  1. John, my husband hide the scales on me during my preop diet. I was too obsessed with worrying about not losing enough weight. I had my surgery May 30 th and will weigh in on June 11 at my first post op appt with my surgeon. After that my husband is getting the scales out from hiding once a week! Thank God for spouses lol
  2. Hi Armywife! I had my surgery May 30th and was very swollen in my belly. Luckily a friend had warned me this would happen..she had her surgery in August. She told me not to step on the scales until my 2 week preop appt..she said she gained 17 pounds after surgery and her doctor told her it was from the anesthesia process and the bruising swelling. I was very sore the first day home which was yesterday but mostly because I didn't keep up on my pain meds! Now I know better ...I talked with the nurse yesterday and she said pain control is very important..also the walking helps get the gas moving around so it can be released. Hang in there, you will be much better by the time your husband is home. Also I have heard the 3rd day is the worst. How are you doing with your water?
  3. Doing good today. Drinking is going good just water right now ...going to try protein shakes tomorrow. Anyone heard how Mami is doing?
  4. Surgery was yesterday at 11 am. Went great ! I'm on my way home now. Drinking has been no problem at all. The larger of the incisions is a little uncomfortable understandably so. I'm so excited that I HAVE started my new life path.
  5. Down 6 as of this morning and liquids today ... Surgery tomorrow... Excited nervous happy anxious all of th above !
  6. My surgery is getting close ....May 30th! I have only lost two pounds and have been on thenpreopmdiet since May 16th.... At the bariatric center they said I was doing fine ...wieghted in there on Friday ..but I guess I'm getting a little panicky and reaching out for some positive reinforcement :-)
  7. I am on my two week pre op diet now. I have three choices to follow each day. 1) five protein shakes 2) three protein shakes and two lean cuisine/ healthy choice meals which are under 300 cal and at least 15grams of protein 3) three protein shakes six ounces lean meat 1/2 cup cooked starch. One medium fruit 6 ounce low-fat yogurt. On any of these options I could have unlimited vegetables ... no starchy veggies. For the first week I was eating three protein shakes into lean cuisines found that the sodium in the lean cuisines was really bloating my body even with drinking 64 ounces of fluid a day. ... so this week I'm trying option three. Had chicken with my salad tonight yummy. I agree that doing this for before surgery really helps your mindset ready

  13. Great job! I'm new here also. Having my surgery may 30. I am 49 and have 4 grandchildren that I want to run and play with. August will be here before you know it . The time flies.
  14. I started this journey about six months ago when I attended my first informational meeting at MMC. Now here I am getting ready for my surgery. I have struggled all my life with my weight since age 6. I have been on many diets and thought there was never going to be anything that worked for me. I had never considered gastric bypass surgery so when my physician suggested it to me I was very interested. She had seen me struggle through the years exercising losing and gaining .... I had always thought gastric bypass surgery was not for me because it would mean I was weak and unable to do this on my own. I am so happy to find out that that's not the case at all. It is especially for me! And I deserve it and I'm worth it! my surgery is scheduled for May 30. I am on my preop diet now. It is harder than I thought but I know what will be worth it!
