  1. You're definately not alone. But you can do it, you can get back on track.
  2. I'm technically Jewish, but our christmas tree goes up the day after thanksgiving and we have lights on our apartment balcony
  3. no, it removes today what would have come out of your body tomorrow. You're not really doing anything for yourself
  4. It really depends on your body. Some people find they can tolerate it post op, some can't. I would say once you're cleared for all foods give it a try and see how it sits. I don't suck lemons, but I do suck on limes, and I loooove Franks hot sauce, I put that stuff on everything and I'm fine. The only thing I experience is that I have to have a little bit of something in my tummy before I enjoy a lime or the acid feels a little weird
  5. yes, I was sleeved on Sept 2. Including my preop diet I have lost 120 lbs
  6. you're not going to look sick, you're going to look like you lost weight
  7. its one thing if that's what naturally happened for you, but I personally just find it odd for someone to want to loose so little weight on purpose
  8. Sorry if this comes off rude but.... I've been here for a little while and have read a lot of topics. Some things I've seen have really surprised me. I'm referring to topics where people ask questions that seem so basic that their surgeon or NUT should have explained to them on day 1. For example, I've seen people ask how much Water they're supposed to drink or how much Protein they need to get. Personally I had to meet with my NUT several times and sign papers saying that they explained everything to me, I got pamphlets and booklets and printouts and powerpoint presentations on what to eat and when along with meal ideas. This was all before I was given a date for surgery. I'm just wondering if people simply aren't doing enough research ahead of time or if the doctors and nutritionists are dropping the ball.
  9. They have 100 cAlorie muscle milk now, and it is very tasty...to me anyways i just tasted the 100 calorie muscle milk as well it actually has no sugar and its the best I've tasted. However its very expensive, it runs a little over $3.00 for 14 oz, any suggestions where to get it cheaper try amazon, walmart, Vitamin shoppe sometimes has coupons
  10. some people like the clear Isopure some hate them. I couldn't stand them. your nutritionist should have told you ways to get in Protein. this early on you should be on liquids
  11. I'm sorry but if you want to loose only 10lbs a month why are you considering surgery?
  12. oh man, first of all, I feel bad that you had to go through that as a child. I hope you are able to still have your surgery now I did have my gallbladder out about 12 years ago and that had no impact on my surgery
  13. I'm the same, I didn't loose any hair but my nails are a mess
  14. I would just recommend to actually write out a list and bring it with you. I'm the kind of person who has a mental list going in but when I get there I forget half of what I wanted to say
  15. Hey guys, I had my sleeve on Sept 2 and the last few weeks my nails have been terrible, they split and peel. Anyone have this happen? Are there any products you used to help?
  16. I would suggest calling each company and talking to a representative to see what they cover
  17. I also have a freezer full of Popsicles for when I feel hungry.
  18. oh wow that sounds scary. I learned a similar way not to drink a lot before going to bed. I lay down and had what I thought would be just a hiccup...nope, had to change the sheets
  19. everyone is different but my recovery was good. In the hospital I could get up and walk around with very little discomfort at home I camped out in our recliner, going from sitting to standing, or standing to sitting put pressure on the incisions and that hurt some, especially the main incision. And laying flat put a lot of pressure the first week and a half or so so I slept in the recliner at a 45 degree angle. The biggest complaint I had was back pain and that lasted a month-ish. But I never had to take a single pain pill, not even a tylenol
  20. It's never too late to get back on track. I got myself some three ounce bowls to eat out of and it has helped a lot with my portions. And definately eat slowly. A lot of times I eat while doing something else like chrocheting....do a few stitches, take a bite. It has helped me eat slower and I get satisfied quicker without feeling too full
  21. hang in there! My ekg came back abnormal too and I had to go for an echo but that came back normal. Because it's basically elective surgery the surgeons are generally over cautions and check everything. Before my surgery I must have gone to a dozen different doctors. i'm sure you;ll be fine and will have the surgery. Personally I'm kind of glad I had to go through a lot of stuff pre op because it helps me stay on track. I keep thinking to myself, "I didn't go through all this hell to mess it up with bad choices now"
  22. I still get cravings too, I still love food. Generally when I have a craving the first thing I do is have something to drink, usually something sweet like some crystal light or something. A lot of times that makes the craving go away
  23. being obese taught me to hate myself, to hide myself, to be embarrassed of myself. It taught me to not believe any compliment my husband ever gave me, it taught me to sit back and just take in the snide comments about my weight. Being obese taught me that moving around hurt and that the best thing was just to sit at home in front of the tv I've lost 120lbs and I've noticed some changes and my family has told me they've noticed changes. I don't hate myself as much but I'm still self conscious. I'm more outgoing, I don't shy away from walking or going places that require walking. My family has told me that they've notices that I just seem happier in general
  24. congrats and hope everything goes well!
