I'm feeling really good. I've had a very smooth recovery. I haven't had any nausea and have pretty good energy. I had no problem scheduling my procedure and got my preferred date. By 1 week out, when I was able to drive, I felt like had my life back.

Got sleeved on the 24th and other than minor gas pain, all things are going along well. I weighed myself today 3 days post op and I have lost five pounds already. I am so glad I did this. I know this is the best decision for me and I wish all of you sleevers the same, I will keep you all posted. Thanks for all your help.

Surgery yesterday, discharged this morning. I'm super excited to see what success is going to look like! My clinic staff said that my recovery while under their care was much better than most (but of course we all know they've got the good drugs there!) . Drugs at home, not quite so good, but still feeling really good considering I'm only 29 hours out from surgery. I have some minor soreness along the line of my incisions and some muscular soreness around my diaphragm. No nausea, no vomiting, little gas, a little heartburn sensation when I'm not sitting up straight or standing, and it's slightly difficult to stay focused due to the narcotic. The only other thing I 'm not cheering about is trying to get all my meds and fluids down due to the swelling and uncomfortable sensation, but that's all it is, fortunately, "uncomfortable sensation". No complaints here and I can't wait to see what awesome things are awaiting me in my future!
Best of luck to you all! At this point, so far so good and I'm really pleased!

3rd day of pre-op liquid diet...and I ate grilled chicken at a baby shower sit down dinner. I didn't eat anything else, including the cake pops. Still went down another pound yesterday. I've been reading about a lot of complications lately and started getting a little freaked out. One of the grandmothers at the shower told me she had gastric bypass and that I was making a good informed decision. I feel like God put her in my path to calm me down.

So the scale is SLOWWWWLY moving again!! My workload is so heavy right now, I truly can not exercise the way I used to. So I am being extra vigilant with my food intake. I am being a good girl with my Protein, Water, and Vitamins. But I also had some Oreo Cookies today (4 of them) ......Pray for me.......
P.S Still on the fence about getting the Sleeve?! DO IT ASAP!!! you can thank me later

Well I took a different approach. I did not keep quiet,... did not volunteer, but answered any questions. Reason? Gossip. Rather than the rumor mill diagnosong me with something like cancer (to explain my leave) I just said it.

    Hey Guys,
    Here are my stats:
    Age: 22
Pre-op weight- 383lbs ( highest weight ever recorded)
Day of surgery (May 3rd 2013) after 1 week liquid diet- 373lbs.
    July 25th 2013- 320lbs.
i can truthfully and honestly say that this surgery saved my life. Not to say that i couldn't have lost the weight alone, i just wouldn't have done as well. The journey hasn't been easy AT ALL however, it's been a learning process and its getting better and easier each and everyday. I am so happy that i had this surgery and forever grateful to my mom for believing in this and paying for surgery for me.
The pic i attached below is a side by side picture of me last November and of me today. I can't begin to tell you how embarrassed and ashamed i am for letting myself go so much that i didn't even notice how big i was and how horrendous i looked in that outfit. It's really hard to see and even harder to digest. All i can say is that i am NEVER going back there and it can only get better from here.
I feel like i'm already a VSG success story and i'm not even halfway there yet.
To those who watch youtube VSG videos, i've been recording my progress so if you're interested, you can watch my latest video:

Hello everyone! I'm scheduled for Aug 6. I'm on the pre op diet, and chicken broth has been my saving grace so far! I was so hungry last night before bed, and the broth took the edge off. How is everyone else faring? I see my surgeon today.

Endoscopy done...everything looks good! Start my two week liquid diet and have Psych eval tomorrow. Can't decide if I want to have something yummy (carby) for my last pre-surgery meal or just stick to low carb the way I've been doing since approval. I want to lose as much weight as possible before surgery, so I guess I know what my answer is...

I started day 1 at 204.8, this morning, day 7 I weighed 196.2. An 8.6 pound weight loss in 6 days !!!!! I'm loving this pre-op diet. I wish I'd started it earlier. I'm being creative, with different flavors, using extracts and SF Torani syrups. I haven't been hungry once. I've averaged 68 grams of Protein and roughly 600 calories a day.

I'm on day 3 of pre-op diet (sleeved on August 5th). I'm not going to lie... these first few days have been tough. Day 1, got through the morning fairly easy; by afternoon I was sluggish. I went home and had drained Healthy Request cream of chicken Soup (which was surprisingly satisfying), and went on a family walk w/ wife and kids. When I got home, I could hardly keep my eyes open and crashed. I woke up yesterday feeling different... a good different. Almost like a cleansed different (I don't know if that makes sense, but it's the only way I can describe). Yesterday wasn't as bad as Monday, but was tough. Followed the same routine, but didn't crash last night. Woke up this morning feeling good, and we'll see how the rest of the day goes. Sure, the pre-op diet isn't pleasant, but I'm going to own it and become a better me.

Today marks 14 days since my sleeve surgery and I am happy to report I have lost 20 pounds! I started this journey 12 months ago when I was weighed by my doctor's office during a routine check-up and weighed 288. I am 6 feet tall. That was the most I had weighed in my life and I decided it was time to take action. I was referred to a local sleeve surgeon who immediately put me on the South Beach Diet to lose weight pre-op. Because of insurance I was required to wait a certain time and follow certain guidelines. Well, two weeks ago I had the surgery and despite some complications afterward that required a second procedure I am home now resting and recovering. I am pain free and adjusting to my new body. I would like to meet other people here and share experiences. By the way today I weigh 245 pounds!
