  1. Hi Sandy, welcome to the thread. July 16 will be here quick. I go in July 11 if my insurance co-operates this time. I've been denied twice but, hopefully we'll be all set this time.
  2. welcome back Mami. Congrats on your surgery! Hope you're healing up well and your recovery is speedy
  3. I did see some biotin that was small gel type pills...but wasn't sure we could take those. I'll have to ask my surgeon if I see my hair falling out.
  4. Congrats on your revision. Don't forget you're body is still healing and you probably still have some fluid left from the operation/IV they gave you. You'll be losing soon! How are you feeling?
  5. ONe of the other tools I just bought was a small thermos brand thermos from Amazon so that I can take soups to work. It comes with a cover you use as the bowl and a metal spool that attaches to the cover. It will keep the food inside it hot for 7 hours or cold for 9. Got the idea from a bariatric website.
  6. My2nd I use Sparkpeople and I have the app on my phone as well. You can create your favorite foods to use each time or use the ones already in the program. It will track the protein for you and you have other choices on what you want it to track.
  7. Tammy - what about reading one of the many gastric bypass books out there. One that i found helpful and was recommended to me by my bariatric group was Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies. I found a lot of information in it along with recipes and great tips.
  8. My preop stuff was 6 vials of blood, EKG, quick physical and Chest Xray. I had had bloodwork about 4 weeks prior and they put me on my post op vitamins early.
  9. Be careful because most protein in tubes isn't the right kind of protein to take in. Most is gelatin/collegen based with a little whey in it and they call it whey protein. After RNY you need to take in Whey or Soy protein. It's best digested and absorbed by your body.
  10. no Straws because you draw in air with it so can't take in as much Water. Although we were told the same thing when I had the lapband and found I drank more water if I used a straw. The only time it was an issue was when it was a straw that had a small crack...you know when you can actually hear the air pulling into it from the side of the straw and you have to draw hard. WEll then I threw it away and used a new one. Gum...the added air but, more so because if you accidently swallow it, it can block the opening from your pouch to intestine and you'll be in trouble. Gum takes a LONG time to digest and our pouches are too small to have something in them that long blocking things.
  11. My surgeon said the same, they want folks to quit smoking because it can irritate your stomach including ulcers.
  12. OUCH DL...hope you feel better soon. REDSON - Divide it all. If 14 ounces is 25 grams of protein...then half 7 ounces would be 12.5 grams. 3.5 ounces would be 6.25 grams etc. Baltomomma - It's my understanding the goal isn't so much calories but, protein. Have you tracked your protein intake? Checked with your surgeon/bariatric center to see how much you should be taking in at this point in your weightloss journey? Good Luck!
  13. I thought so too and I think it helps keep in perspective the amount of food you should have in the right portions. Of course not all of that can be eaten at one sitting but, it can include the Snacks you eat in between the main Protein portion. On Amazon I bought just the insides of the bento box. I already have a thermal lunch tote so thought I'd put the pieces inside. There are some really cute bentos though. Another great tool is the Blender Bottle. I got those online as well. shake bottle with a wire ball inside that helps break up the Protein powder and keep it stirred up.
  14. I got mine on Amazon...it's basically a lunch box or you can get the boxes that go in the lunch box. They are different sizes and each one is used for a different food group. The size for fruit and veggies is bigger, protein medium, cheese or other snack smaller etc. It helps you portion your meals. Great for packing lunch for work.
  15. Thought I had a few buddies but, looks like they gave up How is everyone doing?
  16. Thats all the IV fluids they pump into you...it will go down.
  17. What a process huh? I went through all the hoops and ladders required and my date was 6/6. Well heard yesterday that my insurance denied it and wants a complete medical clearance from my PCP. She's on vacation until 6/12. So much for the 6/6 surgery.....I'm being told now the next available date is 7/11. Not all insurances are alike though...I have one of the tougher ones. I wish you a smooth ride and that all goes well! Good luck!
  18. Fantastic Job! Keep up the great work...you can do it!
  19. I"ve heard of it also but, never tried it. Does it get softer than rice or the same texture?
  20. Awesome news! Congrats and keep up the great work!
  21. It will be here before you know it. Congrats!
