thank you both so much. It's definitely not easy but every day I feel one step closer. I love that the goal is not just about me, it's about getting us both healthy. It keeps me motivated.

I lost like that! My surgeon says it's better to have rapid in the beginning and slower at the end. Which is where I am at now. Congrats on the dancing! I love going out!!

I was supposed to have 3 shakes a day, and clear liquids. Hang on. It is awfully hard for the first 3 days, and if you stick with it, you lose a lot of your hunger. The sugar is out of your system after about 3 days. I wasn't supposed to have fruit, but I did have some sugar free liquids and nibbled some ff yogurt.
Hang in there. IT is hard. But you can do it!

As long as you don't neglect the important people in your life I feel we should all feel good about ourselves. I can't wait to see onederland and I will save for a mommy makeover too. It is not that I don't like myself I want to do it because I do like myself and I want to be the best me there is.

definitely get itchy after taking the B12 vitamin. unfortunately, and to my great dismay (as a former potato lover), my tummy will not tolerate any type of potato in any form....the sleeve says, "no way i'm digesting this stuff.....and the sleeve instantly disposes of the problem...." .....sigh...

In my Bible study group the monthly breakfast parties are always sweets and more sweets, and then in April it was one of the womens turns, and she brought in hard boiled eggs, melon, strawberries, turkey bacon, turkey sausage, whole wheat mini bagels, fat free cream cheese.... it was so good, we talked about how much better we all felt and no one missed the goodies.... oh and she brought greek yogurt too, she set a new bar for all of us.

Great job. No one needs that crap--whenever I brought something into the office for a bday or other event, I would always bring a traditional sweet but then a healthful option too. For example, a decorated cake but then also a big bowl of fresh strawberries or clementines. Maybe you could start a new trend at your office next time you are asked to bring something. I was always shocked by how popular the healthier foods were.

I wasn't always lucky. I had to go back in for more blood tests pre-surgery and they couldn't find a vein, and the day of surgery, they had trouble finding the vein again. I was feeling like a pincushion after a while. :-P

Thanks Momonanomo, I am a closet comedian. And going through the sleeving process is so stressful, I try to lighten the mood. Hopefully no one takes it the wrong way.

OMG I totally loved that analogy about the commercials.
I was sleeved a little over 3 weeks ago. I am still, technically, on the soft foods stage. Since i am off work for a month, I have realized just how many pizza commercials there on TV. At least one per commercial break. I found myself craving pizza, even though, technically, I don't think I could eat it and even if I could, I would maybe manage two or three bites and probably feel like crap after. Knowing that does not stop me from salivating whenever I see the pizza on the TV screen in all it's cheesy glory. I am like Pavlov's dogs.
I believe food is an addiction. It is one we have to moderate instead of quitting cold turkey and therein lies the difficulty. The monster has to be let out of the box three times a day. This surgery shrinks our stomachs, however we still have to deal with the stuff in our head.

I was having trouble with the idea of having surgery. I then started to think about food as an addiction. I asked myself whether or not a drug addict or an alcoholic who had the option to have surgery would do it, and whether or not their choice to do so would be frowned upon. This helped me with my decision to get the sleeve. This is a GREAT post. Thanks!

Hi at 4 months I started losing hair.... My hair got really thin around the crown of my head. The hair loss has really slowed down now. I will be at the 6 month mark in a few days. So yes my hair did thin a lot..... I have taken nothing for it. In my pre op classes we were told that biotin was really not a proven fact in stopping hair loss. I made sure to get in all my daily protein.... Never skip a beat on that... Best wishes Tina

I already have really thin hair (pre surgery), so I'm being diligent to take my biotin, multivitamins and vitamin e every day before surgery, as well as getting in atleast 80 to 100 grams of protein per day. I don't know if it will help or not, but it sure won't hurt to try

Start with the biotin now. 5,000 mcg per day. Also, it is said that while you are on your pre op try to get about 100 grams of protein per day and protein the first two weeks after is supposed to help as well. Not to mention more protein in the early weeks will help the healing process. Some surgeons say get protein as soon as you get home but a few say no protein for the first 1-3 weeks. Of course, listen to your surgeon.
I did protein as soon as I got home in the way of Isopure, was started out with about 20 grams then was at 60 by the end of the first week. My healing went extremely well and have not lost hair yet, but it is said that usually happens 2-4 months out. I am 8 weeks today so probably not there yet but hoping to minimize it.
Good luck, you will love your sleeve! I know I love mine!

Great story. I wonder what you really weigh. I'm super morbidly obese at nearly 400 lbs. But I remember when I was 30 and weighed 125. Next time I weighed myself I had gained 5 pounds and I thot my life was over. I was so self conscious of how I looked, especially in shorts.
Ha! I'd give one of my legs to weigh "that much" now. I'd give money, but I don't have any. ha ha
Yes, you'll get that girl figure back. Hopefully, your daughter will have a change of mindset and realize how cute she is now. Good luck!
