  1. Hey lisa, I had the same problem right after surgery, so I just took some imodium when I had the milk, Doc, Fowler said it was OK, and then I was better later. So chin up, it will be better, maybe try a different protein powder??? I find that the GNC ones are too sweet for me since after my surgery. I am looking forward to seeing all of you, I think I will just hang at Castle till I meet up with someone, then decide from there since I have the first appt. Keep up the awesome work ladies, Miriam, I hope you feel better. Until I see you guys, bev
  2. Good job Lisa. It was great talking with you last night. Hope all goes well with your test. Looking forward to seeing you again on the 28th. Also looking forward to seeing you others as well, Lisa and Kathleen.
  3. Well everyone, sounds like we are all doing good. Looks like I won't be seeing Mary or Cindy on the 28th, but I will see my daughter in the morning so that means the whole afternoon I get to hang out with you guys. If you guys are around. So what time and where, I guess we might meet some of you at the office, so we'll see. Keep in touchbev
  4. OK everyone, so the 28th sounds like the day to meet up. I have an appt with Dr. Fowler also on the 28th at 1:15, but I have to make my appts with Cindy and Mary also on that day, and try to see my daughter who is going to BYU also. Whew, what a day that will be. I am 16 days post op and am eating what should be soft foods now, but I have been able to eat fish and chicken with no problems. I just make sure I chew, chew, chew. I dont want to have a PB. I am losing weight OK. Dave and I go to the gym 5 or 6 days a week, depending on our sons activities for the weekend, so lately no gym on Saturdays. But the program is working so keep up the good work ladies, and I'll see you guys on the 28th I hope. What do you think we could do, real quick like, well at least I want to see everyone either again or for the first time. I am sooooooo excited. ALOHA
  5. It's so funny that I just read this thread. I was just telling my hubby that I do enjoy my tanned belly usually and now i may have scars. I was banded also on Aug 29th. But the way I look at it, these are my "battle" scars, against fat. I will gladly wear these scars with honor on my later to be thin stomach. I have a feeling that most of you will feel this way also. But I do have hopes on getting them to be almost nonexistent later. Wish me luck. Good Luck to you all.
  6. Aloha Ericsmom, I too was banded on Aug 29, and have lost 10 lbs. I don't know if peanut butter is considered a mushie or not, but I would think it is, as long as you don't swallow it a whole teaspoon at a time. But i would check with your MD first. Good Luck on your journey
  7. Good Luck Liz. Part of that is that they might want to see if you are able to follow this diet, since after surgery you would have to follow a diet also. Think of it as good practice for later. Good Luck, I know you can do it.. If it gets hard come to this site, there is some very good support here.
  8. I just had surgery 9 days ago and lost 11 lbs since then. But I also had lost 20 lbs prior to surgery. But the first person to notice the loss was someone we see only sometimes in the stores. So i guess my answer would be 30lbs. everyone else close to me knew about it and sees me everyday so maybe they don't notice it cause they see us all the time. But any loss is till a loss, whether someone notices it or not.
  9. Same here, some swelling but maybe for 1 week. I still cant wear fitted jeans, cause the sitting with the waistband on my stomach still hurts, but other than that. Its all good.
  10. I am 9 post op and i will have to say that, it will all get better. Like everyone else says, just keep walking and sipping fluid. I agree that day 2 and 3 were the worst. I have been back to the gym from day 5 post op. No heavy weight lifting, but back on the elliptical and treadmill. Chin up, it will get better, just make sure you are drinking and how about your vitamins???? Good Luck on your journey...
  11. Well other than you can't find an MD to do your fills, it sounds like you guys have it made. $70 for a fill, I have to fly to another island, rent a car, then pay for my fill, and its $250. Hows that sound. I guess you could count your blessings.
  12. DH is lapband lingo for "dear husband", or "dear hubby" whichever you prefer. Good Luck on your journey. I am 1 week post op and doing great. Nobody would have thought that I had surgery one week ago. But attribute it to all the TLC and preperation that I got off of this site. Mahalo everyone..
  13. my post op instructions said to wait for 2 weeks, Buuuuuut, I was never one to follow most instructions, thus the weight gain. But anyway, I was banded 8/29/07 and my DH and I took it REAAAAAL slow and managed 5 days later. But everyone is different. Good Luck on your journey.
  14. Well ladies, I don't have that problem, but I am a nurse, and sometime when the doctor puts in these dissolvable sutures, the ends may no dissolve. Usually like was said, the other part will dissolve and then you can pull it, but if it is really bothering you, it can be cut off. I would prefer your surgeon do it, but he might say its OK for you to do it after he gets to look at it. Good Luck on your journey. I was banded 8/29/07 and doing great.
  15. I think that, that is awesome incentive to exercise. "together" Good Luck on your journeys toward each other. I was banded 8/29/07 and my hubby and I exercise together (he was banded 7/11/07) and it makes it so much easier nd fun to do it with someone. Good Luck.
  16. Wow, I thought I was the only one with lactose intolerance problems. I used to have a mild lactose intolerance problem before surgery, but since surery (banded 8/29/07) I have a problem with my protein shakes, because of the skim milk. I figure taking lactaid with it will cure that problem. But its nice o know I am not alone. Keep it up everyone, we will all reach our goals, and we can then celebrate with SF cake and ice cream. Just a little...LOL Keep up the great work everyone. Good Luck on your journey.....
  17. Good Luck to all of you, how I wish Dave and I could be at those meetings. But alas, we are stuck on Kauai... Take Care
  18. I have to commend my husband who had his band put in July 11th. He used to drink up to 14 cans of diet coke a day (preband) and when he found out that he couldn't have any soda after the band he quit cold turkey, and he lost 8 lbs right away. Just by quitting the sodas. I have been told that the carbonation will stretch your pouch and didn't we have this surgery to help us in all ways to lose weight. I can say that I did not have this surgery to only kind of lose weight, but to make an all out effort to lose this weight. Only advice I can give is to follow your doctors, and nutritionist advice. After all they are the "experts". Good Luck on your journey, hope all turns out well for you.
  19. Lisa, you will do fine. Just keep taking the protein shakes, anything liquid, I am enjoying the cream of wheat at the moment. I am having some lactose intolerance, but nothing imodium won't help. And the way i look at it, its only liquid for 1 week. How is your pre-op diet going? I have had any kind of soup I can think of. But it is getting boring. Thank Goodness i will be on mushies soon enough. Take Care.. bev
  20. I am doing much better today. Less gas pain, only the one in the shoulder left. Not too much port pain. I went to the gym today and walked 10 minutes on the treadmill and 15 minutes on the stairmaster. I am feeling kind of low on energy but I will take my vitamins and protein shakes and hope that it helps. Take Care.. keep in touch
  21. someone told me that just lying down flat on her back worked, and I must say it seems to help me momentarily. I still have some shoulder pain, I was banded 8/29/07
  22. Oh sorry Kathleen, I was hoping to meet with you also. It was nic meeting with Lisa and Miriam. Its nice to have a face with a name. Onward ladies to our final goal. Keep up the good work, and good luck to all. I don have my next appt with Dr. Fowler Sept 28, maybe another meeting with the ladies?????? check your schedules...aloha....bev
  23. don't worry, you'll be fine. We all do what we have to. I happen to have a high tolerance to pain. But I know you will do well. I cannot wait to meet with you today. Have a good day.
  24. Well its done. I am officially part of the band wagon. I am doing great. I am hoping to meet with a new band friend from hawaii, her screen name is lisa_hawaii and I hope to meet with her and mescla today after our appts with Dr. Fowler. Hope to meet you others as well. If any of you see this message, we are meeting at windward mall, in front of sears, near the couches??? at 4:30 pm. Just look for the group of us who look like we need the band. LOL. Hope to see you if you can. Aloha Kaohinani (beverly) and Big Wave Dave (dave)
  25. so how did it go? I haven't heard why they would cancel for that reason, but you never know. Good Luck, keep us posted. I was banded 8/29/07 and doing great, I know things will work out for you. Let us know when you know. Keep up the good work.
