1. I think you will get your answers at the seminars. My clinic is a "center of excellence" They have never lost a patient and very few complications. I think you should find out just what the statistics are where you are going. I'm sure that since you asked about complications here you will hear from everyone who had them. There are a lot more who never had anything go wrong. Keep reading and learning. Sharon
2. Just having surgery can make you tired for awhile. I slept for 48 hours after mine. Just got up every few hours to eat, walk and potty and then fell back into bed. Be sure you are getting enough calories. I kept track of mine the first 2 weeks and at first I was only getting about 700 a day. Now I could probly get 7000. I don't seem to have any restriction (surgery was 10/26) Also be sure you get enough protien....60-80 gr. a day. And of course enough sleep! Sharon
3. Protien bullets have about 45 gr of protien and can be added to water and drank. I won't lie and say they are delicious but they do give you lots of protien. Our clinic encourages us to get liq. protien. They are all so different. I was started on mushies before I left the hosp. Now 2 weeks post op I can eat soft foods with no problem and it sounds like many of you are still on liq. It makes me wonder if it really matters what we eat as long as we can tolerate it. Bandster, I'm so glad you are feeling better. Reminded me of when I was young and broke all the time. Hang in there. Sharon
4. OOOPs.....I didn't think my first post "took" I got banded on the 28th. Still gassy. I updated my ticker because now I've lost 10#. Long way to go. I should add that when doing ww it would be a good idea to concentrate on getting in 60mg protien before you let youself use up points on junk food.sharon
5. Yes, by all means....ww is very healthy. sharon
6. I think that's an excellent idea. WW is such a healthy way of living. When I get to the stage where I can eat regular food. I plan to do ww. Sharon
7. Here's another nurse. I'm independent which means I bill medicade directly for the work I do with private in home patients. Actually I only have 1 now. I'm trying to retire. I only work 1-2 days a week because they need me there as the case manager at least once a week. Before this I worked 20 years in med surg ans ER, then 10 in psych and now 10 as pdn. It's been interesting. Sharon
8. I now see that that question said medicare/medicaid....I think Medicaid on the other is a freebie for people who aren't working. I have very mixed feelings about that paying. I guess if a person is disabled by thier weight, it would be cheaper in the long run to get them slimmed down enough to become prductive tax paying citizens. Sharon
9. I'm glad they do. That's how I got it. Another good point is that the rest of the insurance usually eventually follow suit when medicare does something . Sharon
10. I love unflavored unjury. It didolves quickly in fruit juice or soup (my main uses) and doesn't have any taste. I grt mine on the internet. Sharon
11. Yes,indeed they do. I just had mine and they paid....No problem, no letters. Oh, it has to be done at a center of excellence. UW hospital is one and thats where I went. (thats in Madison, Wis)Good luck to you. Sharon
12. Read Dozys reply again and pretend I wrote it. She's right on.
13. My Dr lets us start muchies right aftr surgery. Everything pureed to applesause consistency. They are all so different. I will be banded Fri
14. The thing you should be thinking about besides calorie consumption is how you are going to pay for your liver transplant. I'm an RN...Not trying to preach, just being realistic.
15.
I'm one week from being banded and I hate to cook. I cooked for the family I grew up in later and my own 6 kids and I think I'm just burned out. My plan is to live mainly on pre-made meals like lean cousine, wieghtwatchers etc. I'm hoping one at a time will be enough after banding (Now I need at least 2 at a time) Am I being realistic? I have a bunch of nutri-system meals from my last failed diet. I plan to puree some of those for the mushie stage. Do you think that will work? Any advise is welcome.

16. I'm not banded yet. Oct 26 is the big day. I feel like going out and buying a belt that fits me now, just to watch it get loose!
17. I will try the frozen slim fast tonight.:hungry:
18. Hi ...I'm also Oct 26. Can't wait!
19. Well, I have a date...0ct 26. Doing the liq diet and very hungry. How did the rest of you get through it?
20. When reading all these notes, I got wondering what does a person say to someone who has lost a lot of weight? Is it better to ignore it or comment? It sounds like if they say you are looking great, it insinuates you weren't before and if they ignore it, like they didn't notice. I haven't got my band yet and I don't really know what I would want people to say.
21. I just got my banding date. It will be Oct 26. I'm very excited!
22. I just got some yesterday. I poured it over shaved ice made in the snow cone maker. It was sort-a like a snowcone. Artifical sweetner always my hungry though so I was hungry and had to eat some crackers later. Lots of protien...35mgs I think.
23. Hey, That puppy on your page looks just like my little maltese, Sophie looked a few months ago! She is a little sweetie...............now on to the subject. PUT YOUR SCALES AWAY! You will loose weight. There is no way you can't if you are eating what you should. Don't obsess about it!
24. Hi, I'm going to be 67 in 2 days and I'm wondering if I'm the oldest ever to get banded. I haven't got my band yet, but hopefully will with-in the month. I would love to hear from some "senior citizens". Sharon
25. Hi, Hopefully I'll have my band by or in Sept. I have an appointment with my surgeon next week. Everything else is done and ins. approved it. I'm so tired of waiting. I started this process in April. Believe it or not, I hadn't heard of lapband before then. I love this site.
