help with fluid intake
I have a 1 liter jug that I got because the proceeds were going to fight breast cancer. Didn't know I would like it so much. I keep it near me as much as can and uaually drink 2 liters a day. Keeps my hands and mouth busy when I crave something. Sometimes I don't even know I'm drinking and all of a sudden it's empty.

holy mother of need help
Nachos and pizza? I hope your post is susposed to be a joke. I don't want to be mean but don't you know that you have to eat healthy. Do you see a nutritionist? Maybe you should get a book on nutrition after bariatric surgery.

Stress eating, STOP IT!
Well live and learn. Don't do it again next year. OK? You don't have to put yourself through that. You don't have to ever make another cookie in your life if it's not good for you.

Searching for ways to succeed
I was also banded Oct 26 and have only lost 14. Maybe because my Dr starts us on mushies the day after surgery. I'm so hungery now. Just like before surgery. I'm getting a fill Dec 13 and counting on that to help.

My Worst Fat Day EVER!
I don't know if I should laugh or cry. It's a sad story but the way you tell it makes it funny. I can just see you doing stand up comedy some day. I had to go to a meeting at the local high school one night a few years and pounds ago and I got stuck in a desk. My body just seemed to swell after I got in it. OH, the humiliation!

Is Smoking bad for the band?
My surgeons won't band anyone who smokes. They have to stop 6 mos before surgery.

A place for bandsters in their 60's
Gosh, I thought I posted on here but read them all today and can't find my post. I'm 67, 4 weeks post surgery, no fill and no restriction. I'm eating about the same as before surgery except for breakfast I'm having slim fast instead of the bagel I used to have. I have lost a little weight every week so it must be the breakfast. I can hardly wait for my 1st fill.

band not working 7 months post op
Are you being careful that you don't drink while eating and wash the food through the banded part into your big stomach? Are you eating protein first and is your food thick enough to stay in your smaller pouch? And are you avoiding sugar? Remember, we still have to work at this. As everyone keeps reminding everyone else "the band is just a tool. We have to make it work. Best wishes...Sharon

Has anyone ever advanced post op food phase ealier than you were supposed to?
I had my banding done at a "center of excellence" and they have done hundreds without complications or slippage. I was started on pureed food before I left the hospital (creamed wheat and pureed cotttage cheese) I was told I could eat baby food and anything without lumps for 2 weeks, then soft foods as tolerated and advance to other things as tolerated. I still think everone should follow their own Dr guidelines but unless different surgeons have all got their own way of doing things I don't think it will really hurt much if you eat mushies when you are on liquids. Maybe they just want you to lose faster. Sharon

i need help..kicking the sugar habit!!!!
I've found that Splenda is just as bad as sugar when it comes to being a trigger. I also like stevia. Try having some high protien snacks instead of sweets. I'm not the one to give advice as I also have a sugar addiction.

Pre-Op Diet Nausea
Could you leave the shake or the bar to have a snack in the middle of the aft? Both at once would make me sick too.

My back is killing me
Green, I've got about a pint of liq. oxicoton that I can't stand to take. (It makes my Alzheimers worse) Do you want to dispose of that for me? And bitter, I had that done last year. Nothing to it. I ended up having a fusion in May and that wasn't bad compare to my knee surgery. Sometimes fear is the worst part of procedures.

HELLO, any oldies out there? I'm almost 63 and want to live.

My Dear, Please please call your local crisis line or go to your family Dr and tell them how you feel. My son committed suicide a couple years ago and you can't begin to imagine the pain it causes the people who love you. Please get help right away. Sharon

Is anybody hungry???
I was banded 10/26. The first 8 or 9 days were wonderful...no hunger but then around the 10th day my hunger returned with a vengence. I can't have a fill for 4 weeks. My Christmas present will be my fill. Meanwhile, I am going to enjoy Thanksgiving.

Can you start over?
Have you thought about joining a weight watchers group and going to all the meeting for support and accountability? Or if you ndon't like to cook, how about nutasystem? They have a diabetic program. Of course you can start over but you must need to do something differently. Sharon

Why do some doctors allow you to eat mushy 1 week post-op?
my dr starts out on mushies while still in the hosp. Go figure!

What does 2.8 cc's of food look like???
as others have explained, the amout in the band doesn't coralate to how much your pouch holds, but to answer your question about how much a cc is...there are 5 cc in a teaspoon and 30 in an ounce. Does that help you visulize it?
