I am as of today one year out and want to tell you it does get easier.
There are meds to help with the nausea and you should ask your surgeon if you can have them.
I feel that you aren't taking in the necessary nutrition and Water that you need to heal inside with.
If you don't you won't heal as well and if you aren't drinking your Water you will dehydrate and wined up in the hospital to get IV fluids.
These are things you should tell your surgeon about immediately so they can help you.
I struggled with things in the beginning but as the time passed things got better. I got healthier.
The best of luck to you and give your surgeon a call tomorrow and see what they say about how you are feeling and what they can do for you until your appointment.

mamie60 reacted to angelface811 in Carbonation?
In my pre-surgery program we are given a list of forever no's...carbonation is one of them. I had surgery at one of the top research hospitals in the U.S. Which in itself doesn't ensure success but there program is extremely strict. The doctors in the bariatric program have noticed a "gateway drug" to gaining back weight. Those were their words not mine. They said those RNY patients go back to drinking carbonated beverages. Obviously from some of the prior posts some people have gone back to drinking those things and have been fine. For myself, however, I plan to stay away.

I have an awesome bran muffin recipe that works wonders in keeping my system moving without over doing the carb intake. I'm a year out and have tried ALOT of different options. For me, chemicals are not a solution. I'm happy to post the Bran Muffin recipe if anyone would like it:)

mamie60 got a reaction from Trayjay33 in Amazing!
Hi everyone,
It will be 8 weeks this Tuesday since I had my Roux-en-Y surgery. Today I got on the scale and I weigh less than 300 pounds! I haven't been less than 300 pounds for 10 years I was almost in tears when I saw that number 298! I feel so blessed and lucky to have had the surgery done!
I had a very smooth recovery and I am a rule follower so I have never vomited I've never had dumping syndrome and I'm a fiend for exercise now. I'm walking 7 miles a day and going to do my first 5K next weekend. Thanks for all of your support and role modeling that you have given me!!
Namaste,
Mamie60

I hit my first stall at 6 weeks. I had lost 50 pounds and then ZERO for three weeks . Yesterday was weigh in day and lo and behold I had lost 6 more pounds! DO NOT weigh everyday once a week is plenty. Stick with it youll lose more.

i have struggled to lose every ounce that i have..it was not easy.
and i started out with a huge BMI at surgery and some have said i am lucky to have lost
as much as i have so far (170+)
i would have preferred to be what most are now ( under 300 or even under 200)
at my journey starting point (336 pounds and 62 bmi)
i am now where some are starting out (pound/bmi wise) and i know what
it took for me to get to where i am now.....i hope you realize from a bigguns stand
point (aka me), how lucky some of you actually are to be where you are now..
keep going
eat right, drink a lot, exercise and stay positive
just because the scale is not moving as fast as you want does not mean the WLS
you have is not working.....it will catch up dont worry.....also judge your success by
inches LOST as that is true/accurate weight loss..
all the best everyone.

mamie60 reacted to winning_by_losing in Eating is no longer fun
I am hoping this feeling never goes away.
I now have to interrupt whatever I'm enjoying to eat, but I don't get enjoyment from it like I used to and to me that is great. If I ever get back to the point where I start enjoying meals, rather than what I'm able to do between the meals, that is when I'll start to worry.

Now I eat to live not live to eat. I always thought that that was hokey. But now it is my reality!
