How to get started? (apologies in advance for rambling)
Hi there, I think you should go for it ! I read through your entire email, and it sounds alot like me. I, too, have been up and down with my weight my entire life. I have tried countless diet plans-nutrisystem/weight watchers/diet workshop, etc. I have always lost, but never maintained. I was banded on May 23, and I can honestly say that it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I don't regret for a day having this done. Every last thing I had to do to get approved, the surgery, the recovery, the PBing, ALL WORTH IT. I have never been happier, and never have more successful than with my band. I am so proud of what I have accomplished, and you can be too. Don't give up !! Your doc will find a way to get you approved. My BMI was under 40, but after a sleep study, it was determined that I had sleep apnea. Also, I had borderline high blood pressure. So all in all, getting the approval wasn't so bad. I began my journey Feb 22, and was lucky to have my surgery in only 3 months. I never ever ever regret what I did and so happy I took the time to finally think of MYSELF. Feel free to email me anytime. I just felt so compelled to answer your post. Good luck with whatever decision you make....

Curious about my new band and bread
BREAD! NO WAY ! NOT EVEN TOASTED ! Jack, did you ever consider going into stand-up???????????????

can anyone halp
actually, I was banded May 05, and what is happening to you lately is exactly what I'm going through. I met with my doc last week and told her that I can basically only get fluids and maybe yogurt down in the morning; a Soup for lunch. Around 6 is when I can start eating solids. She explained that the band loosens as the day goes on, as the Fluid collects during the night as you are laying down. It is also worse when you have your period. Hope this eases some of your anxiety. Do you know how much fill you have? Do you feel as if you are eating enough? Congrats on your weight loss ! I think 60 pounds is fantastic. Don't be so hard on yourself.

May Surgery Dates
Hi Debbie, I was also banded in May (5/23/2005), and was looking to see how other may bandsters were doing. I think I have done well-just hitting my 50 pound weight loss goal. Things are starting to slow a little bit for me, but still the best decision I have ever made for myself. How have things been for you?

I Did It !!!!!
I did it ! I hit my first goal. I weighed myself this morning and I officially lost 50 pounds ! (51 to be exact) Not much longer before I get to my next goal: to weigh under 200. Right now I am at 203, so hopefully in two weeks time you will hear me screaming with delight again. Unfortunately, the following goal is to weigh less than my husband (that has been my dream for the past 12 years). He weighs 185, so I've got a bit to go. Thanks everyone for listening and for all your support !!!

5 weeks post-op too soon for 1st fill?
UH..........hmmmmm.....I just checked, and I had my first fill 2 weeks after surgery. It was only .5cc. I then had another fill of 1.0cc 4 weeks after surgery. I did just fine, and I think you will too

Time off from work
5 days should be enough. Through in the weekend and you have 7 days of healing !! Who wants to deal with all the short term disability paperwork anyway?

C-Section (Before or After banding)?
I had three C-Sections (1994/1995/1999). I also had THREE hernia repais, all in different places on my tummy, all with very different major scars. The doctor was not concerned about doing my Lap band at all. 5 tiny scars are all I have from THIS surgery. You should be fine..and welcome to LBT !!!
