If we can't take NSAIDS, then what can we take?
I should qualify the statement about narcotics....He means just once in awhile for severe pain. Not on a daily basis.

Question
You really don't have any restriction until you get enough fills to reach your "sweet spot". I'm not there yet! I bet you're losing inches with all your exercising. Are you measuring?

If we can't take NSAIDS, then what can we take?
WOW...I think saying he's an idiot is rather idiotic on your part. I'm an RN. I totally understand why. Has very little to do with thinning your blood and everything to do with the fact that NSAIDS cause damage to the stomach lining...known as ulcers. The faster they go through the less damage. Being stored in a pouch for awhile would be dangerious. But hey, go ahead, help yourself to all the NSAIDs you want. Just don't tell other people they can safely take them.

Help me LIE!
I would go for the hernia. It might even be true. A lot of us had hernia repairs at the same time.

Hello from Wisconsin
Hi Shadow, I'm from Baraboo which is just south of the Dells, about 40 minutes from Madison. Do you live anywhere near? Are you buried in snow like we are? I'm so sick of winter. Can't even get out and walk! On the bright side, it can't last much longer. If you are close enough to Madison the UW program is excelent.

If we can't take NSAIDS, then what can we take?
Aleve is nasprosyn and my surgeon says it's the worst.....to never ever take it. The other NSAIDS are for "special" occasions only. My Dr would rather have me take a narcotic than NSAIDs.

question about when to eat.
Did you just have surgery in the past few days? If so you might have to eat (or drink) at regular intervals even if you don't feel like it. If you are months post op and aren't hungery, just be sure you get your protien in and vitamins and fiber and fluids. V8 is good and v8 fusion too.

Letting go of anger
Back to anger....I try to remember that the anger I am feeling is tearing me up while the person I am so furious with doesn't even know it. They aren't suffering my anger. I'm the one suffering. Do I want to suffer because of them? No way. I can either let it go or let them know in a civil way that they hurt me and how I felt when they did that, said that or whatever. Then I just have to decide how imporant it is too me. If it's someone I will never see again, what's the point of dwelling on it. If it's something I have to deal with on a regular basis I better confront them and tell them how I feel when they do or say whatever it is. Does that make sense?

You are such a wise man Jack. I wish I knew you in person.

I can taste the Saline after my fill
I can't think of any way you could be getting saline to your tongue. Actually all our body fluids are mostly saline so your saliva probably tastes just about the same. Maybe the imagination is getting a little over active? LOL

My first NSV
I really doubt if that's true because a lot of people have to fly regularly for their work.

Can't burp?
Ya it's wierd for the rest of the world but for us bandsters, it's pretty normal. I find gasx helps.

Medic Alert ID or not?
Did you know that EMTs (I used to be one) look for the letters ICE which stands for "in case of emergency". You can put all your info in envelopes in the car, on your frig, in your purse and put ICE in big letters so they can find it .. Also program ICE on your cell phone to contact a family member that knows all about you.

Is grilled fish a mushie?
I would call it a mushy if you can mash it up with a fork.

Greetings from Albuquerque
HI jeanieb, Welcome to our site. I'm way up in cold snowy Wi. So glad to have you join our site. I'm another nurse, working 1 day a week now. Seems like 1/2 of lapbanders are nurses! I think we all learned to "eat as much as fast as we can because it might be hours before we get another chance!" So what is the temp in NM now? Oh maybe I would be better off not knowing.

Restaurant Traps
I love brocoli cheese soup, but isn't it about half fat? Subway here has soup only in the winter.

Severe Restriction in the AM, No Restriction in the PM
Same here! I'm wondering if I need a fill. I can get one in 2 weeks. But I have a horrible time getting my (crushed and mixed in sf jam) pills down in the a.m. What are you bansters going to do? I would sure like some decent restriction at night.

Lap-Band "Common Problem Foods" Survey
I'm "tight as a drum" in the morning and "loose as a goose" at night so it was hard to answer. I kinda went by how I am at noon.

Protein problems
Baby food meats aren''t too bad if you salt. I wouldn't waste money on any of the fruit or veg though as you can buy V8, apple sause etc. Have you tried cottage cheese? Also peanut butter goes down pretty well. Good luck. Don't give up.

Peritonitis Lap Band Removal
I wasn't finished but had to quit for a minute. I wanted to say that you DO fit in with this group. We have people with all kinds of problems. Not too many people who are doing great post on a regular basis. People tend to post more when they are having trouble. It doesn't matter if you have a band now or not. You are still a bandster.
