  1. Welcome tootie! Good luck with your first run.
  2. LOL, I know!!! I've always been accident prone, but usually not this much so close together... Yikes, on the snake spotting!!! At least it was dead, even though you didn't know. LOL, I bet you turned on the turbo speed trying to get away!!!
  3. Hello all! Ya'll are not going to believe what I just did. DS and I were headed out to the car to go to the store. I stepped in a hole and twisted the same ankle I hurt a couple of weeks ago! I am such a klutz!!! Luckily, I don't think I hurt it too bad. It's not really swollen or bruised, but I think I am going to wear my ankle support for a couple of days and ice it. It doesn't hurt unless I rotate it, so I think it's okay. Renewed~ I have done the same thing a time or two and I have learned my lesson! I always eat a little something about 30 minutes before I run and it really helps. Good job though!! I can't even imagine running that long!! Kathy~ Thanks for the advice. My knee hasn't bothered me at all today and I've been in town doing quite a bit of walking already. It seems to only bother me when I run. I will continue to rest and ice it though, I think it really helped last night. To my surprise, my weight this morning actually matched my ticker! YAY!
  4. I weighed too! I don't know how I am going to go without weighing for a whole month!!!
  5. Sugarbean~ Thanks for the tips and thanks for being the voice of reason. I will rest for a few days and see what happens. I did elevate my knee last night and iced it a few times and this morning it feels fine. Thanks again. Mamato3~ Good luck today! Positive self talk is wonderful! It has helped me get through quite a few of my runs. Sending you more positive thoughts.....
  6. By rest, does that mean I have to hold off on my runs for a while or just rest a lot in between?? Can you tell I don't want to hold off on my runs?? I got to thinking, and I very well could have stepped on it wrong or something when I fell and twisted my ankle. I didn't really notice it hurting right then, but that's the only thing I can think of that might have injured me..... BTW, I too am a scale addict and I want in on the challenge too! I don't know how in the world I am going to do it, but I will give it a try!
  7. Okay, I just did what I hoped to be my last day of week 2. I woke up this morning and my knee felt fine, it actually felt normal. So, I go to the gym and start my running. About halfway through my run my knee started hurting. I probably should have stopped, but I ran through it and finished my run. Now, my knee is hurting again. I don't know what to do. It usually bothers me after my runs and some on my off days, but when it's time to run again it feels better. So, I run and then the whole process starts over. I did wear my knee support band today and it seemed to hurt worse. I dunno?? I've never had any knee problems so I don't know what a pulled muscle or ligament would feel like. What do you guys think???? Should I start icing it or applying heat???
  8. I noticed Wednesday, after my run, that it felt a little funny. I didn't really think much about it, but the next day it was still bothering me. I ran again on Friday and it's still kinda acting up. It almost feels like it has a catch in it when I turn it a certain way. It kinda feels stiff if it stays in one place for very long too. I bought a knee support band, so hopefully that will help. Have any of you had any knee problems since starting? I'm definitely worried about it. I love my runs and I would be so upset if a knee injury kept me from running. I finally found something I really enjoy. Whosya~ you've been running a while. Have you had any knee problems since starting??? Mamato3~ ((Hugs)). Please don't feel like a failure. My very first run (day 1 week 1) I only lasted 12 minutes! Please don't be too hard on yourself. You have done such a wonderful job and you have definitely inspired me. It very well could have had something to do with not drinking enough or not having enough food to fuel you. I've never experienced that so I don't really know what to tell you. My advice to you would be to take it slow. Build up to the 20 minutes gradually, if that's what you need to do. I'm sure I will have to. Heck, I had to build up just to be able to do day 1, lol. Seriously, you are an inspiration to us all! Especially to us newbie runners!
  9. Hey bamboobabe! I guess it would depend on where the leak is. If it was in the band itself, which I highly doubt, the band would have to be replaceed. If it's in the tubing, I'm not really sure. If it's where the tubing connects, it might could just be fixed. I don't think I'm losing enough Fluid for it to be in the band itself though. So....I guess we will just wait and see.
  10. WTG Nip! Glad you are losing again. I am down a pound, so I guess I'll updated. Leslie starting weight: 224 current weight: 219 challenge goal weight: 204 pounds to go: 15 Nip starting weight: 185 current weight: 180 challenge goal weight: 173 pounds to go: 7 Sheryl Starting weight: 225.5 Current weight: 224.5 Challenge goal weight: 205 pounds to go: 19.5 Jeannie Starting weight: 201 Current weight:198 Challenge goal weight:180 Pounds to go: 18 Pamela Starting weight: 247 Current weight: 243 Challenge goal weight: 235 Pounds to go: 8
  11. I made a new recipe using the spinach dip. 1 whole wheat/low carb tortilla (med size) 2 tbsp Tostitos spinach dip Roasted Sweet Red Peppers, sliced (in the jar) Shredded cheese of your choice, I used fiesta blend (about 1/3 cup) Just spread spinach dip over tortilla, top with sweet peppers (use as many as you want, only 5 calories for a whole ounce) and shredded cheese and bake at 400 until golden brown and cheese melts. If you wanted, you could also use shredded chicken or another meat. I just had a fill, so half of the recipe was more than enough for me. But even if you ate the whole thing, it's only about 200 calories and 7 net carbs total.
  12. Hi Nina! It varies from person to person. I've been banded since Sept of last year and I have been able to eat bread and pasta. I am just now finally getting some really good restriction and I haven't eaten much bread or pasta lately, mainly because I haven't been all that hungry and I just don't need a lot of it. If I do eat bread or pasta, I try to make sure it is whole wheat or whole grain. It's much more nutritious and still tastes good. Toasted bread will go down much easier than doughy bread will. Try using substitutes for your favorites foods. Like making homemade pizza out of a whole wheat tortilla. Much healthier choice and it will get crispy so it will be easier to handle. You could also use whole wheat english muffins. The possibilities are endless. Get creative and just try out new things. That way you still get the taste of bread, but in a much healthier form. It's really trial and error. You'll quickly learn which food you can tolerate and which ones you can't. Good luck!
  13. Lyn~ Congrats on the 5K!! The one Leslie and I are running is in November too! Good luck with your first run since surgery. I think you are going about it the right way by starting slow. Bonnie~ Of course you would still be accepted here! You are a wonderful asset to this thread and to LBT! The important thing is that you are happy and doing what is right for you. You are always welcome here girlie!
  14. Hmmmm....I thought it showed an air date of 7-30-08. Usually that's how I can tell if it is new or not. Anyway, I agree with Denise...they need to leave it on!!!!
  15. Thanks Kathy! That is funny. I guess it didn't bother me running outside because I ran at a local elementary school and no one was ever there, mainly because it's summer and I typically run late in the evening. If I am being totally honest, it is harder to run outside, for me anyway. Probably because the ground is unlevel and there are hills and such. I will probably still run outside a good bit, but I won't be afraid to do it at the gym if I can't do it outside anymore. I am noticing that my left knee is bothering me just a little. I bought a knee stabilizer tonight, so I'm hoping that will help. It would crush me if I had to stop jogging. I'm loving it and it's been a long time since I have really enjoyed being active. I wonder if the treadmill would be better on the knees???? Renewed~ Girl, your message box is full. I tried to send you a PM and it wouldn't go through, lol. Mine is actually getting pretty close to being full again too. Guess I need to delete too....
  16. Thanks for the tip guys. I will try both. Well, I did something tonight I didn't think I could do. It's been steady raining here since this afternoon, so I didn't get to run outside today. I took my butt to the YMCA and did my running on the treadmill! Luckily there was hardly anyone there. I thought to myself, now would be a good time to see how it goes, so I did it! I was worried about people staring at me and I was paranoid that it would sound and feel like an earthquake when I started running, but it didn't!! I took off my headphones to listen and by golly, it wasn't bad at all! I figured I would be stomping loud like the guy that annoys Bonnie so bad, lol. Anyway, I think I actually did better on the treadmill. I honestly thought I was probably running about 4.0 mph outside but it was more like 4.5 mph. I was pleasantly surprised. I like the fact that it kept me at a steady pace. I know that's a little slow but I will work on speed later. The run was wonderful. My breathing was much better and I had a good stride going. I think I will do another day of week 2 on Sunday and then move on to week 3 Tuesday. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!
  17. Never mind Mac. I looked at my program guide and found it. Didn't it used to come on TLC? Now it comes on DHTH. Anyway, I set it up to record and all is good now.
  18. Good idea Denise! I just got a fill (fingers crossed this is the one) and I haven't even attempted meat yet. I've bought the rotissery (sp???) chickens from wal-mart before, very tasty. I'll have to try that if I have any problems. Thanks for the tip!
  19. Mac, was it a new one? I thought I had my DVR set up to record the new ones....
  20. I made some egg salad a few weeks ago and used the spinach dip! I loved it!! I also used it in deviled eggs instead of mayo....yum! I go through so much spinach dip, it's crazy!!!!
  21. Anyone wear anything to help with the jiggle while running? (Hehe, the word jiggle makes me think of the jello commercials, lol). Okay, back to my post. I have a lot of mid-section jiggle (hehe) and was wondering if there is anything out there, especially for runners, that would help with it. Since I've started running, I've had some rashes under my apron that I usually don't get (sorry if that's TMI). I'm sure it has to do with it rubbing during my runs. Anyone wear anything under clothes that helps with that?
  22. Great!! Sounds like a plan!
  23. Congratulations! I know it must feel wonderful!!
  24. .....because I just got a fill and it's time to buckle down and do this!!!
  25. I've been doing pretty good. I've upped my exercise and I just got a fill this past Tuesday and hopefully I will keep restriction this time. As many of you know, we thought that I might have a leak. Still not sure yet but Leslie is going to keep a close eye on it. I was missing a little over .25cc in a 4 week period....not as bad as last time, so that is reassuring. Bagweaver~ Hang in there. Those dry spells can be very discouraging. Just keep doing your very best and hopefully your plateau will be over soon. Bamboobabe~ Hope you reflux gets better soon.
