maxcimax reacted to TakeitorSleeveit in Feeling left out
My local Chinese buffett has peel and eat shrimp on the salad bar. I have found that my new tummy is very very happy with shrimp. And it's lean and healthy.

Are you taking an acid blocker? How about something for nausea? If not, call your surgeon and ask for them.
Have you tried sugar free ice pops? They helped me get my fluids in. Have you tried drinking other things besides Water? Different temperature Water? Bottled water? Decaf tea? Vitamin Water Zero or G2?
I could not get plain water down for months. I mixed Apple juice with water. It had sugar from the juice but I got my fluids in.
You may be dehydrated by now if you are not drinking. Please call your surgeon for advice to get your fluids in. If you have headaches, fatigue, dizziness, dark urine go to the ER for IV fluids. Dehydration is no joke.
Good luck....baby steps.

here goes:
1- you just had major surgery
2- you had most of your stomach removed
3- the nerves have been cut so you cannot depend on a full feeling
4- you should be measuring your foods and don't ingest more than you are allowed
5- the healing process affects how much you can consume and it WILL get better
6- hunger can be in your head
7- hunger can be thirst
8- refer to your plan and hang in there
You can do this, the beginning is tough cos you are also recovering from surgery but you can do this!! You will be glad you did!

Cream Soups were on my post-op liquid list as approved. You probably can't eat enough of it to make the calories be too high.

I am 17 days post op, and I am sitting at my desk having creamy broccoli Soup as we speak. Just take it slow, and be like the beer commercials used to say " Know when to say when".

Don't eat much and balance it out by cutting back the rest of the day. If you know you going out to lunch, have Protein Shakes the rest of the day.

Just eat about half the Soup and you should be fine.

maxcimax got a reaction from TealSister in I WANT TO DRINK!
I sip Water at a meal. Even then it's probably only 4 or 5 sips. And the guy at the next table? If he's overweight (even just a little bit) tell him you have had bariatric surgery & he might give it a try! I know, I have a totally warped sense of humor. I am upfront with telling people I have a sleeve & I've haven't had any ugly comments. Eveyone has been supportive & even curious. I give them my surgeon's number if they need it.

You'll be glad you did it. Congratulation on the weight loss. BTW, I only sip Water with meals and hardly any at all.

That's about normal I'm 3 weeks out of surgery and on my second stage well I'm supposed to but I still can't hold down foods so I'm only consuming less than 600 and I'm 3 weeks out of surgery don't get frustrated were all different and it just takes time you'll get their

Keep sipping away at the liquids and Protein (yogurt, etc.). If I remember correctly, my mouth was dry early out, too. I wouldn' t worry unless you aren't getting fluids down. Keep working on it. It gets better every day as the swelling goes down.
Also, stay off of the scale. You are still swollen and healing from surgery.
I don't know what resources are available in Egypt, so your surgeon's office would be a great place to start for suggestions about Protein sources. I do know yogurt is a good place to start.
Keep us posted on the n how you are doing.

Can you not order it online and have it delivered? I found mixing Protein powder with a pint of Water was a good way to get both Protein and fluids in, in the first 2 weeks.

maxcimax reacted to Miss Mac in Cold more often ?
I was 62 when I got my sleeve, and eleven years into one lonnnnnnng post-menopausal hot flash. I would just soak my bed with sweat at night as was changing my pajamas during the night and my sheets several times a week. About the time I lost that first thirty pounds, it all went away. I will take being a little chilly over being continuously over-heating. No more "clothes on - clothes off - clothes on - clothes off" all day long. Because I am more comfortable at night, I sleep a lot better, too.

maxcimax reacted to JamieLogical in How do you know if you're full?
The answer is, you may not know when you are full, which is why you should weigh and measure your food for this first little while here. Otherwise you risk eating too much or not enough. For me, I felt VERY full very quickly when I moved onto solids, but some people have temporary damage to their nerves post-op and don't experience that feeling.

maxcimax reacted to joatsaint in HUNGRY/NEED HELP
You mentioned juice? You might try cutting it out of your diet. Any kind of fruit tends to cause me head hunger. You may be getting so many carbs that it's triggering head hunger. Read the labels on your foods and cut out anything that has more than 5 to 8 carbs per serving.
When I was on my post op diet, I was only allowed meat, chicken, pork, cheese and vegetables. Nothing processed or with added sugars.

Not so much freaky as frightening since my health tanked so rapidly...but we are all on the way back together and that is the important thing!

maxcimax got a reaction from sbg224 in How long did your nausea last?
I was nauseated too but my surgeon suggested Unjury's chicken broth in powder form. It saved me. I would drink this broth & the nausea would subside. You also get some of your daily Protein requirement.
Be sure & read the directions. If the liquid you are mixing the powder into is to hot the powder will lump. Trust me, not a good thing. Use a whisk to mix the powder into the liquid. I also put a tiny bit of salt into the broth.

maxcimax reacted to LipstickLady in Surgery didn't happen for me
I had a very large mass on my liver, too. My doctor removed it and did the surgery. You'll have your surgery and this will be nothing but a blip on the radar eventually.

maxcimax reacted to Jewelgirl04 in FINALLY found a way to break a stall!
I've been bouncing between 164 and 165 for the better part of a month now after steady weight loss since the dreaded stall for weeks 3-5. I knew for the 3-5 stall, I just had to play the waiting game because it's a result of introducing non-liquids back into your body.
I was researching on here what other people have done as far as nutrition and exercise changes and saw someone suggested to go back to a liquid diet for 2-3 days just to reset the body. So, considering that was a relatively easy solution I could try first without changing up my exercise routine and such, I gave it a shot. I stuck to Protein Shakes (RTD and recipes), having a little Soup here and there to give me a little of the salty flavor I was craving so I didn't stray to snacking on junk food.< /p>
After three days of the liquid diet, no only did I get down to 163.4, but then after a day of eating normal solids again, I dropped to 162.8! So I lost 2.2 lbs in 3 days after NOTHING for a month!
I'm sure that it won't work for everybody, but it might be worth a shot to try before you go revamping your whole exercise routine (or throw your scale against a wall). Let me know if this has worked for you!
