  1. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know how nervous you will feel, but just think of what it is going to be like when it is all over. Then think about what its going to be like in 6 and 12 mths time. See you soon on the band side.
  2. I have had heartburn and since October have been on Omeprazole. It worked immediately. I take it daily. The other day my prescription ran out so i thought I would give it a couple of days and see if I get it back. Boy oh Boy did I ever. The next morning when I woke up I couldnt get to the chemist fast enough. I will ask my Dr at my next app next year, he is off till end of January....but do you think that means these tablets will have to be taken for life or should I be on another tablet or what?? I know I read a few ppl had heartburn etc and after going on a tablet for a bit it went away...should I expect mine will go or only by taking a tablet daily? Thanks for advice in advance.
  3. Cool Jess...its been months for me too, I have to get my butt into gear and get back to the gym.
  4. I am down 53lbs, the last few months have been up and down up and down. A constant battle for every kg lost. I still have reflux which I am on a med for and helps. I have had another fill since our last update but do not think I will get another fill because I cant take the reflux that comes with it. Sigh Sigh Sigh.....I just dont want to be fat anymore. How is everyone else doing?
  5. I asked my Dr about it and he didnt have any so I went to the inamed site and emailed them and they sent me a few straight away. If any of you cant get them from your Dr email inamed.
  6. Hi There are alot more experienced ppl to reply to this, but I will tell you what I know from my experience. DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE ANOTHER SURGERY TO HAVE ALL THE EXTRA FAT REMOVED? That is optional. Whether or not you have loose skin after losing weight depends on the individual...how fast they lose it...how good their skin tone is...if they try and exercise and tighten as they lose and many more things. That being said I desperately need a Tummy Tuck and am seeing a PS in February 06. WHAT KINDS OF PROBLEMS ARE ANYONE HAVING, AFTER SURGERY,IF ANY? This varies also, I have the big 10ml Vg band and have found it taking longer to get restriction, getting the band has also bought on reflux/heartburn...but as I have said before I would do it all again. I love my band!!! WHAT OR HOW DO YOU FIGURE ON MEALS OR food INTAKE ON A DAILY BASES? DO YOU OR ARE YOU GIVEN A STRUCTURED PLAIN TO GO BY? This varies too, my Drs office plan is compulsory which involves seeing a dietician before surgery and then regularly after. She gives me plans to follow which I dont very often. I try and get my Protein in each day and my Water, other than that I dont stress too much about what I eat. IS THERE A WEIGHT THAT THEY WON'T OPERATE ON ? I know we have ppl on both ends of the scales here, there are ppl at 190lbs and ppl that have been 500lbs plus, that is something you talk about with the Dr. The band has changed my life, it has given me back some control over my life and food. I cant allow food to control me anymore, I just cant. I cant let it soothe me when I am upset or down. I can eat a certain amount and thats it. Look into all the options and decide what is best for you...but I went with banding as it is the least invasive and reversible. Good Luck
  7. We are pretty much on par...except I was banded before you. I know I am on the slow end of ppl banded the same time, but I dont feel deprived in anyway. I want this weight loss to stay off for life so I want to be able to maintain how I am living for life. I could lose more alot quicker if I cut the chocolate and other bad things, but I find it so hard, so the couple of bites I have a day keeps my weight loss to a minimum but its definately something I can stick with. I dont know how true it is, but they say if you lose weight slowly it stays off longer...look at it that way. Now that I have wrote all that I sit here and think Oh Gee compared to most mine is slow...I want to get a move on...They have just opened a contours in the next suburb, might go find out about it and start the exercise back up. Good Luck
  8. I had my step daughters 18th last weekend and decided to do entree type things before the main. I gave your egg muffins a go with egg bacon and cheese. Took me all of 10 mins to make and they were an absolute HIT!!!! I didnt make enough, people wanted the recipe and were praising my fine cooking skills. Hehe I took it all in and told them it was from years of practise lol . I just wanted to thank you for the recipe they are quick easy and yummmmmy.
  9. If you are undecided just do liquids for 2 meals and have a healthy meal once a day. None of us are Drs, but with a low starting weight for your height and BMI, I really wouldnt worry too much.
  10. My Dr never made me do it either, he said only patients with BMIs over 45 need to do it. I actually went totally wild leading up to surgery and put on a few kgs from the last meal syndrome....bad me.
  11. Hi I rang my Dr 3 days post op also because I was so worry how severe the diarreah(sp) was. He told me it is completely normal because we are on liquids only it gives you the runs. I remember similiar posts also and alot of ppl have had the same thing. I just thought the clean out would do me good anyway
  12. I cant say much more than everyone else has except I am sorry this has happened. I know from how inspirational and motivational you are, you will succeed at life without the band. I am glad you are going to stay with us because you are really just such an inspiration to ppl. You will be in my thoughts.
  13. If you can do this....DO IT!!! I am sure I am not the only that will tell you we wish we had it done earlier. You are 21, go for it!!! I am sure you wont regret it. Good Luck
  14. I got bad reflux after one of my fills. I was the same, I was eating normally so didnt think I was overfilled. I tried all things suggested on here like not eating after 5pm etc and they helped a little. I went back and seen my Dr and he gave me some meds to take for it and I have not had it since....not at all. I hope you work it out as I know how painful it can get. Good Luck
  15. I am not a great one to give advice on snacking on the right thing. I have a MAJOR problem with chocolate. I am not too bad with other snackey stuff. I find that almonds or the fruit and nut mixes are good for snacking on. As for bread I could eat that easily up until 2 fills ago...now I can osrt of eat it if I take my time and be careful but I dont find it worth it so I dont.
  16. Hi Sue I wish Rachele the best of luck. I was wondering how much did you guys lose with the band? Did you have troubles finding restriction? Im hoping I am not asking too many personal questions I was just wondering what the reason was the band didnt work for either of you. I agree letting people know the possibilities of what could happen with the band, even though I read all the stories when I was researching and the small amount of complications was not enough for me not to give it a try. Good Luck to both of you
  17. I had been following her story too, and find it really strange that this person I had never met could affect me so deeply. I pray for her son and family. I hope she is at peace.
  18. I just wanted to let you know I needed around 7 fills before I got decent restriction with the VG band, before I reached that level I slowly put on some of the weight I had lost too. Dont panic...it will be ok. Good Luck
  19. I have the VG Band. I had 2.5mls put in at surgery and felt some restriction for the first couple of weeks. I then had no restriction until my 6th or 7th fill. I just had my 9th fill taking me up to 9.6mls. Restriction for me is different for me day to day. Some days I really wonder "Do I have a band?" and other days its like woooaahhh, I really have to be careful how I eat. My Dr only uses VG bands now, so it doesnt matter what size your insides are, you get the Vg so I wonder whether or not if youre insides arent very big, whether it would be harder to get restriction with the VG band. No matter what I still wouldnt change a thing. I have lost 50lbs and my life has drastically changed. We just need to work a little harder until we get the restriction we need.
  20. I went back on the pill recently too, my weight loss stalled big time. I dont know if it is related but I havent lost in 2 or so months and that is when I went back on it again.
  21. My shoe size has stayed the same, but my engagement ring is now on my middle finger. I had it resized up when I put on all my weight, it got to the stage where it was too tight on my finger, now it just falls off. I think it may be 2 sizes or so I have gone down....I wish it would come off like that on my belly.
  22. I weigh myself with my pjs on, then do a piddle and weigh naked. I did this religiously everyday for the first 6 mths, now I do it every few days or so because I am so sick of not seeing the scale move and it was controlling how I felt too much each day if I had put on weight or not lost anything.
  23. I cant say much more than everybody else has except I was exactly the same. I really regretted my decision for a week or so afterwards. I was in pain and crying and couldnt manage more than a few sips. Honestly it gets better, especially when the weight starts coming off and you feel in control of yourself and your life again. Once the swelling goes down you will be able to tolerate more. Good Luck and I hope you are feeling better.
  24. Ohhhhh doesnt everyone just call it Maccas. Thats really all Ive ever known it as, and noone ever calls it Mc Donalds. I didnt realise it wasnt the same over there. Oh well you learn something everyday. Your turn to teach me some American slang now.
  25. Im a C cup and have lost a little off my boobies, they are a saggy baggy mess, which I spose just matches my saggy baggy belly which then matches my saggy baggy bottom. My body is one big saggy baggy mess.
