  1. It isn't uncommon to hear of no pre op diet. I do have a pre op diet, but if I didn't have one I THINK I would probably follow something, just to be prepared. Make sure you are getting in sufficient protein, staying well hydrated, limiting the crazy "last meals" etc... Maybe something a little more lower carb to help curb your appetite so you don't feel restricted.
  2. Different, take them both.
  3. Do you need a Center of Excellence? Is that why you need to go to Denver? St. Marys is in the process of becoming a COE, but not there yet.
  4. Oh that stinks! I am in Grand Junction, I have Dr. Hanly through St. Mary's Bariatric program. I wish you luck!
  5. I am day three of my pre op diet and it is so much easier for me today. I realize you are further out, but I think it will get better. I have been tracking calories and protein, and I am amazed how little calories my pre op diet is taking in (800 today, and 130 of protein) and yet I am satisfied and taking something in every couple hours.
  6. Ohhhh early. I have to be at the hospital at 9, for an 11:15 surgery. Not too bad, I would prefer earlier than later for sure
  7. Oh man 2 weeks nearly killed me, 6 weeks would be horrible. Time will go to a stand still, you will wonder how it ever went so slow, BUT before you know it you will have your answer. I hope it is approved! Let us know.
  8. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/47105-super-nurses-with-sleeves-support-group/page__st__360#entry952058 Been here yet? Nursing forum, you can find different nurses from all walks of life. It definitely varies in time returned to work though.
  9. You said you can't tolerate your CPAP. I am just curious if your surgeon has said anything about checking compliance on your use? I just got a heads up a couple weeks ago that mine will be "Read" for compliance before surgery. Luckily I am compliant in wearing it nightly, all night? rare.... but nightly.

  11. My dad was very opposed. I made sure he was well educated and than I quit talking to him about it. He eventually came around and started asking more questions and even started WW as my date has grown closer.
  12. My nutritionist said water first protein second. You don't want to get dehydrated most importantly, but you want to be focusing on trying the protein shakes. I'm supposed to do 1-2oz of protein on the hour and 1-2oz of water every 15 minutes (15-30-45)
  13. I chose to only tell a few select people while in the application process. I didn't want to have to explain to people what happened if I failed at it. Once I received my approval and surgery date I told others, who I am close with that might be upset if I had surgery without them knowing (family and friends) once I have surgery I plan on telling others on a need to know basis. I have no intentions on hiding it, however I don't necessarily want to walk around with the t shirt.
  14. Yeah mine is Popsicles, jello, broths, juices, water. Good Luck tomorrow
  15. You definitely aren't alone. I saw an ad for bagels and cream cheese earlier and mourned the cream cheese lmao. I was like OMG pull it together. I will come off soft foods 2 days before thanksgiving. I'm already scared. I keep telling myself: I will eventually incorporate foods back into my life in a more effective and healthful way. I will someday have a bagel and cream cheese again but it will be half of a whole grain bagel with a couple teaspoons of low fat cream cheese and it will be OK. I have lived 14-15 years of food funerals. I have gorged myself to nausea. I have ate because it was there and not because I was hungry. I have risked my life and the livelihood of my child for my addiction. It's time to put me first, it's time to reach for the stars and actually reach them. We got this. It won't be easy but we can do this.
  16. I'm really sorry. I am sure that is very frustrating. You got this! You can and WILL do it! Low carb is what did it for me and my pre op diet seems to be quite effective too.
  17. I told my mom and aunt I was concerned that I would be more at risk of abduction. They looked at me like I was crazy, but who is going to try to abduct a fat girl? It's just gonna be a lot more work than a thin one. I think I need to quit watching Dateline and A&E
  18. Yeah I have a patch and 3 hours before surgery I take Emend (strong anti emetic for chemotherapy patients) sounds like its a good thing
  19. I am day two too! I absolutely agree today has been more difficult than yesterday. I am fairly certain I read another post, are you 4 protein shakes a day? Mine is a little more forgiving: 3 protein shakes, 5 oz of meat, 2 C raw veggies and 1 C cooked veggies (split over two meals) but I have struggled! Is your surgery day the 27th?
  20. Iron and Calcium need to be separate (Calcium inhibits the absorption of the Iron) Vitamin C helps with the absorption of Iron. That's all I got....
  21. Yeah I just don't get that. You go girl! You are doing awesome and you do it until you are happy!
  22. Wow.... Was that not something they addressed early on? I had to loose 5#, but had 6 mo notice (and waited til the last week, of course) I know there was a girl through my surgeon who had to loose 50-60 but had the same amt of notice. Hang in there. Frustrating but your time will come!
