I am a United Healthcare patient in Kansas City waiting for approval on getting lapband surgery with Dr Hoehn at Shawnee Mission Medical Ctr. The hospital and the local United Healthcare office reached a verbal agreement to sign a new contract prior to the termination date of April 12, 2007. Because of a separate,unrelated contract dispute between United Healthcare's corporate office and Shawnee Mission Medical Center sister hospital in Chicago. United Healthcare will not allow it's local office to sign the agreement. We as individual members can only make our healthcare changes once a year. As you know enrollment is not open now. That leaves many of us without our chosen doctors and specialists in the middle of the year. THIS IS NOT FAIR to UHC members in the Kansas City area. Your city may be next. I am calling on all my lapband friends here to help send a message to United Healthcare. Please go to the following link and fax or mail a copy of the letter there to United Healthcare. I think it would be very hard for them to do their job. My son will be going back for his third deployment. I very much support the soldiers, I dont know that I support why they are there.

BC/BS of Minn is thru my husbands work. Dr's ofc told me this week that they want 12 months doctor supervised diet. Also, was told they wont pay up front or approve up front. You have to pay for it then submit the bill and records to them. They review then decide if they will pay.

Thanks for the responses on the loose skin issue. I was hoping to be told different. LOL But I have been this weight for some time now, I know I dont have the elasticity I used to. I did read a thread on here by one of the younger, alot younger girls and she did the tummy tuck. Maybe there will be a medical reason I need one and insurance will pay for it. haha..Thanks girls

I just read this from beginning to end. The caretaker sounds like a golddigger and I am sure that is what most people that know Mr P will think of her as. I cant believe that Mr P didnt even let the brother know his sister had died. Thats just not right. Some people need closure when someone dies and this man was denied that. It was said previously, but I will say again, you are not stopping your husband from being friends with this man. He can do lunch with him, that doesnt mean you must go. I am sorry you lost a friend. But she is without pain now.

My sister had been living away from home for over a year. She had lost a lot of weight...came to town..walked in the door at my Mom and Dads, and the first thing Mom said to my sister was "Doesnt look like you've lost that much weight." My sister started crying, she was ready to leave. I couldnt believe she said that to her. WELL...if you've lost 87lbs its about time you got rid of some size 30's! Good for you.. thats awesome. I FOR ONE AM PROUD OF YOU!!

Don't completely give up. More insurance plans are going to have to start covering this. It is being proven, by all the results that is NOT experimental. You may also get a tip on here that helps things work out somehow for you. I was stopped in my tracks a year ago (different situation that caused it than yours) I know how depressing and frustrated it can be. Good luck and take care.
