I am considering surgery, what's your pros and cons?
for me the surgery has been basically all pros, no real cons. What I might call cons are that I can't pig out anymore, don't go to buffets anymore, can't have huge meals. So no real cons pros...I fell better physically and mentally, I have a new relationship with food, a little bit is satisfying, I look better...basically any other positive thing associated with loosing weight I would defitately recomment the sleeve to anyone thinking about it

What percentage of people gain the weight back ?
first...who told you that? It was probably someone who doesn't know much about the surgery second...whether you gain or loose weight is all up to YOU and how well you stick to your program.

How do you puree your food? blender, processor, mash? need help
first...talk to your nutritionist if you have questions pureed foods don't have to be completely liquid, textures like cottage cheese and oatmeal are already that consistancy I never pured anything, just mashed them up with a fork.

RNY or DS?
find a good surgeon and talk to them about it. The problem with asking people about one vs the other is that each of us can only experience one of them so we can't tell you what the other one was like. Make an appointment with a surgeon and ask them to explain in detain both procedures to you, the pros and cons of each, the side effects of each, describe your lifestyle to them and ask them what they think would be better

Nervous
Good luck. Yes everybody has different experiences and yes some people had a rough time. if it makes you feel better I will tell you about my experience. Of course I was a nervous wreck in the hospital. When I woke up from the surgery I was groggy, and my throat felt dry and my nose was uncomfortable from the oxygen tube. But that was it. I had no pain. Later in my room when I was awake I felt, well not great, but probably as good as anyone could feel after an involved surgery. I had no problem walking around. Of course there was some pain in the incisions, especially the main one above my belly button but it was bearable. I didn't need any pain meds, not even tylenol. At home once all the hospital stuff was out of my system I was still in very little pain, just incision pain and again, it was tolerable. I did have to sleep at a 45 degree angle for about a week because laying flat put pressure on the incisions and that did hurt. But over all I had a great surgery and recovery. Never had to take a single pain pill Good luck with your process

First meal out since surgery
I always check the menu before I go somewhere too. If you're still on soft foods most places usually have soup or chili that should be fine. Also for me if someone asks why I'm not eating more if they don't know I had the surgery I always say that I had an upset tummy earlier and just want something small to eat.

The Gas Topic?
people fart, it's life but personally I never had gas pains right after surgery. and I don't have any more gas than I did before surgery

Significant Other Support
you are awesome for wanting to support her! I would say be free with the compliments. This is a tough journey and we go through a lot of this. There were days when I was feeling lousy and then my mom would say something about how she's proud of the progress I've made and it helped so much and remember that a lot of times people get emotional at times. there were many days, even months after surgery, where I would just sit and cry for no real reason. There were also days when my stomach was unhappy or I felt sore or something else and I would cry and say that I regretted the surgery but it was a temporary thing and I was generally fine a little while later, but be there just to hug her and giver her the shoulder to cry on, hug her and tell her that she's just having a bad day and you are proud of what she's doing. I can tell you what NOT to do based on my husband.. - don't constantly talk about how hot your friend looks in that one outfit, and how it makes her ass look good - if she asks you if you can tell if she's lost weight don't just shrug your shoulders and say eh it's hard to tell I see you everyday - when she comes to you crying about how she regrets the surgery and she's depressed and uncomfortable don't say geez this is getting old -

Could You Repeat That Order?
I do to avoid fast food but if I end up there i get either a small chili at wendys, or a 4 piece nuggets at mcdonalds. Usually it's also very easy to order from the kids menu at fast food places too

HELP! Surgery in a week, and I'm getting a COLD!
there are a ton of home remedies but none of them actually work as a cold is a virus. Best to load up on the Vitamin C, curl up with a warm blanket and some hot tea and chicken Soup. you could also call your surgeon and mention it to them just to see what they will say

Purée Diet Recipes
boil some cauliflower in some salted Water until it is fork tender. You can use a potato masher to mash it up so it's all mush and add a wedge or two of laughing cow cheese mashed up avocado with some lime juice and salt is also very tasty one thing I really liked too was cottage cheese with some tomato sauce, garlic powder, and mozzarella heated up so the cheese was melty i would also put some dried red Beans into the slow cooker with enough water to cover them and cook it all day until they were mush (you need to add water periodically)
