  1. Oh boy. I'll miss carbs in general, fast food, french fries, and my beloved pizza! I'm more than ready to say goodbye to those things (for the most part, lol)
  2. How do you feel being a week post op? Oh yeah, has the pain subsided?
  3. Curious to know how you're feeling two weeks out!
  4. For those who have had the surgery recently...is the pain tolerable? My sister had her surgery yesterday afternoon and says the pain is horrible and she can't tolerate morphine because she throws up...shes so scared she has a leak because she threwup hrs after surgery but I hope not. She said pain is so bad! I guess it's different for everyone. She had a hernia repaired too. She also had vertical sleeve, not bypass. Hmmmm.
  5. Oh! By the way, keep us all updated!!! Hang in there
  6. I'll have to agree! He's already pretty handsome...def a skinny sexy version of kevin james!! Lol!

  8. Congrats and get well soon!!!
  9. My younger sister is having her surgery by Dr. Brathwaite this Wednesday! Gooood luck!!!!!!!
  10. Hi Cooksie I'm replying to this thread late, but we seem to be in a similar boat. I am doing the 6 month diet (ugh) and just had my first weigh in earlier this month. I'm hoping for surgery right after Christmas inbetween school semesters. Seems like all I've been doing is running back and forth to doctor visits...sleep studies, cardiologist, nutritionist, pulmonologist, lab work, EKG, support groups, psych eval, radiologist...the appointments are never ending I feel like 6 months is a lifetime away...and I fear doing all this work and possibly being denied. It's cool to know we may potentially be having our surgery somewhat around the same time! Good luck to you...and lets makes these next few months count!!
  11. I am also concerned about getting in enough protein being that I don't really like meat or fish. Veggie burgers are great, but are they tolerable after surgery?
  12. Welcome!!! You'll love it here
  13. Welcome!!! You'll find tons of information and mutual support here, so make yourself at home
  14. So happy to hear you're doing well! Was the pain very intense on day 1 and 2? Hang in there and keep us posted
  15. If you find that the anxiety is really overwhelming, you could always ask for a medication temporarily
  16. So far, only my family, fiance, and his family know. I will most likely tell my classmates/co-workers as the surgery draws near though. In my opinion, I think it's important to be open about it in order to lessen the stigma associated with weight loss surgery and being overweight in general. The more people are educated, usually the more accepting they become. I don't feel a point in being secretive about it...I feel proud that I'm making my health a priority.
  17. That's terrible Hang in there though. Just think...it's almost over. My sister is your age and doing her two week liquid diet now and having a hard time. I keep letting her know her NEW life is so close now, it's in sight. It's frustrating, but you are almost there.
  18. I'm so sick of not having any energy. I complained so much about most of the pre-op testing I've had so far....but my Dr. Just found an issue with my thyroid...which is a blessing in disguise. If it wasn't for starting the process of getting this surgery, I probably never would have found out! I'm hoping for more energy once it's treated lol. The pre-op testing is a pain, but I see the importance of it now.
