What if this is not going to work for me? I know I have to get back on track, get back in the right state of mind. I went threw so much to have this done and now I am just throwing it all away. What is wrong with me? Do you think that I may have made my band slip? What would be the signs? Oh, I am so afraid I may have screwed this up. I know this is up to me, I know I can make this work. I just need some one to help me get back on track. What do I do from here? How do I start with starting over? I wish I could go back to day one of PostOp and do things right. :think:think:think:think Thanks, Jennifer :help:
