  1. Before surgery i didnt tell anyone but my family. Now I tell anyone who asks me. I've had a couple people at work who just asked recently tell me they were afraid to ask because I was off work for six weeks and they thought I was really sick.
  2. Hope you made it through the night okay!
  3. I am constantly forgetting to take my calcium. Not sure if everyone is aware but you should not be taking your iron and calcium at the same time because they compete for absorption. I was told take them at least one hour apart and that's my down fall. I take my multi and iron first thing. Then "plan" on my calcium an hour later. I stick it in my pocket, go to work and come home at the end of the day, take off my uniform and there it is in in my pocket still! I'll take it then and then forget to take my second multi an hour later!!!! Ugh!
  4. Baby Belle Light cheeses are my go to snack. They are small, only 50 calories, they don't have a ton of protein (6 grams) but they're fun to eat and they satisfy me every time. I also like the laughing cow cheeses. I'll have them on a flat bread cracker that has about 5 or 6 carbs in it.
  5. My hair started falling out like crazy about a week or two ago. I am 4 months and one week post op. I really thought I was doing well with my protein but I guess it's time to start start drinking a shake for breakfast every day again. I was taking biotin in the beginning but I stopped when I learned here and at the nutritionist that it's the protein factor that makes you lose your hair. I have noticed lately my hair is much drier that it used to be. I used to get compliments on how shiny and silky my hair was. I'm going to run out today and get the garnier shampoo Fter I take my biotin and drink a 30 gram protein shake!
  6. Cool, I moved to California from Madison Heights. I get very homesick this time of year :-(
  7. I'm pretty sure ALL farts stink. LOL Just kidding, I was never able to pass gas in the hospital.
  8. You can buy Premier Protein shakes at Costco. 30 grams if protein and 160 calories per shake. They come in vanilla and chocolate. The vanilla is very sweet though and I really don't care for it.
  9. I agree, take your pain meds as directed. It also sounds like you may be suffering from dehydration. The body aches are one of the symptoms. My advice is call your surgeons office ASAP. Dehydration is serious and you need to get some fluids in your body right away. Have you tried drinking something warm? Like herbal tea or broth? Stay away from caffeine.
  10. Concentrate on getting well, then you can deal with your protein intake. Hope you feel better soon!
  11. Don't feel bad. You could have done much worse. You admitted you made a mistake. Every day is a fresh start.
  12. Preop weight 234 Day of surgery on 4/30/12 215 Today I weigh 162!!! 72 pounds gone! Still unbelievable to me. I haven't been at this weight in 20 years. Only 27 more pounds to go and I'm at my goal!!!!
  13. My mom calls them her bingo flags. You have to actually picture an old lady yelling BINGO while waving her card in the air. LOL it cracked me up when she demonstrated for me. Yeah...I guess you had to be there...
  14. Mine was sore for a few weeks. Before you know it you will forget they're even there.
  15. Looks like its healing nicely. Does it hurt?
  16. I was so excited to be able to eat eggs but have found that they are pretty much the only thing that I can no longer stomach. Just the thought of them makes me kind if nauseous. It's too bad really, because they're so cheap and easy to make! :-(
  17. I am about 4 months out and I know immediatiately when I have eaten too fast or not chewed enough. It literally feels like my food is stuck in my throat and the only way to resolve the psin is to have it come back up. It is the most miserable thing ever! I feel your pain brother! I've found the easiest thing is to not wait more than 3 hours between eating, then I'm not so hungry!
