  1. ...because I had a weekend full of bad food choices and it's time to get busy and back on track!!
  2. Renewed~ I can't imagine you overcommiting, lol! Seriously, I do know what you mean. That's why I say I may just commit to swimming right now. Just swim as long as I can. I will probably work up to starting the program eventually, but not right now. I just need to get back in the swing of swimming first.
  3. We don't have an outdoor pool at the YMCA here. I think I saw a sign at the indoor pool that had the laps to mile equivalent on it. I don't remember how many made a mile, but I think it was A LOT!! I'll check next time I go. I'm sure the life guards would know though.......
  4. Hey Renewed! I think I am going to shoot for swimming 3 times a week for now. When I start running again, it may be more like 2 times a weeks. I'm not sure if I will follow that program to a T, but thought I would at least give it try. But for now, I may just swim until I have to stop, rest a bit, and repeat until I tire out.
  5. Hey SugarBean! I haven't swam much since I was a kid either. Swimming is A LOT harder than I remember, lol!
  6. Hey Les! I'm doing fine. We didn't swim yesterday but I think we may go tonight, not sure though. I thought about trying the C25K on the elliptical since it's zero impact. I could use my podrunner and speed up and add a little resistance when it's time to run. What do ya'll think??
  7. Mia, that did not sound like fun! I've never given any thought to liquids being a problem either. Glad you are back and doing okay. I had my very first pb yesterday. I ate too fast and boy, that was painful!! I took a sip of drink thinking it would help....NOPE! I pb'ed the drink. I knew better than to drink too, but in the moment I thought it might help. Anyway, lesson learned!
  8. Okay, I found something online for swimming. It's kinda like the couch to 5k but for swimming. I thought I would post it for those who like to swim on off running days. Whosya said swimming was an excellent exercise to do on off running day since it is completely opposite of running. It looks pretty hard but I may give it try. Here is the link --> About.com: http://www.ruthkazez.com/SwimWorkouts/ZeroTo1mile.html
  9. I am missing my scales too! I can't believe I have lasted this long. It's probably a good thing I'm not weighing because I had a weekend of bad food choices. I am back on track today and ready to get busy!
  10. Definitely not TMI.....
  11. Hey Jeannie! I'm glad you posted. Hopefully my knee will clear up soon so I can get back in gear training for our 5K in November. I think we will be ready, even if we had to walk some it, that's okay. I'm really excited about it!! Good luck with week 2!!
  12. I haven't ran since Wednesday! I sure do miss it, but my knee is not ready. I am going to hold off on running until I hear from my doctor Friday and maybe do some swimming until then. Renewed~ Good for you! I'm glad you are listening to your body. Don't worry about having to repeat. I know you will work up to the 25 minutes. If anyone can do it, you can!! Leslie~ I'm glad you got some new shoes. It really does make a world of difference when you have a good pair. I really like my Nike Shox.
  13. Hi Jo Anne! I'm glad you liked the recipe. Good job on your weight loss! You're doing great. Keep up the good work and good luck with your surgery!
  14. Mamato3~ You are doing such a great job! Hope your hips feels better soon. I really missed my run yesterday. I did get some cardio in though. DH, DS, and I went to the YMCA pool yesterday evening and I got some laps in. I forgot swimming was such good cardio! It seemed to tire me out more than running. I guess because I'm using different muscles. Anywho, great workout and it didn't bother my knee or leg at all! It bothered my ankle a little, which is weird because it has felt fine. Nothing bad though. I enjoyed it and hopefully burned a lot of calories. Keep up the good work everyone!!!
  15. Just did it! Renewed my subscription! Ready to start using it again!
  16. Okay, I've got to start wearing mine again. I usually wear it on the days I run but that's about it and not always all day. My subscription is up tomorrow I think? I need to renew it and make myself wear it again. It is a wonderful tool and it's crazy that I haven't been using it! I, georgia girl, vow to get up tomorrow and put my bodybugg on...and leave it on!!! Actually, I am going to put it on NOW!!!
  17. Renewed, I agree with Kathy. I say do the run first or space your video and run out more. Your body may just need a little break to catch up. Get you some rest girl and slow down some. A day's rest may be all you need to revive yourself. Take care!!
  18. Gloucester~ Find something you LOVE doing! For a long time, I would go to the gym, get on the elliptical and do some weights. In all honesty, I got bored with that pretty quickly and stopped all together for a while. I had seen the Couch to 5K thread a lot and never bothered attempting because I didn't think I could do it. Well, one day I was reading the thread and a very close LBT friend of mine inspired me to give it a try. Well, I did and I LOVE IT!!! Who knew??? I now see exercise very differently than before. Before, I dreaded it and now I look forward to it. Find something you love to do, whether it be swimming, dancing, aerobics, walking, running, biking, or whatever! It doesn't matter what you do as long as you are moving and enjoying it! I'm telling you....finding something you enjoy doing will change your view on exercise. PS, listen to the angel. Get up and start moving! You can do it!!
  19. Thanks Kathy! You have been a big help. I really appreciate it!! I'm so glad your knees haven't given you any problems while running!
  20. It feels like the pain is more in front, but I don't know. I haven't thought about using bengay. I may get some tonight and try it. I really don't think it's serious, so I'm just going to take it easy a couple of more days and maybe try jogging outside again in a few days. Bonnie~ I love your post! Kudos to you for making a change NOW!
  21. Thanks Kathy, it does help. Come to think of it, it started hurting right after the first run on the treadmill. I'm not 100% sure it is my actual knee that is bothering me because it doesn't hurt to bend it at all. In fact, I squat down to the floor with no problem. It hurts more to lift my leg up (like lifting to take a step) but it hurts around the knee area. Like, if I am sitting down in a chair and try to lift my left leg, I can only lift it a little. It's strange. I kinda pushed on my knee last night and the area that is tender is right below my left knee cap, to the right just a little (toward the inside). Do you know where the IT band is? I will definitely ask the doctor about where to run. Glad your sugar levels have been good. That's great! Les~ Love you too girl! I can always count on you too!
  22. Whosya~ I LOVE reading your posts!!! Your passion for fitness really inspires me. Even while you are out of town, you always make time to exercise (A LOT, lol). I don't think you realize just how inspiring you are. You rock!!!
  23. Bonnie~ I totally agree! This is probably the best support thread yet!! Very dedicated people here! Congrats on your 20 minute run! I can't even imagine being able to do that, but seeing everyone's progress gives me hope! You rock Bonnie!! I am totally missing my scales!! I feel like I have lost some weight and I want to know soooo bad! Labor day is a long time away. Hope I can stay away......
  24. Hey Les! My knee feels better today. Not 100%, but much better. I think that's a good sign that nothing serious is wrong. You know, I was thinking....my knee didn't start bothering me until after I switched from running outside to the treadmill. Maybe that has nothing to do with it, but it's just a thought I had. Not really sure which one would be better on the knees???
  25. WTG Kathy! That is a pretty big increase of running time. Sounds like you are getting pretty good! Keep up the good work. Hope you and DH have a good date night!!!
