  1. DL they have their own website Capella Flavor Drops. They just came out with drops for water too but, I haven't tried those. They have over 70 flavors and usually there is a deal when purchasing them. Looks like right now they are offering 10% off orders of $20 or more. I got mine when the deal was 5 bottles for $19.95. The bottles last a long time because you only have to use about 6-10 drops in your shake depending on how strong you like it.
  2. Well saw my PCP today and faxed in the new paperwork my insurance needed. WE'll see if the 7/11 date is a go! I sure hope so!
  3. DL I agree with you and hope when I'm on the other side of the journey I can keep that in mind as far as staying off the scale all the time. Thanks for that!
  4. Any other helpful hints? I bought some flavorings for my shakes that have no calories, no sugar etc. They are by Capella. Folks use it for coffee but, it's great to make your plain shakes take on other flavors. I add coconut and toasted almond to my chocolate shake and it's fantastic! I've also added the peanut butter flavor to my chocolate and liked that too.
  5. quite an inspiration. Thanks for sharing! Makes me even more certain that I'm making the right decision.
  6. esther - seeing that broth stayed down....do you think maybe your body just isn't ready yet for the more solid food or that maybe you're not chewing it well enough before swallowing it? Everyone is different so we all react differently to each food stage. Maybe try blending the food first? So you're getting the more solid foods you like but, in a softer form until your body adjusts? Good luck!
  7. barkatt - I think it's great that you want to support her in every way you can. Believe me that in itself is helping her more than you know. How about looking up different Protein shake recipes to help change the flavors for her? Making sure she has all her Vitamins set for when she can start taking them again. Perhaps getting her set up with a bento box for when she can eat, some pretty measuring cups and spoons, food scale...all things to make getting the right portions right for her. How about buying a Bariatric cook book for when she's ready to eat regular foods and both of you can cook through the cookbook together That's what hubby and I are going to do. Good luck to you both
  8. I believe she meant If you're NOT to big to begin with the weight comes off slowly.
  9. Walking all day without getting blisters Less weight on my knees Buying clothes that go with my age instead of just because they fit Riding with my husband on his motorcycle and not feeling over exposed/feel confident Not looking in the mirror and seeing all the bulges and rolls
  10. Good luck and we'll be thinking of you. Let us know how you're doing
  11. I agree...you should call your surgeon, let him/her know what's going on and they can help.
  12. Did you chew the grilled chicken well? I've found grilled chicken dry and tough and I don't even have the surgery yet. If you didn't and took too much of it you may be having a hard time digesting it. Have you tried Papaya enzyme tablets or a little meat tenderizer to help digest it?
  13. You've got it twice in your signature line. Can you see where it starts repeating?
  14. Welcome to RNYTalk folks Jump in with the rest of us. We're all here for the same reasons and we can all get healthy together!
  15. After reading all these posts I'm glad I bought a new recliner for my office LOL WE have them in the livingroom but, it's noisy out there. I'd never sleep, my dogs would keep me up. At least in the office I can shut the door so if everyone else is up, I can still sleep if needed.
  16. Thinking of you Julia! Did they say what caused it?
  17. jgarland...the reason "not medically necessary" just means they didn't receive all the information they wanted the first time. I was denied as well for the same reason but, there are "specific" reasons. I've been denied twice....first time was because they didn't think I'd been under the bariatric center's care long enough. Three months was their requirement. My surgeon proved that and they passed that but, then denied me for the next things they wanted. This time they said the same 3 month thing which my surgeon argued they approved last time so they said they wanted a new letter. They also wanted a new letter from my surgeon that explains all about the surgery again but, with CPT (procedure) codes. (If you're not familiar with medical billing...it's the numbers used for each procedure billed.) She was going to write that over again but, they also wanted a NEW letter from my PCP that actually has the words "medically released for surgery". She had written a letter stating I'm a long standing patient who's suffered from morbid obesity the whole time and that I would benefit from Gastric Bypass surgery. Apparently she needed the extra words. Problem was she was on vacation and wouldn't be back until AFTER my first surgery date. So now I"m waiting to see her this coming FRiday, get a new letter and we can apply for the surgery again which is set for 7/11. Hopefully it will be Medically Necessary again. INsurance companies use that as a catch all when they want additional information. If it were truly not medically necessary then there will be no other requires being asked of you or your surgeon and they've seen all the evidence they want. Even then you can appeal. IF YOU call your insurance company it does help push it a bit too. Good luck! Again remember this doesn't mean a permanent NO yet.
  18. Well the first time they wanted more info...my weight for the past 4 years and proof that I've been under supervised care for 3 months. My surgeon supplied them with that and they accepted those additions. Then they denied me a second time stating they needed proof about the 3 months of supervised care, a letter from my surgeon that included CPT (Procedure) codes and Medical release from my PCP. Well my surgeon argued the point on the 3 months that they had already approved and so they gave into that again but, wanted a new letter explaining it. My surgeon was ready to write both letters again but, my PCP went on vacation and wasn't going to be back until AFTER my first surgery date. Well so much for that. I see my PCP this coming Friday and praying I get the appropriate letter in place so my surgeon can then apply for the new surgery date of July 11. It's so nerve wracking! I was all set to go, had everything in place for 6/6 then let down. So I'm trying again...I won't give up! Always remember YOU'RE WORTH IT! You're worth your effort to better health...see if that helps with the food stuff
  19. Welcome to RNYTalk Jump on it!
  20. Mami so sorry to hear you're not feeling well. What symptoms are you having?
  21. It's something that got us here in the first place that we need to learn how to deal with before surgery and it's important to keep working at it during the whole process and even more so after the surgery. You're not alone. I find I have to talk to myself ALOT to get thinking the right way. Food has been comfort whether we admit it or not. I know for me I've had to learn to replace that comfort with other things when I'm stressed. It's been a long process and some days I don't do so well....especially the day my surgery was denied a 2nd time. But what I was happy about was it wasn't an ALL day thing that it used to be. So you'll get there. If you're serious about the surgery, start working and preparing yourself for stressful time and what you'll do instead of eating. Lots of books out there to read about RNY surgery and helpful hints in them about this exact thing. I wish you the best with the start of your journey! July 11 is my next date for my surgery...hoping my insurance approves it this time.
  22. eglean I've been denied twice. We're going yet again for a 3rd time. I see my PCP next friday to obtain what the insurance claims they need and I'll try again. I have a date for 7/11 so hoping it gets approved this time around.
  23. Chewing Papaya Enzyme helps too if you want to help digest meat that's stuck.
  24. Sandy any idea why no "red" jello or crystal light? What's in the red dye that they don't want you having?
  25. When I had my lapband I went through losing hair after about 3 months post op. It slowed down and eventually stopped though. My hair didn't get really thin so I was lucky with that. Seems that it's all grown back after it too.
