  1. I've struggled with my weight all my life. I turned 40 and was still overweight after saying I didn't want to be overweight when I hit 40. Finally had enough with high blood pressure meds and getting even bigger but so afraid of re-routing my organs. I remember seeing the commercials for it and I kept saying if there were something less evasive I would go for it...then saw an add for lapband. I went for it just before my 42 birthday. Well 6 years and a revision to a bigger band, a really bad prolaps and emergency surgery to take the band out...I was done and figured I was going to be overweight but, at least feel good. Well the big 50 is around the corner, the weight started coming back on again because the band was gone and I finally said....I just need to do this. The medical world has gained 6 more years of experience performing the RNY surgery and taking care of patients and it's become so much safer - I'M GOING FOR IT! I need help to help me stick to eating right and getting healthier. So......I want to be healthier for my 50th birthday! Started the process back up last year with the same surgeon that did my lapband but, discovered that was part of the problem...he didn't listen to me. So after going through hoops and being left on my own with them, I changed bariatric centers and started again. TOTALLY different experience and I couldn't be happier with my surgeon and the bariatric center she works in. I'm down over 40 pounds - it's coming off slow but, I know that's how my body works but, at least it's coming off and coming off healthily because I'm following the rules. The best part is I'm no longer gaining so to me that's worth it all!
  2. Thrift stores and clearance racks will be my friend. I'm down over 40 pounds since I started this process but still don't have the confidence to even try on clothes in a store yet. Does anyone else find it frustrating how the same size differs depending on where you buy them? I'm looking forward to the day I actually like shopping for clothes. Slowly but surely it's coming
  3. It will happen quick now. The pretests weren't bad for me at all. Even better if you can get most of them on the same day. Good luck!
  4. Great job! Temptation isn't always easy to handle and you handled it perfectly! Awesome!
  5. cmarie...you're still not far out from your surgery date. Your body is still healing and I can bet you still have some swelling from surgery. Keep following your doctors eating plan and exercise plan and that scale will move! You're doing awesome!
  6. Good luck Friday! Let us know how you make out. Hope it all goes well for you.
  7. Congrats and you're right, it will be here quick! Start getting prepped by trying different shakes and Vitamins to make sure you'll like them Good luck.
  8. welcome to the boards!
  9. Welcome to the boards Lucii! Thinking of the surgery is the first part of the journey. Do lots of reading here on the boards and with all the lovely books there are out there on the subject. All the research is never a waste! Good luck and best wishes!
  10. I thought the rash I had was from all the tape I had on my skin but, I had that combo of meds as well so there's a chance that's why it was worse.
  11. My nutritionist says no to gummy Vitamins because they don't have as many vitamins in them as the others. There are a lot of nutrients missing or are lower in the dose. I take daily 2 flintstones multi vitamins, B12 subliguil, D3 and Calcium. I'm having a hard time getting the calcium in though because of the wait. If I could take it in the morning with the others I'd remember but, I have to take 600 a few hours later and then another 600 2+ hours after that. I keep forgetting though.
  12. I'm told flu like symptoms....combo is different for some...but, can have cold sweats, shivers, throwing up, poopies and then the real need to sleep. Not everyone dumps though. Search the boards for dumping and you'll find more info as well. Hope you're doing ok.
  13. Life happens for sure Mami especially when the kiddos are young. Good luck with your routine and see ya on the boards soon!
  14. sometimes our bodies need to catch up with all the changes. It does it by holding onto it's weight but, when it realizes we're not starving it, it will release the weight. Keep on following your program and it will work. Make sure you're getting the approriate amount of Water, Protein and exercise and you'll be sliding down the scale again Good luck!
  15. Glad to see it went well for you. Wishing you a great recovery
  16. Looking forward to enjoying a full length mirror and the lady staring back at me.
  17. Most do release you on full liquids so that you can get some protein from protein shakes for healing. If you're unsure about what you should be taking in give your doc a call/nutritionist.
  18. Good luck on the start of your journey
  19. Dark urine usually means its concentrated but, if you're getting in 64-90 oz per day doesn't sound like that's it. Are you drinking things with lots of color like grape koolaid? I know purple coloring can urine darker. Always best to check with your doc though. I was on antibiotics and those caused my urine to be dark as well.
  20. I went back last week and everyday was exhausted. It's getting better this week but, I'm stressed and that's not good either. It's hard digging out of the hole after being out 6.5 weeks. UGH. Still exhausted and now not sleeping well. That certainly doesn't help. (sigh)
  21. Welcome to the boards Immage! Great place to be for all the questions and support. NO matter what it is. Glad to see you're no longer lingering but, started posting!
  22. Amazingly enough I was able to sleep for mine. Just keep your regular routine and get to bed and dream about the new you. Congrats and good luck with your surgery! Wishing you a speedy recovery.
